Hi Learned Members

Most seasoned astrologers would agree that Venus and Jupiter are best placed in the 1st house.

Nikhil recently has a blog that come out in support of the above dictum. He added that Venus and Jupiter being guru planets, Venus for worldly knowledge

(yes, mathematics, science, arts etc. all come under Venus - which is why I say if you need a doctorate degree in these subjects you need Venus - 7th is the house of the doctarate degree, 12th house which is 6th from the 7th shows you manage to come up with a dissertation that change one of the most fundamental paradigms of your field of study)

and Jupiter for divine knowledge, both of which you need self-awareness and contemplation to get a better understanding and hence further use of the knowledge that you obtain.

He mentioned that Jupiter's divine knowledge covers things like wrapping up even the subjects that come under Venus, like technology, philosophy, science, crafts etc., when divine knowledge is called for; that is why in this world you have an expert in a particular field, and yet you have one who is SIMPLY DIVINE in that field.

Now the thing is, this is my take on this thread.

Venus in 1st is OK because 1st is the Ascendant of D-1, representing the mundane affairs of the world. But for Jupiter dealing with Vedas, Astrology, Occult etc. it is better that it sits on the 8th or 12th as far as tapping onto divine knowledge is concerned, with its 9th house rulership thrown in if possible.

But if Jupiter is in the 8th or 12th, then Jupiter would not be casting an aspect on the 1st, so self-awareness, rumination and mediation on the knowledge gained would be rather difficult.

The trick is is to get a planet that is dispositing Jupiter's nakshatra placement and this particular planet should be sitting on the 1st. Then Jupiter's divine knowledge would be tapped in full force.

I have Venus in the 1st.

Rahu is in the 1st too and Rahu is in Scorpio Navamsa, the occult sign.

Rahu disposits Jupiter's nakshatra placement in Stabbatashek.

For a bonus, Rahu disposits Sun's nakshatra placement in Ardra. Sun gives kingship in the knowledge that I obtain.

Best Regards
Khoo

Best is such a subjective word. Wouldn't jupiter in the first house bring a tendency for weight gain? Not necessarily the best according to many people. Its so subjective that there is no best placement. An athelete may consider mars in lagna to be the best, who's to say what's really the best.

By 'Best' he means his own 'Masters of the Universe' chart. So yes its subjective but for the thread reader only.

Hi Khoo,

Does the aspect of the Ju and Ve Nakshatra Lords on ASC count.

Also, I went through the Tara concept you were talking about on the other post. Still can't relate that to the Pai paddathi. If you could give short insight on that, it would be very helpful.

Yes in a way you are right.

But I think what Nikhil is trying to do is to see which placement of the planet (the bhava) ties most closely to the signification of the planet which epitomises the greatest good of the planet for mankind in general.

Like Mars in 1st gives agility and atheletic prowess. But to tap on Mars logic is better because with logic everything can be accomplished more successfully through analysing the lock-step process in reaching the goal. And where is Mars logic externalise the most? Through its speech which is the 2nd house.

Also one thinks through logicaly before one utters anything or speaking to oneself inwardly to consider doing anything when Mars is in the 2nd, this would mean the person applies logic to everything he does including training for atheletics.

These are too simplistic generalizations which are best avoided. Venus, Jupiter, Mercury or for that matter even Saturn or Mars are good in the ascendant as long as they are not adverse for that particular ascendant.

As someone has already pointed out, Jupiter in the ascendant can lead to obesity or in case of Libra ascendant even worse like liver malfunction or such.

I have exalted Venus in the Ascendant. Venus is the 8th Lord. I can’t tell enough on the misery inflicted on me during the Bhukti’s of Venus. Thankfully, The Venus Dasa will never occur while I’m alive.

The only merit of having this placement…I have a very fair complexion with good looks, if these are considered value additions. Well, I don't.

