If you look carefully at the natal chart, the 2nd-8th axis and the 6th-12th axis are the only axes where the dusthanas occur (forget about the 3rd) and they are actually EVEN and NON-ANGULAR (unlike 4th-10th axis) houses. This means they are weak and their fate is determined by combing with an odd house.

That is why Philadeepika said that if a planet rules the a Dusthana and a non-Dusthana, and if the planet is placed in the non-Dusthana which it rules in its own sign, the rulership of the Dusthana is effectively annulled.

This reverses my earlier stand about the fact that if the above configuration exists, the Dusthana houses effect would still be felt but in a good way. Sometimes on reflection, it would reveal the folly of one's original turn of mind.

From the above, you can see progression from one Air Chart to the next, can also be satisfied if the 5th/9th lord makes contact with the 5th/9th lord of the next Air Chart - D3, D7, D9 and then back to D3 in that order. 5th shows future and so does 9th being the 5th of the 5h.

By the way, my D5 also has a three-way final mutual exchange between the 5th, 7th and the 10th. All mutual exchanges explained earlier for the respective divisional charts are also final in the sense these groups of planets involve in the change are the final dispositors of the whole chart.

MYTH OR FACT :

The deity of the Nakshatra is the father of the planet that is being borned in that Nakshatra. Another way of looking at guardianship. You can consider this to be as the planet's secondary father.

So,

Father of Venus is Brhaspati Priest of the Gods. That is why Venus gets blessed of always coming with the correct outcome of things, although the means are questionable.

Father of Mars is Apah God of Water. That is why Mars has an affinity with Moon, the most watery of the planets.

Father of Jupiter is Bhaga, God of marital bliss and prosperity. Jupiter is a significator of marital bliss and not Venus.

Father of Sun is Indra the king of Gods and Agni god of fire. That is why Sun is fiery and the king.

Father of Rahu is Yama God of death or anti-dharma. Rahu is anti-dharma and also rules our spiritual death.

Father of Saturn is Pushan the protective deity and nourisher. Saturn protects at all levels (not just through God like Jupiter) and also is the charitable planet.

Father of Mercury is Vishnu preserver of Universe. Only Mercury understand how to live according to the laws of nature.

Father of Ketu is Sarpas or Nagas or deified snakes. Ketu is a cruel soul turned to kindness.

Father of Moon is Agni God of Fire. That is why Moon has an affinity with Mars.

MYTH OR FACT :

We have mentioned the most exalted pada for each planet (the most exalted pada contains the maximum exaltation point of the respective planet).

There are 2 further points I would like to make on the most exalted pada.

(1) If the Lagna or the Moon exists within such padas, the person becomes very good in occult science. All planets are related to Astrology, and the most exalted padas are all places where the spiritual power is at its greatest.

(2) Earlier on I said the most exalted pada has not much to do with the deity of the Nakshatra nor the Nakshatra ruler. BUT the most exalted pada for each planet HAS MUCH to do with PADA RULER (Navama Ruler).

So for example, I have 1st pada of Pushya rising. This is a Sun ruled Navamsa and is Jupiter's most exalted point. It is a combination of Sun+Jupiter giving knowledge of the highest order.

My Moon is in the 2nd pada of Dhanista. This is a Mercury ruled Navamsa and is Mars' most exalted point. It is a combination of Mercury+Mars giving high logical deduction in Vedic Astrology.

Others :

4th pada of Revati : Maximum exalted point of Venus and is a Jupiter ruled pada. Venus+Jupiter means the person is a guru as far as Astrology is concerned. It is instructive to note that the last pada of the Zodiac is where the 2 benefics hold sway, promising us that we can attain Moksha if we try hard enough.

3rd pada of Ashwini : Maximum exalted point of Sun and is a Mercury ruled pada. Sun+Mercury gives intelligence and someone very good in Vedic Astrology.

