Sun is a benefic when he is the lord of a trine (5th/9th houses) and lord of a kendra(lord of lagna, 4th,7th,10th houses).He will mostly do good. He may not do good if he is the lord of trik houses(6th/8th/12th).

Isn't that the same with other planets too?
Sun is considered Sat's father isn't it? Then why does Sat signify old age and Sun youth/power and vitality?

Raisin cookies resembling chocolate chip cookies are the main reason I've trust issues.
Venus and Jupiter and Mercury are benefic when they are the lords of a trine (5th/9th houses).
They suffer kendradhipadya Dosha when they are lords of a kendra(lords of 4th,7th,10th houses). They may not do good and will do good partially. They may not do good if they are the lords of trik houses(6th/8th/12th).
They become maraka if they are lords of 2nd and 7th houses. They also become Bhadak, depending upon the lagna.
This is my understanding.

At mundane level, the Sun is the significator of governance/administration in general. An administrator has to take decisions in the interest of public at large. The decision might not be favourable to some. If we take an example, enforcement enactment (like tax imposition) of any Government are generally not considered favourable by the affected sections of society.
Similarly in the nativity, the Sun is primarily and only responsible for :
- Self confidence.
- Personality.
- Feeling of being distinctive and unique.
- Leadership traits.
- Ability to control the system...etc.
In my opinion, the Sun is beyond such consideration and is only Benefic in absolute terms.
