KP Basics in 15 Minutes !

1) Solar Mansions/Rasi: There are 12 signs in the zodiac and each of around 30 degrees.

2) Lunar Mansions/ Nakshatras/ Constellations: They are 27 stars of 13 Degrees 20 Minutes each. They are divided into 4 Equal Padas/Quarters of 3Degrees 20 Minutes each.

3) Lunar Mansions are governed by the 9 planets.

4) Each planet rules over 3 Zones/Star/Constellation at an interval of 120 Degrees.

5) These Zones/Star/Constellation modify the results of planets transiting the zodiac.

6) Ascendant and Cusp of houses move faster than the Planets, and this explains rapid changes such as happiness followed by immense sudden grief.

7) Ascendant takes the following time:
- In Zodiac Sign  Around 2 Hours
- In Constellation  Around 50 – 58 Minutes
- In Sub-Lords  5-6 Minutes (Hint: Can be used in birth time rectification)

Order of Sub Lord is As follows: (Always starts with Ruler of Constellation)
- Sun
- Moon
- Mars
- Rahu
- Jupiter
- Saturn
- Mercury
- Ketu
- Venus

9) Each planet owns 3 Stars. Remember them and in which Houses are they positioned. For that, please look at the colourful table I made.





10) Main theory of KP. You judge planets according to the following rules:
- Sign the planet X occupies shows the planet’s strength/position.
- See the planet X is in which Star/Constellation.
- Note the houses owned by the Lord of the Star/Constellation.
- Note the house occupied by the Lord of the Star/Constellation.
- Planet X will therefore show matters signified by Houses owned/occupied by Lord of Star of Constellation.
- Further find out the Sub-Lord where Planet X is positioned.
- Sub-Lord will show if things will be failure/loss/difficulty, or success/gain/happiness as related to nature of matter signified by Lord of the Star/Constellation.
- Planet X if is in Enemy Sub: will show failure, loss, difficulty
- Planet X if is in Friend Sub: will show success, gain, happiness
- When will things happen? In the Conjoined period of Planet + Lord of Star/Constellation + Sub Lord


11) Very Important:
- Learn what each Star/ Constellation mean.
- To each rasi, which Star/Constellation are benefic /disadvantageous.


12) Planet X will predominantly show matters signified by the House OCCUPIED by LORD OF STAR/CONSTELLATION.
Example:
Aquarius Lagna. Sun occupies 3rd House, owns 7th House.
Therefore Planet X in Sun constellation will predominantely show results of 3rd house, but 7th house will be enjoyed too.

Example :

Capricorn Lagna. Mars Occupies 6th house, but owns 4th and 11th House.
Therefore Planet X in Mars constellation will predominantely show results of 6th house, but 4th and 11th house results will be enjoyed.




13) Planet X and Planet Y are in the same Star/Constellation:
- Constellation signifies Marriage.
- X is in enemy sub
- Y is in friend sub
- Therefore planet X period .. Failure, difficulty, loss, separation related to Marriage
- Therefore planet Y period .. Success, happiness, gain, union related to Marriage



14) Rahu and Ketu in KP:

- Planet X in Star/Constellation of Rahu or Ketu will show matter signified by Houses OCCUPIED BY THEM.
- How to judge results of planets in this case? Look at
1- Planets conjoined with Rahu/Ketu
2- Planets aspecting Rahu/Ketu
3- Lord of Constellation its where Rahu/Ketu is found
4- Result of Sign
- REMEMBER: Unlike other planets, Rahu/Ketu give results to a much greater extent that that of the lord of the constellation.
Example:
Aquarius Lagna. Saturn owns 1st and 12th house.
Rahu is found in Saturn Star/Constellation.
Therefore , Rahu will produce results of Saturn/ 1st and 12th House.
One has to imagine that Rahu itself is in 1st/ 12th house and as if Saturn itself is in its Constellation.