2nd pada of Krittika : Maximum exalted point of Moon and is a Saturn ruled pada. Moon+Saturn gives someone like a Rishi, very knowledgeable in Astrology.

2nd pada of Rohini : Maximum exalted point of Rahu and is a Venus ruled pada. This is a Vargottam pada. Venus+Rahu gives someone an expert in deciphering the hidden meanings of Vedic Astrology.

2nd pada of Hasta (not Chitra, my mistake earlier on) : Maximum exaltation point of Mercury and is a Venus ruled pada. Mercury+Venus gives someone who is a Rajayoga in Vedic Astrology.

4th pada of Vischika : Maximum exaltation point of Ketu and is a Sun ruled pada. Sun+Ketu gives someone who is able to see through some hidden precepts in Vedic Astrology.

MYTH OR FACT :

We have stated in another post that a planet in the 12th tends to enhance its natural significations in the long run provided it is not afflicted. But note that 12th being 12th to the Lagna, means the natural significations are not so obvious to the untrained eye.

HOWEVER, if the planet conjunct or gets aspects by Rahu (bondage) or Saturn (loss), then the natural significations of the 12th house of the planet placed in the 12th would deteriorate instead.

Forgot the maximum exattation point of Saturn which is the 4th pada of Swati.

The ruler of this pada is Mars as it falls under Scorpio in the Navamsa.

Saturn+Mars makes this pada very hardworking, full of energy, strong and persevering. The person is able to unflinchingly look at all aspects or angles of any problem given to him in Astrology. As such he will ask a series of searching questions to get the best solution for any astrological problem.

Previously I have written many ways of explaining planet's exaltation points.

Let's see whether now we can incorporate all the factors into one post which is the lord of the pada, the deity, the lord of the Nakshatra and the Sign. This is not the same as saying planets placed in a particular maximum exaltation pada does not affect the deity nor the lord of the Nakshatra. Now we are talking about the effects of the four said factors on the said exaltation point of a planet, which has nothing to do with placements of any planets in that pada.

Sun - exalted in Aswini 3rd pada ruled by Mercury, deity is the Ashvi Kumara (the twins), in sign of Aires and the Nakshatra ruled by Ketu.

Sun plonks into a fighting dashing environment of Aires, ruled by Mars which sets up the battleground spirit and means. With that in mind, the Sun fights valiantly (Ketu) but merciful too because of Ashvi Kumara which is to heal. And within the Sun in this pada, is intelligence in strategic battle is at its maximum.

Moon - exalted in Krittika 2nd pada ruled by Saturn, deity is Agni (the fire god), in sign of Taurus and the Nakshatra Krittika ruled by Sun.

Moon is in the giver of material comforts environment of Taurus where Moon gains peace and power, ruled by Venus which maintains and enhances the prosperity throughout life. Moon becomes strong because here emotionally it is strong, and thus Moon gains stature like the Sun in brilliance (Nakshatra ruled by the Sun) with the help of the fiery Agni to stoke Moon's brilliance. Moon then uses its dispassionate mind (it is dispassionate because it has no wants and is assertive because of the fieriness factors mentioned just) to work with Saturn in the giver of knowledge.

Mars - exalted in Dhanista 2nd pada ruled by Mercury, deity is the seven Vasus, in sign of Capricorn and the Nakshatra Dhanista ruled by Mars.

Mars is in the enemy enivornment of Capricorn which Mars all set for battles (notice Saturn is neutral to Mars but not Mars to Saturn which means Mars has scouted the enemy's environment beforehand), ruled by Saturn (Capricorn) which makes Mars less impulsive, Mars can then get doubly strong with no fear of consequences in the Mars ruled Nakshatra Dhanista and attains the fruits given by Vasus easily which all signifies energy one way or another to some extent. Placed in the 2nd pada ruled by Mercury, Mars logic also gets a boost besides being less impulsive.

