first the good yogas,

Hamsa Mahapurusha Yoga
Jupiter in Kendra, exalted or in own sign.
The person has a fair complexion, prominent cheeks, beautiful face, and the skin has a golden luster. The voice is sweet like that of a swan. The person has Kapha constitution and has fondness of water sports. The sexual urge is insatiable. The person has a thirst of knowledge and sacred scriptures, is virtuous, doing good to others, and is blessed with a beautiful spouse. Enjoying variety of physical and material comforts the person will leave this world at the age of 100 in a forest.

Amala (Amala-Kirti) Yoga
There is a natural benefic in the 10th house from Lagna (Phala Deepika 6/12).
The person is revered by the ruler, blessed with physical pleasures, of a charitable disposition, likeable and helpful, and enjoys lasting fame.

Maha-Bhagya Yoga
Daytime birth, Lagna, Moon and Sun in odd signs (Phala Deepika 6/14).
The person is pleasant to look at, liberal, widely renowned, of blameless character, lord of lands, a king or equivalent to king.
Through hard work and spiritual practices, a person gets honor and dignity. The lazy one who puts in no efforts is like a fool who allows salt to be spilled on the wounds of his misfortunes. The idler depending only on fate, achieves nothing. - K.N.Rao ji

Bharathi Yoga
The lord of the Navamsha sign occupied by the lord of the 2nd is exalted and combined with or is the 9th house lord (original source unknown).
The person is a world famous and reputed scholar, religious, with love for music and romance, very attractive and possesses bewitching eyes.
Viparita Sarala Raja Yoga
The 8th lord is in the 6th, 8th or 12th house, or aspects or conjuncts the lord of those houses (Phala Deepika 6/65).
This confers learning, longevity and prosperity. The person will be successful in all ventures, conquerer of foes and a great celebrity.
Viparita Vimala Raja Yoga
The 12th lord is in the 6th, 8th or 12th house or aspects or conjuncts the lords of those houses (Phala Deepika 6/69).

This makes the person virtuous and contented. The person will be equipped with good behaviour towards others, will enjoy happiness, will be independent, following a respectable profession or conduct, and will be known for good qualities.
Neecha Bhanga raja Yoga : Kuja the 6th and the 11th lord is in the 2th house aspecting the 9th lord Shani. Shani is the lord of Kuja’s exaltation sign. Thus Kuja gains a Neecha Bhanga. Kuja is in a Kendra from the moon and hence it is a weak Raja Yoga. The Neecha Bhanga is weak because it does not re occur from the Lagna, and the Neecha Bhanga happens in houses which are neither Kendras or Konas from the lagna.
The 11th lord Kuja is in the 2nd aspecting the 9th lord Shani and the 5th lord Shukra. The 10th lord Guru aspects the 2nd from his own house. He also aspects the 4th house from the 10th

Looks good? Every 2nd person in India has these Yogas, if not more. Certain section of astrologers say that only the ""positive"" indications of a horoscope needs to be told to the querist. For years, these “"high priests"" of astrology have told us that astrology is not meant to scare people, but astrology should only to highlight the positive aspects of a horoscope. What this has done to us astrologers is that we have over the years, we have become deluded with the comments of these ""High priests "" and conveniently forgotten the Raja Yoga and Dana yoga Bhangas, exist and more importantly, we have forgotten how to apply them.

Look at it this way, India has a population of 1.4 billion and counting. Internationally, an income of less than $1.25 per day per head of purchasing power parity is defined as extreme poverty. By this estimate, about 40% Pct. of Indians are extremely poor. Income-based poverty lines consider the bare minimum income to provide basic food requirements; it does not account for other essentials such as health care and education. That is why some times the poverty lines have been described as starvation lines. Where have all the Raja Yogas and Dhana Yogas gone for the 40 percent of India's population?

We have concluded that 40 Pct. of this country is under the international poverty line or rather starvation lines. But what is the living condition of the rest of the 60 Pct of the population when compared to international standards? I will leave that to your imagination.

This is why I say, the data we get on the forum, is of no use to a serious student of astrology. I was Telling Vaughn Paul ji some time back that out of the 5000 members of this forum, all 5000 have perfectly functional Raja and Dana Yogas. That is evident because each one of them have an access to a computer, and the Internet. But what about the rest of the population who have no access to the internet? What about their Raja Yogas and Dana Yogas ?