15) If Lagna is occupied by Planet X and Owned by Planet Y. Then any planet in the Star/Constellation of Planet Y (the owner of the lagna) primarily, and secondly any planet in Star/Constellation of Planet X will signify matter of LAGNA.



16) If Lagna is EMPTY.

- Check Lord of Lagna.
- Check which planet is in Star/Constellation of Lord of Lagna.
- This planet will indicate matters of Lagna.
IF NO PLANET IS FOUND IN LAGNA LORD STAR/CONSTELLATION.
THEN  Lord of lagna gives Bhava results.

Example:
Leo Lagna. Therefore Sun is Lagna Lord. Lagna is EMPTY. Also, No planets in Sun STARS/Constellations.
Sun is in Moons Star.
Moon is in 9th house, and owns 12th house.
Therefore Sun will generally signify matters by 9th and 12th house.





17) How to judge whether a planet is Benefic/Malefic?

Hindu Traditional system :
Benefics: Jupiter, Venus, Unafflicted Mercury, Waxing Moon
Malefics: Sun, Mars, Saturn, Rahu, Ketu

Western System:
Benefics: SUN, Jupiter, Venus, Unafflicted Mercury, Waxing Moon
Malefics: Mars, Saturn, Neptune, Uranus
• Importance is given to Aspects to planets.
For Example Planet X is natural Malefic + it occupies evil houses, but it has aspect by benefic; therefore it is benefic.

KP SYSTEM:
- No Planet can be 100% Benefic or 100% Malefic.
- Planet X may be benefic to the person, but it may be malefic to live/prosperity of his/her spouse.
- Follow principle: Food for one man is poison to the other.
- Therefore, Key here is :



18) Planet X is benefic by Lordship. Then it offers these benefic results through Planets occupying its own constellation is SUB is also BENEFIC.
Example:
Scorpio Lagna. Jupiter owns 2nd and 5th House.
Matter to be seen : CHILDREN.
You go and check which planet is in Jupiters STAR/CONSTELLATION.
If SUB owns 11th house: Birth of Child in SUB PERIOD.
If SUB owns 12th house : No child in the SUB PERIOD.


CONCLUSION :
1) Constellation indicated matters signified by houses it OCCUPIES + OWNS
2) SUB Lord shows SUCCESS / FAILURE of the MATTER shown by Constellation.
3) SUB Lord is deciding Factor.
4) You shouldn’t note separately what each Planet signifies and then in which Sub each planet is positioned. Everything should be studied together.
5) REMEMBER : Main idea behind KP : is concentrate on LUNAR MANSIONS/Nakshatras!

1) Occupant of a constellation is STRONGER than lord of constellation.
2) Constellation is STRONGER than the sign.
3) Occupant of a sign is STRONGER than the lord of the sign.

To study KP. You should buy Book Reader 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
Book 1 talks about How to construct a birth chart. Mathematics/ Geoastronomy / Kundli Ganit
Book 2 explains 12th Houses, 12th signs, the 12 planets
Book 3 Explains nakshatras and introduces to KP System
Book 4 MARRIAGE
Book 5 Transits Gochara
Book 6 Prasna Kundli

If you understand what I wrote here, then you have covered basic KP theory from Book 1, 2 and half of 3.
Book 1 is not necessary if you mainly will use software to calculate. Book 2 is important as you need to know what 12th houses/signs/planets mean and signify.
You also must know what Each Nakashatra mean, signify, its lors and sub lords.
The following is a summary of KP theory Section from Page 1 to Page 150 in Reader 3 . The rest of Book 3 is application of the rules i summarized. So if you study them carefully, you have almost done the entire book!

The owner is strong when -

a) occupant is in enemy's sign or neecha
b) lord of the sign is exalted
c) lord of the sign is conjoined with a planet in it's own sign

If owner is strong, the ranking of significator will vary as below. Most of the KP astrologers are not following this important KP rule.