Mercury - exalted in Chitra 2nd pada ruled by Venus, deity is Savitar, in sign of Virgo the fertile mind, the sign where knowledge is at its fullest and the Nakshitra Chitra ruled by the Moon.

Mercury is definitely at home in Virgo where not only is knowledge full but is pracical. In the Nakshatra of Chitra ruled by the Moon, there is less conceit and the there is more attuned to the masses in the use of the knowledge. The deity Savitar also impart to Mercury the ability to seek supremacy in its learning, something which has full impact on life. In the 2nd pada ruled by Venus, it also makes this Mercury able to distillate its knowledge of stories so that the masses can understand.

Jupiter - exalted in Pushya 1st pada ruled by Sun, deity is Jupiter, in sign of Cancer which gives clear reflection and the Nakshatra Pushya ruled by Saturn.

Jupiter in Cancer gives wisdom because Cancer is the sign of pure reflection. In the Nakshatra of Pushya ruled by Saturn, the wisdom has to take into account karmic factors as well. The deity Jupiter adds a further impetus to Jupiter's wisdom and in the 1st pada of the Sun, Jupiter's wisdom is fully make use of to mesh with what the soul needs ie. not an empty vessel.

Venus - exalted in REvati 4th pada ruled by Jupiter, deity is Pushan, in sign of Pisces which gives oceans of knowledge, sign of a teacher, and the Nakshatra Revati ruled by Mercury.

Venus in Pisces gives the ability to explain all facets of knowledge because it is able to empathise with others and thus able to craft the knowledge in such a way that the man in the street knows how it is applicable to him. In the Nakshatra of Mercury, it gives dexterity of mind to think on the feet for each situation at hand in passing out wisdom and advice. The deity is Pushan, so Venus is like a protector and nourisher for the spiritual seeking person. In the pada ruled by Jupiter, it shows the motivation of Venus is basically good, just like Jupiter.

Saturn exalted in Swathi 4th pada ruled by Saturn, deity is Agni and Indra, in sign of Libra which gives balance and justice regardless of feelings and the Nakshatra Swathi ruled by Rahu.

Saturn in Libra gives exact justice perfectly balanced and monetary transactions that are fair and square. In the Nakshatra of Swathi ruled by Rahu, it gives Saturn the ability to visualise a better society for the masses too so that while pusuing karmic justice, it does not produce more bad karma. The deity VAyu, imparts to Saturn the ability to be like the King, neither here nor there but everywhere, unlike the nature of the rule by the Sun, when the Sun fails to do his duty properly. In the pada ruled by Mars, it gives Saturn the ability to push itself forward in the administering of justice and not be taciturn.

Rahu is exalted in Rohini 2nd pada ruled by Venus, deity is Brahma, in sign of Taurus which is also ruled by Venus and the Nakshatra Rohini is ruled by the Moon.

Rahu in Taurus gives the node the easy approach to strive for materiality and in the Nakshatra Rohini ruled by the Moon, it heightens Rahu's sensitivity towards its own efforts, making it even more acquisitive and succeed at it as well. The deity Brahma gives Rahu the ideas for fructification and in the 2nd pada of Rohini also ruled by Venus, it shows how material and propserous Rohini can be with efforts to show (unlike the other rich Nakshatras).

Ketu is exalted in Vishakha 4th pada ruled by Sun, deity is Agni and Indra and in the Nakshatra Vishakha ruled by Jupiter and in the sign Scorpio ruled by Mars and Ketu jointly.

Ketu in Scorpio gives Ketu ability to exhibits its own nature at its best and in the 4th pada ruled by the Sun, the fiery Ketu gets connection to the soul and hence detachment achieved naturally with no past hankering leftover. In the Nakshatra ruled by Jupiter, it also enhances the ethical stance of Ketu. The deity Agni and Indra gives Ketu the ability to always secure victory based on dharma.