It is important for every astrologer to understand, for every Raja Yoga, there are at least 2 Raja yoga Bhangas lurking in the corner. For every one Dana yoga in a horoscope, there is at least one Dosha lurking in the corner. We are so used to seeing ""Good"" horoscopes on this forum that have ""functional"" Raja Yogas and Dana Yogas that we, including me, over a period of time, have failed to apply any of these Yoga bhangas or Doshas to them.

Some astrologers on this forum have gone to the extent of making statements that there is nothing like a ""Dosha"". And all Doshas are created by astrologers who have a vested interests. Pray, why then do we find half a billion Indians on Sh&t Street? Making statements like this is a sheer Mockery of astrology, Nothing short of it.

Had the title of this thread been “The Man who sleeps on Lakshmi's lap", and Had I posted a picture of my client, instead of the one I have posted above, and had I posted the same horoscope as posted above, none of us would have bothered to assess the Yoga Bhangas in this horoscope. We would have waxed eloquent on the strong Hamsa Yoga, The Maha Bagya Yoga and the superb Amala yoga.

To be honest, If this horoscope had been posted on the forum by any other member, Even I, the most pessimistic astrologer on this forum, would not have bothered to focus on the negative points in the horoscope. My eyes would have been on the Strong Jupiter in the 10th, in his own house, aspecting the 2nd.

But the truth is something else altogether. This man is a nobody among the 1.4 billion people. He starts his day by swobbing the floors of an ordinary restaurant, and then deguts and cleans the fish that are bought to the restaurant. After that he works till 3.30 in the afternoon cleaning the tables, then helps in cleaning the plates and dishes. He rests from 5 Pm to 6 Pm, and then repeats the same job of cleaning tables and washing dishes till 10.30 PM. He earns 2,500 Rs a month. Food is provided by the restaurant. The clothes are hand me downs, provided by some regular customers. He is not married, has no house, is far from his relatives, has no savings, has no other income, and his life is nothing more than a ""dog’s life"". The best part is, he considers himself lucky that he has got a stable job. Howzat?

Why has this happened? Where have the Hamsa, the amala, and the Mahabagya yoga gone ? The closest he got to see the Hamsa was on the TV in the reastaurant on Discovery channel. The amala he saw in the Market. The term “"maha Bagya" he is familiar with because a Kannada serial with the same title is aired every Thursday nights.

Why has this happened? What has gone so drastically wrong in this horoscope? Let’s find out. Guru the 10th lord is exalted in the Navamsha. He is in the 10th house in his own sign. How is it that Guru, who is the saviour of any chart, failed to save him ?

The first obvious and noticeable problem is that Guru is combust 85 Pct. Fair enough, that is a serious problem. But is that enough to destroy this chart? I kept on banging my head against the wall till I ran to P.S.Rao in sheer frustration. What was I missing here? There must be something big in this horoscope, to make this man’s life a sheer Misery.

P.S.Rao ji's answer was simple. It’s the Kema Druma Yoga he said. I was dumb struck. An old villain was back to haunt me. Several years ago, I had ""researched"" Kema Druma and had come to the conclusion that the yoga is ""not maintainable"". I had brushed it under the rubbish heap of astrology along with the Sakata Yoga. Now Kema Druma had raised its ugly head again and i was staring at it in the face.

I remained unconvinced till P.S.Rao ji, pulled out an astrological Grantha where the author had described Kema druma Yoga and its effects. I will reproduce the same for you.

But first let us examine what the classical texts have to say about Kema Druma Yoga.

Brihat Jataka chapter 13 sloka 3 - if Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus or Saturn are not in the second and not in the twelfth house from the Moon, it is known by numerous writers as Kemadruma Yoga.
Brihat Jataka chapter 13 sloka 6 - Persons born under Kemadruma Yoga are dirty, miserable, morose, mean, poor, fond of doing servile works unsuited to their ranks and are wicked, even when born of a royal family.
Phaladeepika chapter 6 sloka 5 - If Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn are posited in the 2nd, 12th or both the houses reckoned form the Moon then the three yogas respectively formed are called Sunapha, Anapha and Durudhara. When neither of the three yogas defined above are formed there is the Kemadruma Yoga. Some astrologers opine that there will be no Kemadruma if an Angle or the Moon is in conjunction with a planet or in the case of the planets occupying an Angular house reckoned from the Moon.
Phaladeepika chapter 6 sloka 7 - those born under the Kemadruma Yoga, though belonging to the royal family, become forgotten, miserable, given to evil ways, penniless, living as menials and wickedly inclined.

