RETROGRADE AND COMBUST MERCURY

I have read in a few places that retrograde mercury and direct venus can never get combusted, no matter how close they are conjunct with the sun. For example, even if a retrograde mercury is placed as close as 4 degrees to the sun, it still does not get combusted, in fact,rather than getting destroyed, the effects of such mercury become even more powerful....firstly because it is retrograde and secondly because it is extremely close to the sun....same with direct venus. Is this concept correct?

As per KP Ayanamsa,mine mercury(16 deg)is retrograde and combust as well with zero degree sun in 2H with cancer lagna,please guide i dont see signs being genius in my self as not done master and beyond and not in such profession also.

I have retro and combust mercury. Added to it, one should also have luck, then only the real happiness will be there. What is the use if I say, I know everything and others don't say. It should be other way round.
I generally see when knowledgeable people get more recognition, they say to others they know nothing. It is actually due to arrogance, since they know others will praise them even more.

With inferiors, retro brings them between sun and earth (no occultation, iow). Combustion may represent an over-applied/amplified factor...!

The two inferior planets inside the Earth's orbit, Mercury and Venus, are combust when in, or near, inferior or superior conjunction; that is, when they are closest and furthest from the Earth respectively. When Mercury or Venus are combust at superior conjunction, they are actually behind the Sun, actually setting. Not only are they obscured by the rays of the Sun, they are also behind the body of the Sun.

When they combust at inferior conjunction (when they are between the Sun and the Earth) they are not actually setting; though they are obscured by the light of the Sun they are not actually hidden by the body of the Sun. In my opinion therefore, when Mercury or Venus being combust when retrogade is not so severe since they are not actually setting behind the Sun.

In fact when Mercury or Venus is retrogade and combust, their qualities become very pronounced. On the other hand when Mercury or Venus is combust but not retrogade, their qualities become hidden and weak. Thus when Mercury or Venus is retrogade and combust, their Shakta Avastha must be more closely looked into to see the strength using one of the components of Shad Bala (forgot the name of that component).

Hello All - I too have Mercury deeply combust and retrograde and I believe it has a very high ishtha bala. Although, I m not very sure about it being in Rashi Sandhi but baring a few astrologer most have said that Mercury is very strong in my chart. The best thing that happened to me professionally was in SA/ME period in 2013-2014.

even i have a retrograde and combust mercury and because it is also my lagan lord. i think i have had a lot of health issues due to this. my mercury is placed in 11H with sun in aries.

Retrogade planets are strong but the organs reprsented by the planet are not functioning in their normal mode and thus there are health issues.

However, if the planet is retrogading towards the 6th, health issues would never be a problem to the native.
