Hello to all forum members and respected Jyotishas.
I work as a researcher and am in the last stages of my PhD. I don't have a permanent job, my contract ends in end of 2026.
I am feeling shadowed by a feeling of discontent, anxiety, and disillusionment. I keep seeing faults in my own work, and whatever I do is never good enough for me. My discussions with most people rarely give me a feeling of fulfillment, which means I don't have a lot of like-minded people in my life with whom I can have authentic discussions at work or in private life.
My boss seems to be happy with my performance, but I find his praise inauthentic, as if he only wants to further his own goals. We're fine on a superficial level, but have no deeper relationship. Same with colleagues.
My inner voice is always detaching itself from all forms of attention - I don't want to be praised or be in the limelight, I just want to do my work well and go home. But the lack of like-minded people is demotivating. The prospect of switching to a different career in the private sector is attractive, at least it will provide some stability.
I have two questions: Should I stay in academia once done with my PhD in 2025? When can I expect some stability in life?
Following are my birth details : DOB: Sep 7th 1988, Chandigarh, India, Time: 12:40 am.
1. What is your education - Masters in IT, Pursuing PhD.
2. Date of joining the job - Feb 2019.
3. Current career situation - money-wise fine but my contract ends in end of 2026.
4. Reason for seeking a change - feeling discontented. It seems I don't seem to find the right people to work with.
5. Any other detail that is relevant to the question: Got married in Nov 2020, had a daughter on May 8th 2024.
Doubts and confusion about career direction - should I continue or change fields?

Your Gemini rising chart looks good for profession and you can continue with academia, but changes are possible as you will be entering unfavorable Ketu from May 2025 onwards till May 2032.
so, handle your discontent carefully.

If you have the right knowledge, EXACT predictions can be made. Astrology is an incredible tool for guidance, and one should take note of the energies of changing dasha lords.

Dear hdhiman,
I was analyzing your chart to better understand your situation. Born with Gemini Asc and lagna lord Mercury is quite strong and well placed - not just in Rasi but in Navamsa, Dasamsa and also in Siddhamsa.
You can safely bank on Mercury in your life - the Divine has blessed you with clear and sharp intellect.
Exalted planets (Mercury in your case) especially lagna lord can cause us to set high standards, seek excellence, reach for higher goals in our lives.
It is noteworthy that you are rolling towards end of Mercury Dasa (does not mean end of Mercury's positive influence) in May 2025. This seems aligning with your contract and PhD work.
Ketu is the next Dasa for 7 yrs and he's extremely closely conjunct with 3rd lord Sun.
I do believe there will be some unwelcome results from this - 3rd lord signifies hearing, communications - so there will be some negative impact to these areas.
As for your career directions, Jupiter is placed in the 10th from Ketu-Sun, Mercury is in the 2nd - both these planets are pointing to vocations of education, learning, teaching, guidance counseling, academics. Do recommend finding jobs that are natural to you, to help you express your talents and all the hard work you've done in your life.
Sun is your Atmakaraka planet and it is feeling eclipsed by Ketu - this can bring about disillusionment, fog up your thinking, frustration, mistrust in your surroundings. With Ketu dasa coming around, start your new direction with a simple Ganesha pooja/homa at your home with your family.
This will lessen the negativity in your minds and open up your spirits to clear horizons.
Best wishes

You entered the Dasa Chidra from September 2022 onwards, which marks the release of the 17-year-old Mercurial energy and the onset of the Ketu Mahadasha. Mercury, being well-placed, has imparted logical and rational thinking through life experiences over the past 16 years. Ketu, described as headless, symbolizes the decapitation of senses, including vision, and emphasizes making choices based on the heart and faith. You need to align yourself with this upcoming energy to feel contented. Ketu, in the Nakshatra of Purvaphalguni (previous life merits), is in close conjunction with the Sun (soul) in Pushkara Pada. Research roles, academia, spirituality, healthcare, and non-profits (Ketu in the 6th house in the Dasamsa) are favored during this period, especially if the contributions benefit others. Ketu does not desire anything. It will also bring a sense of ease, as you will operate using skills from past lives (Ketu – been there, done that). Avoid corporations and large hierarchies. You will find contentment once you understand your alignment, and the wisdom will be easily accessible for someone born under Jupiter’s Nakshatra. Wish you the best.
Hello, I can't open a new topic so i'm requesiting help here.
I want to understand how i can improve my welth and career.
(19, aug, 1996, 04:18 AM, Curitiba/Brazil)
I'm a lawyer. I don't know if i have to change the field of my law firm. Or go back to the university career. Or try to diversify (i think in making a youtube chanel about training (sports) or/and sociology).
Maybe the problem is that i have so many ideas. But i've been focused in my law firm for the last 4 year (family law) and i'm still suffering to survive.
