This is not easy. But from my experience you can consider the direction of current dasa and maha dasa lord. They decide the direction.

It is like this (little complicated but not much)
Step 1:-
Find out (1) Rasi representing the 10th house.
(2)Rasi where the 10th house lord is placed.
(3)Rasi of the navamsaka lord, of the 10th house.
Step 2:-
Find out which rasi among the three above is strong (ie: having more BALA).
Direction representing that rasi is the most appropriate for working.
This is in accordance to Saint Varahamihiras "KARMAJEEVA PRAKARANAM" chapter in his book "Varaha Hora"

Dear Eddy,
In my observation , Sarvashtakavarga (SAV) helps more in this matter.
Aries, leo, saggitarius --- East
Taurus, virgo,capricorn ---South
Gemini,libra,aquarius ---- West
Cancer,scorpio,Pisces --- North
That triplicity which has more Ashtakavarga Bindus, points to success in that direction.
10th lord both from lagna and moon in the triplicity show the positive direction but if has less bindus (SAV)indicates struggles.
The current dasa lord in a triplicity, if it has more bindus shows success, less bindus show failures (SAV)
The direction of 8th lord in the triplicity shows losses and danger.
Hope this helps.

the last post was really thought provoking and instant success when I applied to few charts.
However, the second and the third paragraphs are a bit not cleared.
suppose that considering the lagna is libra, the more sav is east with 93 points and the least is north with 81 points. Now 10th house lord for libra is cancer and from moon lagna, it is sagitarius,
you know the sagi comes in east and it has the highest sav, so the success is more in east direction from the place of birth?

In another case,
leo lagna,
highest sav is west with 90 and the lowest is north with 81.
from leo, taurus is 10th lord, which comes in south which has 85.
from gemini moon, it is meen as 10th lord and which comes under north.
Since both the 10th lords are not in west, what will prevail here?

What I meant was the 10th lord's placement in one triplicity.
In the case you have mentioned ie, libra lagna and 10th lord moon if placed in sagittarius, eastern direction to birth place indicates one's livelihood. From moon lagna , ie sagittarius, 10th lord is mercury and it's placement in any eastern triplicity shows more power to eastern side.
For leo lagna, venus is the 10th lord and it's placement in a certain triplicity shows livelihood from that side.
In short, the more number of bindus in the rasi where 10th lord is placed, the better results from that direction.
Also if you check it from Arudha lagna, much more better picture emerges!

From Moon chart, 10th Lord Dhanu is placed in Taurus, which comes in South.
East- 93 points
South- 88 points
West- 73 points
North- 83 points
In this, neither of the 10th lords is in east side.
However, 10th Lord in taurus shows South which is the second highest.
So it can mean Southern Eastern direction, he will do better in job!

Now whichever direction the 10th lord is placed (from Lagna,moon,AL) has more bindus, success from that direction is shown.But generally preference is always given to lagna. In your quoted case of libra lagna, 10th lord in 6th house pisces itself shows some struggles, the lesser bindus in that sign (pisces alone) will affect it further, though the direction of north is somewhat better for them.
But I have found in some cases, this rule doesnot seem to be working, even with AL . (I use KN Rao ji's method for AL)
For example this is my elder brother's data, 27.11.1965, 01.10 AM, 10.49 N, 78.41 E.
For his leo lagna , 10th lord venus is in 5th Dhanus which shows East.
From his moon lagna, mercury is 10th lord and is in Scorpio . It shows north.
From his AL, which is Aquarius, 10th lord Mars, which is in East again. So east is shown twice, and his east has 82 bindus.
But he got job in Dubai during mars -venus which is North to his birth place! (northwest exactly) North has lowest of 72 bindus but west has second highest 87 bindus and south has the higest number of 96 bindus! He never had a chance to work in east or south till now.

if time zone is 2 hours east of gmt, then 0.41 of Libra arises, pl check.

Dear Eddy,
You have stated earlier in your post that your rising sign is virgo, and you follow parashara light software.
Whether parasara light or Jhora, with +3 hrs only virgo raises.
Better try Jhora, wherein you can find ashtakavarga and figure it out yourself, by using the directions stated in these discussions.

Interesting topic. I tried applying the logic to my chart and was amazed to see the results.
details:
24th OCT 1982
1:30 AM
Davangere (karnataka) - India
SAV points are as follows:
Aries, leo, saggitarius --- East - 86
Taurus, virgo,capricorn ---South - 89
Gemini,libra,aquarius ---- West - 84

Initially I worked in B'lore which is SE to my birth place. I'm into software development. My career in Bangalore was really good, I was the star performer in my team, always got good results in performance appraisals, have won couple of awards. Overall it was great in B'lore.
Then I had an assignment in USA (Kansas state) for 6 months. This is west direction to my birth place. Again my experience here was good. The customer was really happy with my ideas, and I too was more than satisfied with my work.
Now I'm in UK and its been two years here. This is North to my birth place, actually NW. North direction has the least SAV points. My Exp here is not that great compared to B'lore and USA. here in NW, I get results in work after extensive efforts and sometimes I need colleague's help to resolve any issues. Financially no problems at all, but just that I'm not so happy with my work here, always feels B'lore and USA were better.
