Hi,
What are the effects of Exhalted Saturn in Libra Ascendant but Retrograde.
With Libra Ascendant,Saturn is Yogakaraka,but due to being Retrograde will there be negative effects on one's life?
Please clarify.

Sandeep

Retrogradation generally means the result (whether benefic or malefic) is delayed. The scriptures also state that it is unfulfilled desires/results from a previous life. The quality is determined by various characteristics in the chart, generalization is not useful.
If a natal graha is retrograde it will probably kick in in your late 20's or mid 30's

Thanks Akash for your reply.
However,
Some Astrologers say that it is derived from the below formula:-
Exhalted+Retrograde-->Worst
Debilitated+Retrograde-->Good
Is this true?

Sandeep,
I do not believe so. I have been unable to find an authentic source that mentions what you stated. I am aware that many people say so but I have not come across a chart where this is obvious either.
It really depends on what house the graha owns. For instance, if the 6th lord is debilitated then there are generally health issues (unless mitigated by benefic aspects/conjuctions), the same lord exalted generally results in good health. I can speak from experience that retro+exaltation is good! Again its the combination of various parts of the chart that results in the overall effect. exaltation or debilitation alone do not result in something.
One would like strong 8th and 6th house lords so that the house effects are reduced. Weak lords cannot protect their houses and hence cause issues, so the formula you stated is not true per say.

So,
Do you mean to say that Retrograde Saturn doesn't play a major role in case of Exhalted or Yogakaraka?
Apart from this,
I have one more thing to get clarified?
Well placed Gochar Saturn or Sade Sathi effects depends on how well it is placed in the Birth chart
or does it always result into malefic effects?

No, thats not what I said. I said retro+exalted is not malefic. Basically the formula you quoted is not appropriate. Any exaltation makes a planet stronger. Retrogradation results in delays (some people say that you should consider it being in the house prior but I'm not so sure about that). Whether the result is malefic or benefic results depends on which house it lords, what aspects it, what nakshatra its in, its depositor etc.sandip.kundali wrote:So,

sade sati effects are dependent on placement of planets/aspects etc. Sade sati time is generally testing and makes you work harder and creates frustration. It need not always be bad though, i've seen marriages take place during sade sati, people gain degrees (myself included) etc during this period. It also is dependent on the dasa running.

Astroboy,
Please analyze my chart if you will, you had promised to do some months ago but I'm sure my request has fallen off the radar. My concern is similar to the member's question you analyzed yesterday: many negative life changes, alterations, divorce, heartbreak, ongoing court cases, possible foreclosure, great distress; many unexplained bonuses and acts of kindness too. Very much wanting a better life for me and son and thought that with new Saturn transit and recent Jupiter movement I'd at least have some solid work prospects, more money, and that my future spouse would have arrived. Please offer some honest feedback.

I have come across an article that says that there are obstacles for the number of years a planet will stay retrograde. For instance, if in a chart, saturn is retro and will remain so as the chart is progressed (say for 10 more days) that means there will be obstacles in the house that saturn represents for 10 years. If it is beyond the life of the native, then this spills over into the next life.
It is not something I have considered till I read the article but I find it fascinating because in my chart, Sa is retro and would have gone to normal motion 12 days after I was born. Sa which is my 3rd/4rd lord. I was always on the move for the first 12-13 years of my life - literally every 6-8 months I would have to move.
Further, he states that that after about 25% of this total years,some slight increase in my progress in life may be seen. And after about 50% of the total years, there is a steep increase in life's progress.
What is your opinion on this?
