Hello everybody,
If a planet is strong in Rasi, but is debilitated in Navamsa, it is said to be weak.
But if the same planet is further strengthened in further of the Divisional Charts(like D-60), will it be deemed as strong ?
In other words, I wish to know till what depth(in terms of Divisional Charts) should a planet be analysed for a true measure of its strength ?
Let us take my example
D.O.B : - 3rd May, 1987 (Male)
Time of Birth : - 7:19 AM (Morning) Birth Time Accurate
Daylight saving not applicable
Place of Birth :- Mumbai (Bombay), Maharashtra, India
I have Jupiter in own house in Rasi chart, but is debilitated in Navamsa(It is in Capricorn) Can we safely conclude that Jupiter is weak and will not give good results ? Or if we need to look further ?
Also I have Saturn in own sign in Navamsa, but if I am not mistaken it is debilitated in D-60 ? So will Saturn be considered as debilitated and weak and will not give positive results ? Or is it still strong ?
How does this concept work exactly ?
Also how does this work for Alertness,Mood, Activity of a planet ?
Like an infant(bal=25 % results) Saturn is in Sushupta(Asleep) in rasi but Jaagrita(Awake) in Navamsa ?
Sushupta = No results but Awake = 100% results. So where does Saturn stand ?
Also, i read somewhere some planets like Saturn give 100% results irrespective of their Avastha(State) ? How far is it true ? So will Saturn as Yogakaraka for me give 100% results ?
Please if the learned Gurus could shed some light on this also....
Best Regards,

I would also like to know some learned astrologers' opinions on this topic. However, I will say that I know a planet's strength is determined by many factors, not just the sign which it is placed in (i.e. debilitation or exaltation). I have seen cases where someone has a debilitated planet which means it should be weak, but it actually is quite strong in shadbala value, etc and is able to do more good than bad (and vice versa case also). Other factors which can increase or decrease its strength can include which house it is in, aspects, ruling planets', and yes, as you mentioned, where it is placed in navamsa as well as other divisional charts.
If any astrologers can shed some light on this topic it would be helpful to novices.

Yes, I think you are partially correct. I am curious too to get answers.
If you would not mind taking your own case, your mercury shows just 68% strength in shadbala and has only 2 points in astavarga. Budha is debilitated and further in its own nakshatra making it further weak. Though exalted sukra causes neechabhanga, it is also in the budha's nakshatra so making it somewhat weak.
Budha represents higher studies, mathematics, jovial nature, ability to learn any new field and so on. Were you weak in these or not? That would give an answer.
In my case, chandra has highest shadbala of 144%, has highest astavarga of 7, is 9th lord in lagna but has neecha bhanga but still its dasha has not been good mostly.
I dont know whether it would give the raja yoga now.

Hi Jig:
It is interesting but how their rusults would be is difficult to predict. The cumulative of all the effects like uchha, neecha, lordships, conjunction and aspects, neecha bhanga, astavarga, shadbala and avastha is what en expert astrologer would be taking into consideration but that would really be a very very difficult task, I can imagine. To evaluate net effects, u have to assign plus and - values and then see how many pluses are there or vice versa. Oh God, it is terrible.

Hi Jig:
I am also novice. I only answer questions that I think I know because of my interest in astrology but I know my horoscope is too complex that I did not get any perfect prediction. However, others are simpler for experts.
Anyway interestingly, your venus is aspected by saturn in both rasi and navamsa and is in 7th house from lagna in both and is alone. However it has aspect of jupiter as well in rasi and chandra as well in navamsa. In terms of astavarga it has 5 points and in shadbala it is above 100%. So seems quite strong. Sukra in 7th house is a dosha as far as marriage is concerned, that is what I have read. How it gets cancelled, u have to ask experts.
Bala avastha is when young. As u grew up, u learnt several things. So that also as it grows older could learn and give u good results. Anyway about avasthas I know nothing.

Hi Dev-
Yes, my mercury is quite weak and I had some problems in higher studies (stop and start kind of thing).. I am very weak in mathematics though I do have jovial nature despite being a bit introverted.. and I am able to learn things quickly, particularly computer-related and languages. As you said it's 68% so maybe it does some good and some bad..? In others' charts, I have seen cases where, for example, moon is in Scorpio (debilitated) but it has a fairly high shadbala value so at that point it does come down to the state of its lord, where it is placed in navamsa, nakshatra, and which planets are aspecting, etc.

Hi Pooja:
I told you to read Vishnu Sahasranama and did not tell u to strengthen budha graha directly by reading navagraha sloka. Also budha is 9th lord from rasi I think. in that way it is good. When u read sahasranama, it will take care of 12th aspect, ie losses will be minimised.