4th pada is ruled by Jupiter. And the deep exaltation falls to Vishaka 1st pada, ruled by mars...and then what you said about Saturn-Mars do apply.

Oops sorry.

Saturn's maximum exaltation point should be 4th pada of Swati ruled by Jupiter because the concept of maximum exaltation point is that the planet is slowly increasing up to that point, after which its power starts to wane.

4th pada of Swati is such a place where the planet's power is ascending. 1st pada of Vischika is the planet where the peak of the power of the planet has been reached, and its power is slowly waning.

Also Swati as a whole is ruled by Rahu which gives Saturn its power and not Vischika ruled by the Sun.

The deity of Swaiti is Agni and Indra, which as I said above under the Saturn paragraph, it confers kingship to Saturn, who takes over as king, when the other king, the Sun, does not do a good job. Sun stands for the government and Saturn rules the masses which can topple the government.

Also Saturn+Mars combination should not confer high spirituality.

Another point is 3rd pada of Aswini is the maximum exaltation point of the Sun ie. 10 degrees. We always take the upper bound as inclusive of the category under consideration. The zero which is the start of the categorization, is not included in any category. This we learn in simple Statistics.

Thus it should be 4th pada of Swati.

And the Jupiter-Rahu combination of this pada is eminently suitable for Saturn because like I mentioned in an earlier post, although Jupiter and Rahu conjunction gives Chandala Yoga, but Jupiter and Rahu effects give someone who tries to be very good where spiritual matters are concerned (Rahu drinks the nectar of immortality to try to be like Jupiter, the Guru of the Devas).

Rahu also acts as a bridge between Jupiter and Venus because according to Lal Katib, Venus+Jupiter conjunction gives effects like Rahu. And Venus is Saturn's best friend.

So with Saturn in this pada, Saturn's task of extracting spiritual knowledge from Jupiter is made easier.

Right, its not Vischika - its Vishaka. It is ruled by Jupiter, and the 1st pada falls to Aries. But still I am surprised to see how quickly you can counter your own arguments. Up till now exaltation point Saturn-Mars was all about energy to the weak old Saturn but now its Saturn-Jupiter with a great task of extracting spirituality.

Saturn doesn't prefer kingship, his 10th and 11th sign represents the service to throne and the marketplace. Saturn represents ordinary people - a marketplace where people are busy with buying and selling, weighing and balancing and at the same time making a fair profit. It represents a person who seeks fairness in relationships (Libra is the 7th sign) and also it shows a strict disciplined approach to desires and ambitions.

This is why the pada of mars bestows energy - to accomplish all that I've said...you can't apply spiritualism in the marketplace nor you can preach sermons to your boss at workplace. You have to be materialistic, quick and energetic to survive in such conditions.

If you look at Thatcher's chart - she has Saturn in Vishaka, 1st pada- she did become the prime minister but again she served under a monarch - which represents the duty to protect those under the divine right (Jupiter's star) and a responsible service to the community. Where as swati like you told represent a person becoming a monarch himself which is against the nature of Saturn.

toodle loo

Well quick or not in counteracting my stand, the last stand that I espouse especially on issues of Astrology, is usually correct. Like I said, when I wrote about the Saturn+Mars combination, I did have my doubts. But I type fast too, so as I typed, I did think about it.

The 11th house lord when contacting the 1st house or 1st house lord going to the 11th house, which as mentioned in a much earlier post, signifies someone who is a master of his senses and has a fair view of things. Saturn being the natural ruler of the 11th thus signifies the support to the throne (the 1st) and 11th being the 2nd of the 10th thus support the authority behind the throne.

Saturn being the natural ruler of the 10th means that whatever intelligence (Mercury) or kingship (Sun) that is obtained (the two aforesaid mentioned planets are karakas of the 10th) in the 10th house, is banked into Saturn. This means Saturn can be the king given the right conditions - democratic societies where the government is just means any body in the masses can be elected as President or Prime Minister depending on the system of governance for that democratic country.

