Namaste learned astrologers,

Kindly let me know if my approach is correct. I am learning astrology on my own and finding it to be daunting and feeling like fish out of water -- there is just so many principles and so much information to master!

I am reading my husband's chart, not for any great predictive value at the moment, however just to practice some of the techniques and principles I am learning, so that I will get into the habit of using the techniques always!

I am unable to disclose my hubby's DOB, however, since this post is only to discuss the technique, I presume it will be alright just to discuss certain key planetary placements in his chart!

I am most interested in seeing myself in his chart! His 7th lord for Capricorn lagna is the Moon. It is placed in 6th house in Gemini, conjunct Rahu. Saturn his lagna lord sits in own house in 2 in Aquarius.

With the above placement, I deduce the following factors:

1. 7th lord Moon being placed in 6th house which is 12 to 7th house, shows some loss in the significations for a harmonious marriage.

2. The spouse (me) may be sickly as 6th house shows sickness and is inimically placed in Mercury's house.

3. However, gains from spouse is expected as Rahu is the 2nd co-lord from lagna (Capricorn) and disposits materialistic planet Saturn placed in own house in dhana-sthana.

4. As Rahu is also the 9th lord from Gemini where the 7th lord Moon is placed, the fact that this Moon is conjunct this 9th lord Rahu also shows the spouse will be a very spiritual person.

5. Rahu is actually well-placed in his mooltrikona of Gemini. And 6th house is a good placement for malefic Rahu. Hence Rahu as such signifies success over illnesses, and professional success. Since any planet conjunct the shadow planets Rahu or Ketu are bound to give out the results of the nodes than of their own, due to Moon being conjunct Rahu, the Moon will give out results of Rahu. Hence the spouse maybe doing well professionally and the marital life may get better over time.

Kindly tell me if this approach is correct and whether I have deduced reasonably well.

Thanks,

jravi

Merely checking the lordships isn't enough you have to check the karakas as well. For example: 7th lord may show spouse but Venus shows the quality of marriage, wealth and comforts in a chart. But there are lots of techniques to interpret a chart. So for starters I'd recommend using Bhavat Bhavam with standard parashari rules like you just applied to Rahu. For example: 7th lord in the 6th house is 9th house from the 10th- this shows the native will benefit from spouse's career, wisdom or wealth, it also shows the spouse may go abroad.

Thank you, elipsis! Your feedback is much appreciated! I will also take into account the karaka for 7th house - Venus.

Shrikanth ji,

I thank you for this wonderful opportunity where I can practice some of my new-found Jyotish skills!

I went through my husband's navamsa as you told and was able to deduce few factors. I presume as my learning matures and progresses further, I might gain more insight via karakatwas, lordships and signs, but for starters I am able to see just the following points (all true).

(2 things: I am the 2nd person if counting his relationships, and his DOB is Nov 22, 1964, 11:20 AM, Chennai, India).

Now the 7th house to Gemini Navamsa in my husband's chart showing myself is 'Saggitarius'. The lord Jupiter is placed 12 to Saggi in Scorpio. With this navamsa, I am seeing the following things:

1. Jupiter is placed 12 to sign Saggitarius conjunct malefic Saturn - disharmonius marriage -> This is true to some extent, but the overall quality of marriage is still good, don't know how?

2. Jupiter conjunct Saturn - spouse (me) maybe philosophical and spiritual. This fact is strengthened because dispositor Mars also co-lords 5th house and is conjunct 9th lord Sun in own house in 9.

3. 7th lord from Navamsa lagna is placed in sign Scorpio, the natural 8th sign of Zodiac - spouse maybe much into occult. (True)

4. Moon in 2nd house to Saggitarius. He is the 8th lord and placed in a pristodhaya sign. Secondarily, his dispositor Saturn the 2nd lord (from Saggi) is placed in 12 conjunct lagna lord Jupiter, and 11th lord to Saggi also afflicted. This shows 2 things: i) The spouse maybe from a poor family (kutumba sthana with 8th lord) during childhood (2nd house) and ii) The spouse maybe well-off after marriage (Saturn the 2nd lord is conjunct financial planet Jupiter and disposits 7th lord Mercury). According to bhavat-bhavam, 2nd lord Saturn is placed 11 to himself showing gains.

5. Mercury the 7th lord (showing native himself) and the 10th lord placed in an airy sign in 3rd house of communication. As Mercury is the communicative planet, this position shows the native himself will be an extremely communicative person. (True, my husband is a skilled communicator).

6. Jupiter placed in Martian sign might show the spouse maybe an Engineer (Mars). 12th house shows professional hurdles and difficulties, especially because Mars the 12th lord casts 4th aspect on Jup/Sat. (True, I was a Software Engineer who gave up profession at some point).

When time permits, kindly evaluate my approach.

Thanks and regards,

jravi
