Dear Forum members,
Why the auspicious moments Subhkal and Inauspicious moments Asubh kal determined by South indian system, North Indian system and Eastern India (Bengal) donot correspond to eachother for a day for a geven place .
The south Indian inauspicious moments are rahukal, yamagantha, gulikai, variyan etc. Chogharia system defines inauspicious timings as Udhog, Rog and Kaal. Eastern India defines as Baarbela ,kaalbela and kaalratri as inauspicious moments for a day.
But neither these good moments and bad moments of Bengal, south Indians and Chogharia corresponds to eachother.why.

India was invaded by several foreign forces since BC-AD .In the process lot of literature was destroyed ,influenced by their literature and lost the national vedic calender with Ujjain as center of reference. The vedic pandits developed the regional calenders with their own observation of planets and stars loosing the common ground thus resulting in what you asked. To correct this GOI publishes National Punchang every year as ref,but still local practice continues.

Dear usr,
Thank you very much. But What system national panchang uses to define Kaal duration for a day
supposing RahuKalam is very bad in South indian System. Now the same timing may be Amrita,Nectar kaal in commonly followed Chogharia of North India. So Practically in your hand you have neither goo time nor bad time.To use in Practice becomes difficult.I may have an appoinment with a goverment minister or high ranking officials. So we have to know if the timings are auspicious or not. I mean to put into practice becomes difficult.
Have their been any research in this particular area on KAAL DURATIONS considering regional differnces and available shastras.

It goes by regional culture and practices. Some good astrologer in your area might be publishing a good panchang wrt to his place.Use it giving correction to difference in sunrise and sunset in your place. It helps.Or learn the method how they are calculated and use it.