Saturn is exalted in Libra, the 7th house, because 7th is the 10th of the 10th and 4th of the 4th, bridging both masses and authority together.

In a chart, Sun+Saturn together usually denotes someone who is usually a boss, he can go by charisma and soul in ruling his people, or he can go by the books. He is easily toppled, however, but that is another side to this conjunction.

You see 1st pada of Vishaka the exaltation point has passed, and hence the monarchy obtained is less than the 4th pada of Swati itself, where the monarchy has absolute power. And as I mentioned above, Saturn can have the absolute power, answerable to the masses in general, and to no one in particular. In that sense, 4th pada of Swati is the maximum exaltation point of Saturn.

My earlier comments of Jupiter and Rahu in the 4th pada of Swati still stand and how Rahu can give Saturn access to a lot of spiritual knowledge by doing the bridging function between Venus and Jupiter. Regarding needing Mars for the execution, as far as spirituality is concerned, you need a benefic to be around. 1st pada of Vishaka are all malefics influence. Even tapastva, the extreme penance for spiritual people, need Venus besides Ketu.

MYTH OR FACT :

Besides the Bhavat Bhavam Principle, we can use the square of a number, to see how intimately connected one house is to the other.

1 x 1 = 1

1st house is only intimately connected to itself.

2 x 2 = 4

2nd house is intimately connected to the 4th.

3 x 3 = 9

3rd house is intimately connected to the 9th.

4 x 4 = 16 - 12 = 4

4th house is again intimately connected to itself.

5 x 5 = 25 - 24 = 1

5th house is intimately connected to the 1st.

6 x 6 = 36 - 36 = 0

6th house is intimately connected to the 12.

7 x 7 = 49 - 48 = 1

7th house is intimately connected to the 1st.

8 x 8 = 64 - 60 = 4

8th house is intimately connected to the 4th.

9 x 9 = 81 - 72 = 9

9th house is again intimately connected to itself

10 x 10 = 100 - 96 = 4

10th house is intimately connected to the 4th

11 x 11 = 121 - 120 = 1

11th house is intimately connected to the 1st

12 x 12 = 144 - 144 = 0

12th house again is intimately connected to itself.

The above has to be borned in mind by astrologers when making delineations.

Note that if you go from multiplier to multiplicand like for example from 3rd to 9th, it means you have an exalted 3rd house placement, it will give 9th house effects. Generally that is the theme. If you start from the multiplicand itself, for example the 9th house, it means this house has some attributes of the 3rd house incorporated in it. This is the theme.

MYTH OR FACT :

For Cancer Ascendant, Mars and Jupiter are very auspicious.

For Capricorn Ascendant, Mercury and Venus are very auspicious.

Why?

Cancer Ascendant, Mars rules 5th and 10th. But 5th is the 9th of the 9th. So Mars has the effect as if it is ruling the 9th and the 10th. Jupiter rules 6th and 9th. But 6th is the 9th of the 10th. We know the 9th to any house is a higher quality of that house, just like 9th to Lagna is better than the 1st house. Thus Jupiter is ruling 9th and a better octave of 10th as well.

Capricorn Ascendant - Same logic as for Cancer Ascendant but replace Mars with Venus and replace Jupiter with Mercury.

So it not just Taurus Ascendant having the best of both worlds of the 9th and 10th under the single rulership of Saturn.

If Sri Ganesha's 108 Names are recited while offering red flowers, all the eight types of troubles and difficulties can be overcome. If the 108 names are chanted while offering red hibiscus flowers, povery is completely destroyed and wealth and prosperity will increase greatly.

Use the photo in the link above as a proxy for the idol of Ganesha and then use red flowers to propitiate while the chant is in progress. Red Hibiscus should encompass more than the average red flower because wealth and prosperity shuld include the removal of troubles and difficulties.

But there is no harm in including both types of flowers.
