There is making money, keeping money and enjoying money.

I wonder what the aim here is. I have seen some earn great deal of money and lose it all/most of it. A lot of yesteryear movie actors were like that. They made money enough for buying houses, cars, jewelry and luxuries, but lost all of it once they can't act or got addictions or cheating/bad investments.

There are some who are steady builders. All their life they aren't fancy or anything. Living in a two-room house but investing little bits here and there and saving. I have seen two teachers earn money that way. Their investments early in life on real estate paid off by the time of retirement to make them really rich. Yet, they live like they aren't.

And, then "enjoying" money. Some of them workholics or politicians or businessmen with black money under constant stress. I am not sure they enjoy money at all. During Harshad Mehta case, a great scandal on having suitcases full of money, yet the guy died from stress and heart-attack.

Perhaps, "rich" definition follows that gives the "feeling of rich" for the person. Just like, "happiness" is dependent on the feeling of the person rather than external definitions. There is a timing aspect to both in addition to the amount.
