Hi there!
I've been a student of Western astrology for many years, but now have a newfound interest in Vedic and I'm excited to learn more.
One thing that has jumped out at me is my Saturn in Aries, obviously reading up on it has been a little troubling. However, my Saturn is retrograde and in the 7th house. I guess my question is, does this nullify the debilitation? Or at least make it slightly less malefic?

Thanks in advance!

Planets go retrograde only when they are closest to the earth. That's why a retro planet gets more strength and its influence will be more.
The retro planet shows the areas of life that do not keep up to speed with the rest of life. They indicate some delays, refusals, etc.
Retrogression is only a measure of strength. That's all. It does not indicate good or bad nature.
We have to find out its good or bad significations thru that planet's house connections and links.
If it is connected to 6th,8th,12th houses, it delivers evil results.
Otherwise, even a retro planet can give most beneficial results.

Saturn in Aries means debilitated. If it is in retrogression, it means, Saturn was very nearby earth at the time of birth. So Saturn having much strength. But, this cannot nullify debilitation.
It only means, though Saturn is in debilitation, still he is having much much strength.
Good or bad, can be determined by studying house connections.

Sorry for jumping into rosedork's post. What if Saturn is retrograde in libra lagna ifself? Everything will be delayed but the result will be good? Thanks.

If Saturn is in Libra lagna itself. it means Saturn signifying lagna. Since it is in exaltation and retro it gives
2 fold/double strength and yoga too. Must check star level significations for qualities.

dear, don't disrespect ascendant degrees.
If lagna is 20 degrees in Libra and Saturn is in 18 degrees, then, it means, Saturn is well behind lagna.
It implies Saturn is in 12th house. He is no more signifying lagna. Lagna gets a small amount of Saturn's influence.
Just check it out in the chart.