This chart full fills the definition of Kemadruma Yoga. There is a Kema Druma yoga Bhanga, because as per Phala Deepika, a planet in a Kendra from the moon nullifies the effects of Kema Druma.

However, the planet which is closest to the Moon is Ketu on one side who is at 3 Deg in Makara. On the other side, Kuja who is the 6th lord and in debilitation is closest to the Moon. Ketu and Kuja are in a Kendra, but both are Notorious Malefics.

Is there a meaning for this kind of cancellation of Kema Druma Yoga? Note, no planet aspects the Moon. He is born in the day time in Krishna Paksha. Moreover, the moon is in Swati Nakashatra and thus gains contact with Rahu. The Rahu Kuja combination is the worst possible combination you can ever find. Thus, the Kema Druma Yoga is strong. Jataka Parijata sums it up beautifully...........
Jataka Parijata chapter 7 sloka 8 - If in any horoscope Kemadruma Yoga comes in, the Rajayogas disappear like elephants on seeing a lion.
In this case, all other factors being equal, the sloka is fully applicable to this horoscope. The classics are at some points bombastic and outlandish with their interpretation of the results of a particular yoga. But in this case, It comes true a 100 Pct.

The Kannada classical texts give an extensive interpretation of the results of Kema Druma, Yoga.

The effects of Kemadruma Yoga are such that the native will be dependent on others for food, and dependent on other people's food. There is no stability in life. His environment is filled with Melancholy, He lives in poverty, will not enjoy a ""mate"" and no marital happiness, even if he gets married. He will want to be detached or stay away from Marriage. He will live alone, will suffer from sickness, He will not have ""luck"" no matter what. He will live life in disappointment, and is always forgetful.

even though he toils for a living every day, he will have no land, house, or any other kind of property. he will not be at peace, and will not allow the other to be at peace, nor can he help other people find peace. he will always extend his hands asking for a loan, there is no value for his honesty, disipline, and trustworthyness. His end will come suddenly one day.

There is no remedy or parihara for this Yoga. Only the mother of the Vedas, and Jyotish the Godess Gayatri has to save him.

Dear Astroboy,

A very nice thread to say the least.Have you ever pondered as to why KEMADRUMA is considered so bad. Here are my two cents on that. All of us , in any field of activity we choose, are influenced by what we see, hear read and discuss .Our ideas and thoughts [MIND] get moulded accordingly and as we progress we keep learning and un learning .

For a Kemadruma person, he is miserable because he is a loner as his mind refuses to get influenced. The moon [mind] is stubborn and is not open and since the person refuses to see the others point of view no one actually cares to be friendly with him.The native feels depressed and agitated thinking that the whole world refuses to understand them.

Try pulling out the server from that place where he is working and you will know.So that is why the ancient texts give importance to anapha , sunapha and durdhura yogas.Willingness to learn and be receptive and open to others ideas will be possible only when the mind[moon] allows itself to be influenced.

More than the poverty ascribed to that yoga i have seen people in that yoga to be loners and due to that depressed souls. After all we are social animals and to be happy we need friends and well wishers.

regards
ramanan

Here is the right translation. Thanks a ton Arunsg Bhai. owe you one. :)

Due to this yoga, the native will depend on others for food, live in others' house/place, does not
have a stable life, will be in dreary/stupid/ environment, poverty
no marital happiness & disenchantment with married life
lonely life [ can mean permanent bachelerhood also], sickness, no luck even after toiling,
life without aspiration [nirase badaku], poor memory

Less memory, lives by earning daily wages, does not possess land, house, property,
does not live in peace and does not allow others either to be in peace
arms outstretched for loans, no integrity, honesty and goodness has no value TO this native,

This [aka effects? ] are unending. There is no remedy or shaanti for this yoga.
Only the mother of Vedas and Jyotishya, Gayathri Devi can save him.

Kema Druma is the worst yoga, worse than Kuja in 8th and Venus in 6th[!]. Person born in this yoga
will be luckless, devoid of happiness & comfort, and are not long-lived.

Even if they do live long, it will be lonely life filled with poverty, plenty of loans, will sleep
in the lap of Daridra-Narayana. Life is a big Zero. This Yoga is based on Chandra.
