Dear Shrikantji and all learned members,

Could you please teach me about how aspect works? Rather let me ask a few questions:

(a) Is Shani's Dhristi always harmful?
(b) Are the aspects of an exalted Shani and a debilitated shani—the same?
(c) Is Mangal's Dhrishti always harmful?
(d) Do Rahu Ketu have Dhristi? If yes, then which houses from his placement?
(e) Between Shani aspecting the 5th house and shani aspecting the 6th house, which one should be better for an individual? or between mangal aspecting the 12th house and mangal aspecting the 9th house, which one is less harmful to the individual? (I don't know whether I am getting my self across).

Sorry for asking such elementary questions. I would be most grateful if somebody explains this to me.

Shrikanth Ji,

Please elaborate on the nature of aspects.
If a planet has strength due to state/placement like exalted, own house or being lord of kendra/trikona etc, we consider it to be benefic.
But I've read that planetary effects contrast between where a planet is and where it aspects (specially opposite aspect). Meaning a planet benefiting the house of placement would aspect malefically to the opposite house and vice versa.
This is also propounded by finding that a planet's exaltation and debilitation signs are always opposite to each other.

Kindly share your thoughts on this.

Dear Shrikantji,

Thank you so much for your post. Your simile has cleared up practically all my basic confusion. :)

Now, I would enquire about graha drishti. You have said:

"Aspect of Saturn, Mars and Rahu reflect their innate qualities of inflicting Sorrow, pain suffering (Saturn), anger, frustration, conflicts (Mars), Shock and cheating, fraud (Rahu)"

My question:
My nephew, who has just landed on earth few months back, has libra lagna and shani, the yogakaraka planet, is situated in Leo. In that case, Shani would be aspecting the lagna (3rd aspect), Kumbh (7th aspect) and Vrish (10th aspect). What will be the nature of drishti in this case when, Shani is a yogakaraka planet?
Or say, anyone who has Karaka lagna will have Mangal as yogakaraka. and say for anybody with Kanya lagna, then mangal becomes a first rate malefic. In these two cases will the quality of Mangal's dhristi vary? or would it be the same?

my best regards,
Lalan

Shrikanth ji,
check the relationship between Mars and Jupiter (as the karaka for 5th)
To help me understand the effects, can you please elaborate the effects in the following different contexts

1. Ma a great friend of Ju (placed in 2/12, 3/11, or 4/10)
2. Ma a neutral to Ju
3. Ma and Ju in each other's signs
4. Ma and Ju in quadrants or trines to each other
5. Ma aspecting Ju
6. Ju aspecting Ma
7. Mutual aspects (7th house)
8. In each other's nakshatra

Also how the above will differ in a chart where Ma is a functional benefic and where he is functional malefic.

Dear Shrikantji,

Thanks a lot for your wonderful reply. It's becoming gradually clearer for me.

I am trying to analyse my brother-in-law's horoscope. He is singer. But is yet to
make it big.

He has:
Simha lagna
Moon in Dhanu
Ketu in Vrischik
Shukra in Kumbh
Budh, Shani in Meen
Mangal in Mesh
Rahu in Vrisha
Jupiter in Mithun

Now, the problem that is happening to him for a long time, is the fact that, somehow or the other
he can't clinch the big deals. For example, when ABCL (Amitabh Bachhan Corp Limited) did a singing
talent hunt a decade back, he got selected from Eastern Zone, but suddenly Amitabh Bachchan fell.
ABCL dwindled. Automatically, his prospects were shattered along with it. For quite sometime he has been
trying to find a good place for him in the regional market. But every time, something or the other is
coming up which stopping him from reaching a good place. Very peculiar things would happen like, an
important programme where he was supposed to sing with other star singers got canceled at the last moment
because the organizers didn't pay money to the police. This is one of the many such events that happened.
It seems that some unseen force is deliberately trying to play spoilsport. Is it because of Shani's dhristi from the
8th house? It would be great, if you let me know this whenever you have some time spare.

Respected Shrikantji:

"Rahu has special aspects of 2nd, 5th and 9th apart from the 7th house aspect." This is a great information...I was thinking that Rahu only aspects 7th house from where it is standing and moreover Rahu aspecting four houses in ones chart might even make the case worse for a native unless there is a strong benefic influence like Jupiter especially if Rahu is aspecting these houses from an enemy house or from a bad placement house.

Anyways thanks Shrikantji for giving great information.

Dear Shrikantji,

Thanks a tonne for your analysis. :D

YES, you are absolutely correct. He has trained himself in semi-classical.
He wants to make his name in Modern Bengali Songs. He follows Manna Dey.
Also, Bengali Folk songs sound very nice in his voice.

He does nothing apart from singing. Generally from October—March he has
lots of functions in districts [in fact that's the time when generally most
of the singers earn money]. Otherwise, rest of the year, he gives music tuition.
He did his B.Muse from Bengal Music College.

"Is he educated as an Engineer?"—this is most incredible. He has a strange knack
for electrical equipment. He can fix electrical things very naturally. We, in jest,
at times call him "Electronic Engineer". :P

Thanks a lot Shrikantji. It would be really great if he gets the break which he
definitely deserves and which has been denied to him till date.

If you can, any time, later on, please let me know about his Saturn. In the eighth
house, is it hindering his growth aspecting his 10th house? I am very inquisitive about
it, primarily because I have seen, in his case, kaam ho ke bhi nahi hota. Two months
back, a TV channel approached him for a 30 min TV show. He agreed. Then suddenly
they called up and apologized for the fact that the programme wouldn't happen.

Now I wonder, why did the TV channel at all come? To unsettle him by making him
hopeful? If it hadn't come—things would've been perfectly fine—no hope, no pain.

This pattern has been repeating itself very frequently in his life. If, possible, please
let me know the reason. That'll be an eye-opener for me.

with best regards as ever