There is a big difference in the effects between Venus on its own in the 1st house and Venus with another planet in the 1st house. If Rahu is in the 1st house the person would give too much importance to themselves and less importance to others (as Ketu would be in 7th house). In other words, the person would be quite self-centered.

Yes rita ji even venus moon in asc can give different results, like venus and moon in leo can make the person self-centered, whereas Aquarius it is entirely different.
Even Jupiter in ascendent I've seen a guy with exalted jupiter at 2 degrees , vargottama in cancer asc who is fat in constitution.

Yes, Rahu in the Ascendant is self-centered....yes, it is true. But in my case it is mediated by the Moon, the Ascendant Lord in the 7th (thinking for others) aspecting the Ascendant (thinking for oneself), creating a win-win situation. Saturn in the 7th in own sign dispositing Moon would see that justice is enforced to make sure that such a situation would always arise.

Jupiter in the Ascendant makes a person fat.....yes, it is true. In facf any Jupiterian effect on the Ascendant makes the person somewhat obese. With Venus there as well, it can make the person lethargic too. Rahu adds to laziness. But all these planets and their effects are mitigated by Mars aspect which makes the person logical and energetic.

Venus in the Ascendant, from one of your responses, makes the person full of misery during its dasa. Venus ALONE and also within the ambit of the Sun ie. less than 30 degrees from the Sun whether same sign with Sun or not, can cause misery. Venus with Moon effects (unless Venus in Cancer) also does not cause much positivity either.

But all the above factors can be overcomed if more of the following factors subsist :

(1) Venus and Jupiter BOTH are in Ascendant.

(2) A Yoga is involved whether Venus with Jupiter eg. for Gemini Ascendant, Venus alone eg. Capricorn Ascendant, Jupiter alone eg. Pisces Ascndant where Jupiter is the Ascendant Lord, either planet with the nodes whether Rahu or Ketu which means either Venus ro Jupiter must be a kendra or trinal lord. This is the usual Parasara Yoga involving kendra and trinal lords.

(3) Any other special Yoga involving either Venus or Jupiter or both these planets in the Ascendant.

(4) A yogakaraka aspecting either of them especially if either one of them is a 11th lord, but still not totally necessary.

(5) Venus should be more than 30 degrees away from the Sun and yet placed 2nd from the Sun.

(6) Jupiter, pure, not aspected, found in the Ascendant.

(7) Any other special conisderations you can think of, like either planets in Yogi point, either planets in their own Navamsa, either planets in own Nakshatras. In Emperor Vikram, he had a Pisces Ascendant with Venus and Jupiter there, meaning Jupiter is in its own sign and Venus is exalted. This makes him of a more compassionate nature.

So above there are NEGAITVE and POSITIVE factors which can add or detract to the fact that Venus and/or Jupiter being in the Ascendant.

But the factors above do not really detract from the fact that Venus and Jupiter in the Ascendant, does make the person more knowledgeable through rumination and meditation. Which is actually good for the guru planets. That is why they are given best placements here. Even if it is Venus with Rahu, with none of the above positive mitigating factors, but Rahu disposits Jupiter placing in the 8th for example, the knowledge is still there. And knowledge is equated with the Guru status of each planet.

Venus when it's badhak is pretty negative in ascendant according to some classics. Like Pulippani Jothidam where the sage says it's pretty much the worst for cancer ascendant unless it's in the 5 or 9th(especially 9th).

But yes "best" is subjective. Rahu in ascendant often makes the person full of themselves, and very "me me me, nothing wrong with me!" oriented. I have 2 close friends with this, not to mention Khoo who has it and always seems to just post about his own chart and how 'flawless' it is. Talk about rahu illusions...

