Sakata yoga is formed when the Moon is in the 6th, 8th, or in the 12th from Jupiter. The fortunes of those born with this yoga rise and fall again and again through out life just like a cart wheel (Sakata means cart) which turns round and round as it rolls down the road. When the moon is in kendra from the lagna this yoga is null and void.

Through hard work and spiritual practices, a person gets honor and dignity. The lazy one who puts in no efforts is like a fool who allows salt to be spilled on the wounds of his misfortunes. The idler depending only on fate, achieves nothing. - K.N.Rao ji
You really do bring out the best in me. It's really nice for the forum to have you around.
here is another interpretation of "Sakata Yoga"
Sakata yoga is produced in the birth chart if Guru and Moon are posited in a 6/8 relationship from each other. But in case Guru is placed in a angle with respect to the lagna this yoga will not manifest and no trouble will be caused.
I agree that Guru placed in the 6th, the 8th and the 12th from the Moon is a cause for concern and Sakata yoga rises to play it's part.

I don't have even a fraction of your knowledge in astrology, Astroboy. I am glad at least I can ask the right questions so that the forum illuminates like you can enlighten us all.
I am busy going "Nuts" sirji . It's sane people like you who keep me going . Thank you.

My two cents on this. In sakata yoga, after u hit a rock bottom u can definitely be sure that u r not down and out. The sine curve will go up again. And at the same time, when the going is good it gives u a reminder that u cant take anything for granted bcos the curve is going to plummet down.
Very true Ramanan Sir. I have Jupiter to the 12th of moon and I can see the effects (moon and jup are 6/8 in navamsa). It's more of a mind situation as my lagna lord is moon too than any upheavals in the status realm .
I also have sakata yoga. But, I have never had many ups and downs. Maybe, bcos jupiter in his own house and moon in the star of jupiter. I dont know but life had been reasonably steady for me till date.
I have sakata yoga in rasi but not in navamsa... JU is in pisces in quadrant though...
I get a lot of opportunities to take stress related to money..even though it is not necessary 99.99 of the times.
Moon is in nakstara of ketu (Moola)..
I have atendency to take stress very easily but I am learning to avoid it now..
Now this Adhi yoga is a case of conflict between 2 yogas...Adhi and Sakata yoga.
Sakata yoga - JU is 6/8 realtionship to Moon.
So is you have a 6/8 relation betwen Ju and Moon you will automaticaaly have adhi yoga and Sakata yoga.
From that it seems the 2/12 realtionship between Ju is without the doubt the worst.
No redeeming yogas there.
I have seen horsoscopes with Sakata yoga but its effect has not been pronounced. It was very nominal- due to other yogas.
But let me tell you the effect is felt somehow by the subjects in terms of fortune fluctuation.
They rise after supposedly hitting rock bottom. It has tendency to give stress thoughout- Moon rules mind and is sustainer of all yogas in chart.
dear astroboy
as per your definition,i have the same moon in 12th to JU.but moon is in transition of two signs.and moon is ak to me,and of course it is having vargottama status also.depending on this how will be sakata yoga results?i wanto ask one more thing is is it depends on other factors like jup placement or conjuction of moon with other planets in same sign ,or moons dipositor etc or purely it will give result as per the definition?
best regards
thanking you for your sharing...
I want to clarify some points on Sakata Yoga once and for all.
First let's see what the classics have to say about this yoga.
Brihat Jataka chapter 12 shloka 13
Those born under Sakata Yoga earn their livelihood by means of trade in carts or hackney carriages, are always sickly, and possess ugly mean wives.
Jataka Parijata ch 7 shloka 109
The person born in the Sakata yoga be he of a royal family, becomes indigent and in consequence of the trouble and fatigue falling to his lot, he is always distressed and becomes an object of aversion to the king.
Jataka Parijata ch 7 shloka 175
The man whose birth is in the Sakata yoga will gain his livelihood by driving a cart, will be sickly and cursed with a bad wife.
Phaladeepaka ch6 shloka 17
The native who has his birth in a Sakata Yoga will often be unfortunate and may regain what he had once lost. His will be a very ordinary and insignificant birth in this world. Inevitably he will suffer from much mental agony and be exceedingly unhappy.

Hi Astroboy,
Nice to c u.
Regards,
RAMANAN
So true !! I have Sakta Yoga ...
Astroboy , those definitions will scare the *&^# out of anyone who has Sakata Yoga.
'वक्त से पहले और मुक़द्दर् से ज्यादा किसी को कुछ नहीं मिलता' - Neither before time nor beyond destiny, would you attain anything !
I think moon/jup in 6/8 position is much worse in the case of sakata. The 2/12 position also gives anapha/sunapha yoga which is a good yoga, so it can't be that bad
Now let us take a look at a live example where Sakata yoga destroyed the man. ??? Or did it ???
27 10 1965 @ 13.44 HRS @ Varanasi
Lagna is Makara @ 29 .32 Deg. Note the position of the Moon. Moon is debilitated in the Navamsha and Rashi. Guru is Retrograde. The subject is a chartered accountent. He works independently and earns just enough to make end's meet. no luxuries and extravagence. Some astrologers told him that his practice will pick up in Shukra dasha. Then the astrologer's finally concluded that the problem was because of Sakata Yoga.
But is it just the Sakata yoga which destroyed his rise in career ??? Note that the 8th lord Ravi is debilitated in the 10th house of "Career" along with the 6th lord. The upachaya part of the 6th lord functions well because no matter what, The man strive's hard to make end's meet. But the 6th is also a dusthana.
I have stressed several time's and I say it again. Look for confluence and confirmation of any yoga from the Moon. Moon is debilitated in Navamsha too. Do not forget that. From the Moon lagna the 10th lord is debilitated in the 12th house along with the 8th lord Budha. Moon by it's self is raped by every Malefic in the sky. What chance has the poor Romeo got ???
Now the Moot point is , How much has Sakata yoga contributed to this man's doom is anybodies guess.
Bottom line is this, No one yoga can make you or break you. But one strong yoga can indeed rule your life. No doubt about it.

Chak's Ji, I take the liberty of using Your horoscope for analysis.
Lagna is Karkataka. Guru is in the 2nd and Chandra is in the 3rd. Guru is in the 12th from the Moon. Here even though there is a Sakata Yoga based on the placement, The yoga is not strong because
1. Guru is with a Yoga karaka in a friendly Sign
2. Strong Malavya yoga to offset the ill effects of Sakata yoga.
However the full effects of Malavya yoga will be curbed by this Sakata Yoga.

Sir tell me, Have you ever been in a situation where you have thought that your word has not been adequately rewarded for ??? . A rise and fall in personal fortune ???

Not really Astroboy. Things have been more or less steady. I think sakata happens in the mind mostly for me. With vargotham cancer lagna and moon in hastha with ketu, it's all mental. I will be happy for no reason and can be down for no reason too. Beneath all that there is a thread of contentment that runs all the way too. So on the whole not too bad at all
There is a bigger stumbling block sir, Shani + Chandra in Navamsha . . I can understand your situation . Thank's for the clarification.

Yeah, I know. I am hoping it doesn't cause much damage beyond denial of marriage, which has been voluntary. You have written to me about it when we were discussing the sanyasa yoga.
