I somewhere read that Gayatri mantra shouldn't be chanted by females. Is it true and if yes, then what is the reason behind this??

Then, why is it said in song by a female. The nicest version that I listen to
is sung by a female voice on Youtube. It starts: "Om Bhur......."
However, we learn everyday :)