3)Planets in the star and sub of planets in the Bhava

I have excluded meanings of nakshatras and what they signifiy, coz knowing the principles is main founding step. Then, what nakshatras signify that all will come with time and practice or u might as well just refer to the book lol .

Ra is in 4th in Vi. Hence Su should give results of 9th (occupation), 4th and 1st(Ra being a proxy to Me) and again 9th (since Me is also in 9th). Hre Su as occupant is weak since it is enemy's sign. Sa the bhava lord is stronger in shadbala placed in Sg with Ju. Will this change the results given by Su in this MD?
2. You have spoken about 120 deg aspect. In Traditional Jyothish we have 7th (180 deg), 3rd (90 deg by Sa), 5th (150 deg by Ju/Ra..), 4th (120 deg by Ma) and 8th(240 deg by Ma). Are KP aspects different? Also will it work in Vim dasha periods of the planets involved in aspect or in planets placed in nakshatra of planets involved in aspect?
3. I vaguely remember reading references to house cusp nakshatra lord and sub. What are they used for?

Answer to 1 is point 12
and your Question is wrong , no where is it mentioned Bhava lord is strongER. Whats mentioned is Bhava lord is strong , but Alaways Nakshatra Lord and SUB are more prominent but Bhava lord is important to u. You have to take everything in consideration.

Answer to 2 : What 120 Degrees aspect?
Point 4 clearly states that:
4) Each planet rules over 3 Zones/Star/Constellation at an interval of 120 Degrees.

That means Each planet will own 1 Nakshatra at an interval of 120 Degrees. So for example Ketu owns first Nakshatra, therefore next Nakshatra owned by Ketu is 120 Degrees away from the first one .
THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ASPECTS!

Answer to 3: I dont know what u r trying to say. But, look at my conclusion:

Example:
X is born at 8 Degrees 23 Gemini
Therefore his Lagna starts from 8 Degrees 23 Gemini and not 0 Degrees Gemini

In another instance, Rahu is placed in a good house in a chart- however, it is in its own nakshatra. What will its effect be then?
I understand KP system works a lot on nakshatras, so your input would be appreciated.

What is Yog-Karaka?

In a birth chart, 4, 7, 10 house are called ‘Kendra houses’ and houses 5 and 9 are termed as ‘trikona houses’. Any relation between and ‘Kendra’ and a ‘trikona’ gives good results. When a single planet is the lord of a ‘Kendra’ and a ‘trikon’, it is capable of giving good result as a relation between a Kendra and trikona. Such a planet is called a ‘yog karka’.

1) For transits, i will make another post soon saying KP Transit in 15 minutes , but currently im working on Marriage and KP and soon ill make Marriage in KP in 15 minutes, then Prasna KP in 15 minutes and lastly Transits in KP in 15 minutes because the others are of more importance.

2) YES, there are generally MULTIPLE significators of each house. You have to study which one is more important by seeing how many connections it has with the concerned house, the more connections, the more important. Also remember, Rahu and Ketu is more powerful than planets as a significator in KP.

3) I dont like mixing Hindu traditional Yoga in KP.. I havent seen any in the 6 KP books.

1) Think of planet as a light torch. Nakshatras as colored paper. Nakshatras filter effect of planets , and SUB too. Thus planets in different Nakshatras and different SUB have different colors and thus different result.

3) Answer is in Point 13, 17, 18. No planet is completly benefic/malefic in KP. You have to analyze if the planet is benefic/malefic in each case. there is no general rule. KP is about ANALYZING EACH BIRTH CHART BASED ON ITS OWN SEPARATE COMBINATION.

If anyone has/buys the book Predictive Stellar Astrology, you will see that page 1- 151 talks about KP Basics, and all principles discussed in that is given in the 18 points. I havent missed anything. I have read and re-read that section 4 times while making the summary.
After page 151, there are KP practicals of charts analysed using the 18 points for different purposed. for that i will create a new thread.
