Hello dear seekers of Vedic Astrology,
Image

Having read so many posts in this section, Im looking at a range of quernts male/female ranging from those born 1980 till 1997 asking about marriage... Thats 38 years till 21 years of age...

I think its about time that we start debating/discussing/investigating
what is the new average age of Marriage in India?

What should we call early? What is normal? and what is late marriage?

Parameters:
- We are mainly looking at Marriage age of Indians in india and abroad

(Example: Average age in Germany is 33, Average Age in Indonesia is 21, so early/late marriage really depends on where you live)

Questions to be looked at:
- Does the querent come from big city or small village?
- whats the community/ caste / religion of the querent?
- whats the economic / social status of the querent / How financially independent is he?
- How attached is that person to his/her career?

I think this graph mistook Rural for Urban.
Studies revealed that more the age, less are the chances of divorce. Couples getting married after 25 years of age are less likely to get divorced. Moreover, if the woman is educated then she is more confident and can better handle the responsibilities of a family. Apart from this it has also been found out that tying a nuptial knot after 25 results in less intense arguments among the couple.
The only drawback of marrying late is the associated biological complication like conceiving a child. It has been found out that conception after 35 is difficult than in 20s and also the chances of miscarriage and diseases like Down syndrome and other genetics diseases increases to manifolds.
Indian law under the Hindu Marriage Act has defined the marriageable age of a boy and girl. Legally a boy in India needs to be 21 and girl needs to be 18 years of age at the time of marriage.

Going back to the 18th century, the minimum legal age to marry for a boy was 14 and for a girl it was 12 years in most parts of the country.

Hi Jupiterlight

I'd say 26-30 if a person is having average career or any personal aspirations are less.

If person is focused on something like PhD or doing something good for himself and for the society, then 30-36 or even more is not bad.

Of course for male 35-40 nowadays is common. For women 26-32 seems to be the average nowadays.

Kind regards

Nora

From the analysis I have done on so many horoscopes, early marriage is the reason for lot of unhappiness and causes rifts in families. Late marriage around 28-32 is much better. But due to karmic reasons people are married and have the fate to deal with marital conflicts. So its destiny.
A lot of problems will go away if we have good thoughts, deeds, actions and help humanity. We are here on earth to enjoy and suffer for our past life karma. Each one has their own life path. Live and Let Live.

I found ur reply very interesting.
Im just a student learning astrology as of now
Isnt it true that karmic relationships do not work out?
So if majority people getting married facing conflicts due to karmic relation then why dont most of these end up in divorce? ( as karmic bond isnt meant to flourish..but to teach and break)

Please correct me if im wrong anywhere
Thank You

So nicely written sir.
But major events like marriage takes place only when we are destined for it. in my case the influence of saturn is causing delay. What are the no marriage yogas in horoscope?

Hi,
Many couples are destined to suffer in the marriage so they dont divorce. Due to kids, society, fear, finances etc they stay in the marriage even if they are not happy.

Karmic bond to suffer in marriage. Very few have happy marriage and few divorce and find happy second marriage.
A lot of problems will go away if we have good thoughts, deeds, actions and help humanity. We are here on earth to enjoy and suffer for our past life karma. Each one has their own life path. Live and Let Live.

@Helius

I saw the link you shared in the PMY thread. I have to say, it's pretty much spot on for the current age of information.

18-21 and 22-25: I still think that in rare charts, these may be "soulmate" types where they discover each other early enough and get married - happily married. But it's rare.

Generally, these days 35-40 has also become increasingly popular for marriages. As you mentioned, these marriages usually stem more from other facets of life than love. I have seen people find "true love" in their 40s and because of the whole social media boom, it's become really easier for people above 35 to date these days.

In an Indian context, yes 26-30 seems to be the ideal period and even in general, for having babies and all, that's the best period to get married. Of course, with science and medicine now, it's possible to have babies well into your 40s.

I have also observed that people are less willing to have babies in their 20s unless they're really well off financially or the family pressure is too much.

As Dr Anjna mentioned, early marriage is anything below 25. 26 - 32 is normal. And, 33+ is late. We might also need a new category now of post-late.

It's astonishing how marriage is changing and relationships in general.

Say in an urban non-Indian context, two people may never get married but what if they ended up living together for 25 or 30 years? How would you define that?
