If you can not ignore an insult laugh at it, if you can not laugh at it you probably deserved it.
Astroboy,
As usual there is nothing to disagree with your technique or the theoretical base. However the problem is life is not theory and the course of a persons life very rarely aligns with proper theoretical procedure.Consideration of the Desh, Kala, and Patra is a very well grounded practice in astrology. These matching situations would have suited perfectly in a society say till a 100 years ago. Then 99.99% of the prospective bride and grooms would not have met each other. The charts were matched by the parents and acceptance or rejections would not have left any impact on the native concerned.
The situation is totally different now. Mind you, I am not bringing the Chittanukulya factor of Prashna Marga into the arguement. The book says true love needs no matching but that kind of thing is very rare and also happens only to a lucky few. Most love stuff these days happens after mentally matching certain parameters like - looks, educational levels, career prospects, family background, sometimes caste, whether the person fits into ones social circle or not, etc., apart from some level of mutual attraction. These, in my opinion are more like 'self arranged' marriages rather than 'parent arranged' arranged marriages of yore. So matching of charts would certainly be helpful. But unlike in the days of our grandfathers, these couples know each other, sometimes intimately. And, like I said before, breaking off with an apparently blameless partner just because charts don't match is easier said than done. Most wouldn't agree and take the plunge, no matter what. Even if some persons become squemish after matching charts - after two or three years of going around (and provided no subdued repulsion has developed) many would marry just to save face.
So under such circumstances it is most likely that the astrologers opinion would be disregarded. The only way out is to adapt kuta matching to modern times. The astrologer should certainly give his opinion clearly like recommended or not recommended. But also the Kutas should be explained properly and without any mollycoddling. Like if the moons are 6/8 the husband and wife shall never ever have an instinctive understanding of each other. Everything would have to be articulated openly. If the Lagnas are 6/8 or 2/12 it is better not to expect too great a physical relation. So on and so forth. So that even if people decide to take the plunge regardless of astro advice to the contrary, let them do so with eyes wide open. Nobody should go into a marriage clueless and the best remedy to incompatibility is fortitude. My two bits.
