Hi,
I want to understand difference between vimshottari dasha or ashtottari dasa. Is it true that north indian should follow ashtottari dasa and for south indian vimshottari dasha should be reference point. Tell me what is myth behind that ?
Please clear doubts and give information as much as you can.
Thanks

Ashtottari Dasha is a conditional Dasha applicable when the birth is in day time in Krishna Paksha and night time in Shukla Paksha.
Shukla Paksha starts 15 tithis from New Moon (Amavasya) to Full Moon (Poornima).
Krishna Paksha starts 15 Tithis from Full Moon (Poornima) to New Moon (Amavasya).
No such thing , ashtoottari Dasha can be applied as per the above condition only.Is it true that north indian should follow ashtottari dasa and for south indian vimshottari dasha should be reference point. Tell me what is myth behind that

As Anuradhaji has said, Ashtottari dasa is applicable for daytime births in Krishna paksha (darker
fortnight) and night time births in Sukla paksha (brighter fortnight).
Further, it is also said that Ashtottari dasa is applicable if Rahu, who is not in lagna, is in a quadrant or a
trine from lagna lord.
Having said so, it is good to apply these principles to ones chart and see if it portrays reality, My chart fulfills the first condition but the Ashtottari scheme fails to indicate real life events.

Thanks for more details. Even in my chart first condition applies (daytime births in Krishna paksha). I don't know about life event. As nobody saw my chart according to Ashtottari Dasa. My birth is in sandhi kaal of Lagna So its difficult to predict anyone. They also failed according Vimshottari Dasa.