My 2 cents. I certainly dont have an in depth knoweldge of Vedic astrology. But in my limted experience,
I have a case of a lady (relative) who has exalted Venus and Jupiter in Meena in 1st house both in revati (4 degrees apart). She has suffered a lot in her life despite supposedly having Malavya and Hamsa yogas. She went thru Jupiter maha Dasa from 8 to 24 years of age. But that did not help much. She was born into a good family but suffered a lot due to a lot of delay in marriage and subsequent unhappiness in marriage (to a person who is much lower in social status) and subsequent serious issues related to progeny. Her mercury is very well placed in 11th house and her 7th house is clean. So Jupiter and venus played a significant role in her marriage and its results.

I see that this combination of Jupiter and Venus delays marriage or makes person suffer on marital front. I have it in my horoscope in 6th house I am 40 and single and suffered whenever Jupiter came into my life. Sometimes even with Venus.

My mother has a close conjunction of Ju Ve in 3rd house. She was never happy in her married life and to this day she suffers due to my dad (sad to admit)

Narendra Modi has Jupiter Venus mutual aspect in 6th and 11th. Venus with Saturn in 11th. We know how his married life ended.

Anderson cooper has Venus Jupiter in 11th with exalted Jupiter. We know that he is openly gay, 49 and still unmarried (though not single).

So the so called dwiguru yoga is overrated. It is bad and needs to be taken with a lot of salt in my opinion.

These two planets are the worst enemies to each other. When Jupiter is a beneficial planet in a horoscope then Venus has to be a first rate malefic as per the ascendant and vice versa. So both cant be beneficial together. So how can their conjunction produce anything good? I think even mutual aspects does not do much good to the native.

Mercurialman,

Would like to see the chart of the person you mentioned.
Reason to ask: Its rarely as simple as some planet(s) sitting somewhere, however nice or bad it may look. These planets get involved in some ruinous yogas and pass on the result. The OP doesn't realize that and hence starts frivolous threads here.

At mercurialman ji,

If that's the case, I have Ve-sa conjunction and retro super duper Malefic Jup in 7th from this.

To make things worse, I have ketu aspect my d1 7th house and ketu itself in my d9 7th house.

I am 27 and I can see myself being forever alone. No doubt about that.

Details if you want to check your self

Hi,

How does Ju-Ve conjunction in 4th house give results for kanya lagna? Jupiter is in its own sign (saggitarius)

Thanks Mercurial Man.

The Yog for the lady: When Jupiter as the Lagna or the 8th Lord is stronger than the 9th lord while the 11th lord is combust and not in a Kendra then one of the formations of a daridra yog is formed.

Result: The person is unlucky, reproved by the family, has a bad spouse etc.
Essentially creating a painful experience.

Note: other yogas are formed too in the chart but the above is just to illustrate that one should not take a planet at its face value. The same planet can get involved in an excellent or bad yogas.

Her marriage is nothing less than 5 superlatives put together. She is married to an amazing guy and is having a blast! Lets not worry about her spouse/THE GUY. Her married life is what counts from her chart isn't it

True, I have tendency to put on weight very fast.
But I go on crash diets.
No, not coincidently but invariably in Venus periods, I get motivated - very strong motivation infact, to go on diet,
This has happened so many times in my life!
So what happens is that half the year, I am loosing weight and half the year I am gaining weight!
Right now, I am at 71 kilos = so I have to lose weight and waiting for any Venus period to set in!!

Jupiter exalted in cancer in first house. I ran through my jupiter mahadasha with a bad weight problem, from my experience, 1st house jupiter makes you a.... nice guy. You experience the sacrifice, you burden the pain, no one really hates you, but you get taken advantage of easily. Since guru is always positive and looks for the best in everyone (which is actually not very good in this day and age), you seem to always get the short end of the stick. In regards to wealth and luck, I earn just enough to survive on (maybe due to saturn/ rahu in 2nd house?) Luck wise, no major accidents or sicknesses so far, I am grateful for this. But all in all, 1st house jupiter from my perspective just gives you a very, sometimes overly optimistic outlook on life, nothing more. Unbiased is also a trait I would link 1st house jupiter to
