My mother has sun in dhanur lagna. She was such a leader in the house. She was everything, she knew everything and after her loss, I felt all the air that I was breathing has gone and I have to live in vacuum. I lost interest in everything that time since I felt I was nothing without her.
So sun alone in dhanur lagna or any lagna for that matter indicates a leader or a person with great leadership qualities though he may not be a public figure or political leader or spiritual leader and so on.

but other planets role also important

My Sun is debilitated(at 1 degree Chitra star in Libra) and in close conjunction(1 degree) with my lagna and rashi lord Mercury. This pattern is seen in lagna/rashi along with some divisional charts including D9. So does this mean i will never be successful ? Also, how does Sun and Mercury being in vargottama position in some divisional charts help to improve the situation?

Tru, one planet might not indicate a complete picture. Having said that I believe the best position for Sun is in the 10H in the sign of Aries ( exaltation at 10 Deg , 21 Deg of Pushkara Navamsa )

Sorry to hear that, not one year, of you live say for another 100 years, even till the last moment it is never going to be the same as it was for you when she were alive. But then we have to carry on since we have absolutely no control over the happenings that too which are a result of our prarabhdas accumulating due to many past janma sins.

debilitated sun does not deny success but after lot of struggle and success might be delay depend on others factors also

I'm not upset by mine, though. Aries Lagna (22 degrees so pushkara navamsa degrees) with Surya in 5th house Leo. Aspecting 4th lord Moon in the 11th house Aquarius. Not too shabby.

Sun is the key to success.
Hello Dev and Hari,
In today's world, there are people in there 30-40s who have all materialistic things in life but don't bother to look after their parents and are thankless to the mothers who spent all life raising the kids and looking after and running the house. I know several of such people and see them using parents here in usa and then cursing them as they go back to india. There are people who dont meet their parents for 5-6 yrs and still dont bother to make regular phone calls to check on parent's well being.
It is said that pitra dosh happens when departed elders are not happy, but i feel that pitra dosh happens often when people ignore their parents who are still alive and facing hardships but children are not ready to support them.
You both are blessed and your mothers must be so proud that you understand the importance of mother in your life. Dont think of it as sins that you lost your mother....rather you did good karma to get a mother who was so good that she is alive in your memories for rest of your life.

What could be the effect if 3rd lord sun is in 5th libra and it as 1 degree closely conjunct the lagna lord Mercury? I believe the exact debilitation degree of sun is 10degree. The conjunction of Sun and Mercury can be seen in multiple charts along with D9. Mercury is both retrograde and vargottam.
You lack in self confidence and practical wisdom and often underestimate yourself.
You will see improvement or job change in a few months time.
You may offer leaves and vegetables to cows on thursdays and fridays and pray to Mahalakshmi on fridays and chant Lakshmi slokas if you know.
