Rahu Alone or Rahu Conjunct with a Planet

Hi all,

Have Rahu conjunct Saturn (Lord of a trine) placed in the fourth house. What do you all make out of it? 6th feb, 79, 13.24, rajkot.

Ketu can be more destructive if it is inauspiciously positioned in the horoscopes. Ketu destroys the potency of the planet with which it is conjunct making the planet behave in an uncontrollable manner.

In my case Rahu is a standalone planet in Swati Nakshatra(Li ) with lord Venus in 10th house in Cancer.Despite being a strong placement for Rahu I dont think it has given me good success.I am fortunate to have been born in a wealthy family having a business and so became an industrialist by default , however the Rahu's placement has not given me great success,atleast not yet.

The first major Rahu bukthi that I had was between 2000/08 and 2003/07. I would say that this period gave mixed results. I passed my CA exams (after a 2yr struggle) in Aug 2000 and went abroad in Aug 2002 but in between there were some humiliating professional life experiences(was very thankful that I left for US) that I could have avoided if I had been more careful.

In my experience :

--Ketu is inherently a malefic alright but with much less destructive potential than Rahu, and also much less upside even if well placed.

--While Rahu can propel a person to great heights such as the charts of poster called technocrat29 and anu_d in this forum or the great dhirbhai ambani.......or great sorrows and destructions such as poster called Hanna in this forum.
Ketu is limited is the benefit it will do ( no windfall gains).....even when very well placed such as the chart of gchinnu24 in this forum.
similarly the worst of Ketu is also not as earth shattering. On the scale of things if Rahu on it's own is capable of Cancer (disease) and Cardiac arrest scale of size.....Ketu on it's own is cuts, burns brusises or broken bones scale of size.

--ketu is more of a nuisance planet...will always cause nusiances even when well placed......detachment towards the significations of the Bahvaa it sits in, delays, hurdles....not capable of destroying it on it's own. It's worst manifestations are when it is on 1-7 ( or 7-1) axis......almost non-stop bickerings, unavoidable situations of mental and small phsyical troubles in relationships often hurting self....unless it is mitigated by otehr factors...such a excessive strength of those houses/ their lords and benefic aspects.
These get severe in Ketu Dasa...and yet on it's own Ketu won't be able to break things.
The marriage/ sex and progeny related houses feel Ketu's bite more because on top of being a general nuisance it is listed as enunch planet.

--While the head of the dragon (or snake) Rahu is symbolic of forwad propullsion and the Karmik free-will /desire availbale to "push the limit", "break all barriers".....ketu( the headless, vison-less tail) is the symbolic of constraining Karmik curses, devoiding the native to move forward and with little control he has in that area.

--The best placement for Ketu is the 12th house when as the Moksha-Karak it has found way into the house of Moksha...indicating the native is getting closer towards final emanciaption and carrying lesser burden of Karmik curses. And the worst is Ascendant...and theories have it (not scriptures) that as soul evolves throuhg re-births learning it's lessons, paying it's Karmik debts......Ket moves towards the final goal...the 12th house. Ketu in 12th is not necessarily the last birth but an indicator that sould may have moved towards the last set of births.

--because of the limited upside and damages ( relative to other heavy weights in the horoscope)....I perosnally spend less time examining Ketu, unless it is afflicting the ascendant by conjunction ( whihc means Rahu is in the 7th) or it is in the 7th...in both cases Ra-Ket together are affecting the house of marriage ( not Ketu on it's own) or if it is in the Putra-Bhaav delaying conception....whihc it invariably does in the 5th house of Rasi or Saptamsa.

Rahu's conjunction gives intresting results..
what if rahu is with saturn in 11th house(kanya rashi) ..
during sadhe sati what will the incumbent face..
as shilpaji pointed out... rahu becomes twice strong ..
will it be like twin sadhe saati.s?

I concur with mannu..I am under ketu MD and it has created havoc in my life especially w.r.t Career/income...Incidentally it is placed in the 2nd house of wealth/income thereby creating hurdles in w.r.t the significations of the 2nd house ...Shilpa's points above on ketu are also spot on and very useful

Ketu is not conjunct with any planet in your chart...... sitting in Kumbh ( the own house of Rahu) placed in the Nakshatra of Rahu...hence it is giving significations of the house that Rahu sits in.
And where is Rahu in your chart?
In the eight house !!...so during the Ketu dasa in addtion to the general charcater of Ketu you may get a some / lot of 8th house effects also IMO

Yes,ur right shilpa..nakshatra lord of ketu is rahu ill-placed in the 8th (Interestingly there is a NK exchange btwn rahu and ketu)..Co-owner of aquarius also happens to be rahu again ..So this is one of the factors..Moreover ,my ketu in the 2nd is aspected by 3 planets from the 8th so 8th significations come to the fore...Overall even from SAV pt of view ,2nd house has only 21 points so ketu dasha was bound to give obstacles...thanks for the input though...How come u still remember my birth details ..??

My Ketu is conjunct with Mars (Virgo ascendant and therefore malefic by all counts) in 9th house, but I have always gained in the Ketu antardashas (Mars as well as Rahu MDs). Is it because Ketu is in Sun's nakshatra which itself is in the 11th house or because it is 11th form the AL? Would like to know your thoughts. I think you already may have my birth details (10th August 75, Khonsa, 9:08 AM). Thanks for your time

Maybe the Rahu helped me in keeping count. The struggle that I was talking about was just the last 2 years - didnt mention the period lost before that

--Mars in the 9th is in the friendly house of Venus ( through permanent + temporal realtions).

--Read the conjunction rule at the start of this thread..for RaHU. Similary Ket in conjunctions acts like the planet that it is with if that planet is strong....whih Mars is becaie of friendly placement here.
And it also is known to act like Mars whihc it consdiers it's friend.

therefore thsi conjunction is acting like friendly mars maginfied.

-therefore in Ket antardasa you will get 9th hosue and strong Mars like benefic results such as welath from properties, support fincnaial or other wise from brother, bonus / reward for leadership acts at work...and so on.

--however at the same time by nature Ketu will create some nuisance in 9th house. How has your father's realtionship been with you and his health in general and during Ketu periods ?

--Ket in the 6th house takes away the ruthless ability to suppress enemies.
even with enemy/ oponet at your feet...you may let him go only for him to come back and hurt you.

--But since Ketu is in the nakshatra of Jupiter and Jup exalted in the 11th house...ket will give the siginifcations of the 11th house i.e income, gains, wish fullfilment to you during it's sub-dasas.So although it makes you mild and soft in adversity....who ever told you Ket will benefit you was right.

--12th house of Moksha is not a good place at all for materialistic Rahu. And in the house of Leo Sat is weak and also lower in degree than Rahu...who will take over the weak planet conjuncting it ( Sat here).
During the shani periods and sub-periods...the dark, creepy, moral-less side of Rahu will manifest.

--The Sade sati that you are runnign may not have been a great period for you.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, professionally this period had been quite beneficial as you said. My relationship with my father has been generally good, however I have been away from home a long time. So on many occasions I could not be of much help when they needed me to be there with them. Appreciate your time..
