Dear all,
I am a bit confused by differing recommendations on Gods to worship for Saturn, Mars, Rahu, Moon and Jupiter afflictions. Please advise me on this.
1) Saturn - Some suggest chanting Hanuman Chalisa, while some others say, worship Narayana, chant Vishnu Sahasranama.
2) Mars - Some advise worship Subrahmanya, while others would suggest Hanuman.
3) Jupiter - While some suggest SaambaShiva, some others prefer Vishnu worship.
4) Rahu - Some suggest Maa Durga worship, while in this forum I read someone recommending Maha Mrityumjaya mantra.
5) Moon - some say, Shiva has to be worshipped, while others recommend Parvati or Gauri... It's confusing to me...
Thank you in advance...!
Regards...

Just a suggestion based on my experience
All the divine energies are goodness personified and they do not compete with each other or egoistical as humans do. You can choose a deity whom you find to be most suitable for your temperament as your ishta devata.
Consider the ishta devata as your father or mother or friend or guru or whatever relation you are comfortable with. Then recite the following prayer to the deity that
'Since my knowledge is limited, I do not know what is good for me and my choice may not be always correct. Please help me make right decisions and come out of my current problems. Please help me do things that result in good for me, my family and for everyone.'
Then you can continue to recite any one mantra or kavach of your ishta devata visualising their image. This will build up a reserve strength between you and your deity since your efforts are focussed.
For eg: You are financially weak but your isha devata is Lord Shiva and you have develped a good relationship with that deity and regularly pray to him. In that case, Lord Shiva will contact Devi Mahalaxmi and the financial help will come at the right time. It is more effective than dividing your prayers and attention among multiple deities without any focus.
This has worked for me and I think it will help if your prayer is sincere and heartfelt.
With best regards,
Sikhidvaja.

Better to recite the Nava Graha Stotra every day in addition to any other the person likes. If the planet is more malefic, shanti puja to concerned planet helps.
prayer to the other deities is only an alternative for those who doesn't know the mantra of the concerned planet.

Dear Shrikanthji,
Your note was very insightful. The examples also made a lot of sense. Thanks for sharing them.

Dear Krishna-ji,
Enjoyed your detailed writeup. It makes good sense to see that the different deities relate to one another.
But sometimes it can be still confusing. For example, Rama himself worshipped Shiva (as his Linga in Rameswara) so by default all other deities who get pleased by worshipping Rama, should be pleased with Siva worship also!
In the Puranas you find multiple instances of Siva worshipping Vishnu (and advising others to do so) also Vishnu worshipping Siva. So if all Gods are worshipping one another, is it really required to worship the *particular deity* of a planet?
Sastras of course seem to indicate that worshipping the *particular deity* alones gives the expected results.
Apologies if I missed something in your reply.

Dear all,
Shiva ji in Shiva Purana has said that Vishnu ji nd Brahma ji are my other rupas and one should not undrstnd them being isolated.
So, whichever deity one worships he should do it with dedication..results wil alwys come.
