can you please tell me if sun and mercury are both in 8th house what it means

I had read somewhere if sun is in 8th house than the person will be short lived and suffer from defective eye sight

and on opposite i have read that if mercury is in the 8 house than the person concerned will be widely renowned and longlived. He will be the supporter of his family, a lord and a commander of army

than what happens if they both are in same house because sun is giving short life and mercury is giving long life what is right

In my humble opinion, it depends on their (sun and mercury) placements and lordships more than anything else. Yes, to a degree, the general characteristics and significations of those two planets can be used (for example, sun is a luminary and placement in 8th can be detrimental to eyesight (symbolic of light)). But lordship is more important. If sun is 6th lord and placed in 8th house, this actually may be a good combination (vipreet raja yoga). It just depends and is relative on each individual chart.
