I have mercury, venus and mars in 4th house with Aries asc.

Thanks for the insight. It looks like Saptarishis Magazine is of the same opinion of you as well since they did not bring in this factor for cancellation ie. planets in its fall in retrogression and your examples are also edifying.

Another thing I want to clarify about this post on how to incorporate aspects.

Now we know Mercury+Venus is a powerful Rajastic combination. But even for non-Sattvic activities like writing a book, some planets are better at it, in this case being the Moon (for iedas and imagination) and Jupiter (for quality of thought). So if they cannot combine with Mercury and Venus as conjuncting planets, how to incorporate the power pair (Mercury+Venus) and Moon+Jupiter so that the person becomes a fantastic writer?

This is where dispositorship or aspects can come into the picture. Like my Mercury+Venus is in Pisces in D-7 in the 3rd house of writing. It is disposited by Jupiter so Jupiter comes into the picture. Moon is the Ascendant in D-7 so this is another way how other planets can come into the picture.

If on the other hand, Moon or Jupiter were to participate in the conjunction, then the Rajastic element would be watered down.

So same with all other non-Sattvic activities like cooking, singing etc. Mercury and Venus alone does not mean they can completely master all subjects. They only give the necessary Rajastic push.

For Sattivic activities eg. conjuncting in the 9th house, as I have already mentioned earlier conjuncting of Sattvic planets would hold sway.

So in astrology, we have to juggle the factors so that better judgements can be made.

Retrogression came up so I am trying to state a principle taught by Visti Larsen.

A retrograde malefic is a curse when in own sign/exaltation and in the beneficial houses. Whereas his placement in dusthana when in own sign/exaltation will act like a vipareet raja yoga and destroy enemies.
Opposite will happen in his debilitation sign.
Malefic here are natural malefics not functional.

A benefic if retrograde, his placement in debilitation is ONLY auspicious when in Dusthana. Otherwise in kendra or trikona he will act like a curse.
Opposite will happen in the exaltation sign.

It is an interesting thought.
So we have 3 parms in the mix for retrograde planets- basic nature(natural benefic vs malefic), placement(kendra/trikone vs dusthana), state (exaltation vs debiliation)
I have not seen enough horoscopes to validate or discount it completely.

In Katie Holme's horoscope Jupiter's results are not against this principle. She has exalted and retrograde benefic in a kendra in a good house.

as per the lordships .... i feel for the ascendants of ... Mercury venus saturn signs ....the Mercury + venus combo is good as .... they are benefics .... though i am not that sure about this , but the lordships of the planets need to be taken in to account , rite ?

Lets take the case of Mercury + venus in 7th house ...lets say for gemini asc --- Mercury is eunuch ... and Venus is awesome ....so my doubt is " is Mercury spoiling the effects of venus here ? "



now regarding the combination of mercury and venus in 1th house .... 29-03-1991 11-10 am Hyderabad .... Gemini asc .... in navamsa venus is debilitated . Pls predict the outcome of this combo ...

moreover ...merc exchanges with mars in rasi chart ...

For cancer lagna both Mercury and Venus are functional malefic.....So what if they are conjuct in the third house in Virgo along with Ketu????

Thanks for the author who started such an informative thread. Anyone would like to make a wild guess about the native's career - Actor/Music Director, Lawyer, Politician, Doctor, Saint ??

NB: Venus is Atmakaraka AK and Mercury is Amatyakaraka AmK irrespective of 7 or 8 charakaraka scheme. I have used 8 scheme.

Some notes from Divisional charts:

1) Conjunction of 2nd Lord Sun with 11th Lord Venus in D1 Lagna. Venus is Atmakaraka and it joins natural AK Sun in Lagna. From Arudha Lagna its position is 10th (Sun+Venus)

2) Lagna lord Moon is in 4th and in Parivartana with 4 Lord Venus in D1 Lagna.

3) 6th Lord Jupiter is in 12th with 12th Lord Amk Mercury in own house.

4) Arudha Lagna has Moon and Exalted Saturn in Libra. From AL, planets are placed only in 9th and 10th. 3 planets in AL9 Me,Ju and Ma and in AL10 Sun and Ve. Also from AL, 10th lord Moon is in AL and AL Lord Venus is in 10th.

6) AK Venus is Exalted in D9 Lagna and D3 Lagna and in Lagna in most of the Divisional Charts.

7) Trines in Navamsa has Exalted Venus,Moon and Sun. Exalted Saturn aspects AK Venus in D1 and Saturn from own house aspects Exalted Venus in D9.

D10 Lagna lord Jupiter in 10th house and 10th Lord Mercury in Lagna. There is a AK Venus + AmK Mercury conjunction in D10 Lagna.

I have this combination - Mercury+Venus, at 13(merc)+14(venus) degrees Pisces.
Both are Retrograde.

It takes place in my 9th or 10th house.

(I say "or" because long story short, I recently had a reading with a well known/respected astrologer over skype and he was "betting 100%" that I was Gemini rising, not the Cancer rising that I've been going by. - my chart shows Cancer rising at only 1 degree, so it's quite possible to switch to Gemini if my birthtime was off a bit - so he's gone to do a rectification).

But none the less, it's a "true" merc+venus only conjunction, like you described Khoo.


I also have the two conjunct in D3(cancer) and Saptamsa (Sagittarius).

I know a person with this combination in the 8th house. Scorpio lagna so Mercury is in own house. The person is in the 30s a very good talker but financial wise earning very average only & has no inheritance worth speaking about.
