Dear Elipsis:
I was reading somewhere about planets' placements in different nakshatras.
Somewhere I read that planets places in nakshatras of magha give us results of our past life karma based on the house in which that planet is placed and also the karaka of the planet.
Please can you throw more light on this?
what is your thought on different planets planced in magha.
Thanks

Hi Believer,
I get what exactly you are asking. But here is my thought on it.
Technically -- each and every planet and every configuration of the birth chart is due to past life karma. In fact based on previous lives' karma only a specific time and place of birth is chosen so as to have a specific birth chart -- so as to make a soul go through particular type of experience in that life. Lot of astrologers term certain planets as karmic planets, especially lunar nodes (Rahu/Ketu) & Saturn. I don't agree necessarily. It's just a misnomer. When everyone clearly knows that entire birth chart is karmic in nature, what makes us say that only certain planets are karmic. It can't be more simpler than this -- entire birth chart is a function of past life karma.
Regards

I would tend to agree with you that if the chart configuration (lay of the planets etc) is a cosmic screen-grab of ones karmic history or at least part thereof (like a maturing fixed deposit in a bank), then all planets etc must represent a glimpse of ones karma and not just a few esoteric points (nodes) or bodies (Saturn for instance). However, perhaps some astrologers underscore these as karmic or karmic control planets or other catchy nomenclature because these astro-indicators by placement, progressions, transits etc seem to be associated with difficulties (payback?) etc.ddd wrote:Hi Believer,

However, the concept of Karma itself in its simplified (eye for an eye; reap what you sow, etc) or more complex description (used in sanatan dharma categorization of classes of karma), while appealing to our sense of morality and juris-prudence mindset itself is a mystery and difficult to objectively prove.
For instance, one question that immediately arises is that if karma is a linear progression (or decline!) bearing fruit as one sequentially goes through lifetimes, then what was the original sin that caused the incarnated soul or soul-fragment to tumble down? Also, there is the favourite belief of there being cyclical yugas going from the purest to the most corrupt (now?) and then suddenly it is sata yuga again and angels begin singing, as opposed to a gradual upliftment from Kaliyuga to sata yuga. It almost is as if the background has been God or at least God of Time: Mighty Kaal...?
Then there are those who believe that the purpose of lifetimes is for the soul-fragment to experience earthly life which is time in slow-motion and is indeed like a school.
All of these might, for all we know, be reflections of human race as they try to figure out this 'life on earth and beyond' through faith, belief, copious anecdotes, imagination, fragmentary glimpses and parroting out what wise men opined in what is often a misty past.
Whether we believe in karma or not, whether it actually exists as we were told or not, the mystery, the discussions, disagreements shall continue and variability of opinions shall continue in the ocean of divination ;-
