I have Surya as 9th house lord in 9th house. I always felt more attached to this placement than to my lagna lord in 5H in bhava chart. Whenever I feel tired or distressed, if I go outside and offer a simple prostration to the Sun I always feit a great positivity and rejuvenating energy.

Hari:

Also you would be too attached to your father than anyone else and you may be religious and God fearing from young age itself and have some philosophical inclination from young age.

Dev,
Yes I am very attached to my father. But in the past we used to have bitter arguments too. "karako bhava nasaya" was in full play in my childhood. There is no dearth of egos on both sides !! :D But thankfully things have changed since I entered youthhood. Yes I am attracted to spiritual matters.....

Yes, true. I have seen in some cases, after the child is born with sun in 9th, his or her father luck favoring him then due to other reasons like getting a new car, winning a lottery or so on.
Also only when sun and sat are together, they will never get along with their father and there will be total dislike too.

Dev,
Due to some pressing work, I was unable to visit this forum frequently. Hencethe delay in replying. Yes, afte my birth, my father got a promotion and was also able to fulfil a long cherished dream of his; viz - building a house of his own. I have heard him saying that, before my birth the family was in straitened circumstances. So yes, what you said is correct.

From practical experience, I have noticed that strong sun people get social recognition very quickly even for relatively minor accomplishments because of the natural confidence/charisma that they radiate when people see them.

People with neecha sun (or sun in 12th house) have to work that much harder to gain approval. Sun is not the only graha determining social success and other dignified planets can help overcome a bad sun in your chart and still get you enough success in life. Typically they also have missing father figures and hence need to look up to the divine for fatherly guidance. Career progress is usually slow.

However, Sun drives Ego and the downfall of a strong sun in one's chart if it is not supported by Jupiter is that the person becomes very egotistic. Usually in such cases (for most normal human beings), the native's father has always been promoting their ego from a very young age and this may spoil the person since they expect everyone to recognize even their minor achievements when in reality no one might care about it. In other words, a strong sun person constantly needs their ego to be validated socially. While this may bode well for material success in our current world, it is not a plus for spiritual progress.

Hello astroKid_84 - Interesting explanation, but I always thought a strong Sun gives high level of ego. I have a debilitated Sun and have lacked any god father at work place and hence have to work very hard to achieve anything. And yes, Career progress is slow as far as I can say.

Thanks

Yes Varun, a strong Sun gives high level of ego.
When sun is with enemies or when debilitated, the person would not have god father at work place and hence have to work very hard to achieve anything. The difference would be that in the former case, fights would be there and he would succeed eventually depending on the strength of the sun.

Hi Dev,
How would it be, if the Sun is 1) in his own house in Navamsa, and 2) debilitated in Navamsa?

Hi Dev I have debilitated Sun as lord of 10H placed in 12H. However, I have noticed my Sun sub-periods are particularly helpful and I gain a lot of confidence during those periods.
Thanks Verma

So you mean with debilitated Sun(not just in D-1 but in D-9 and in other divisional charts) there is no scope of success?

See sun alone does not decide success, though sun is a very important planet and its being neecha in all divisional charts would mean not high positions, no fame and no dynamism and boldness and courage to rule. If overall horoscope is good, other good things can happen but still sun is needed for courage to rule, u cannot become a boss.
