Atma Karaka is the planet that has the highest longitude in one's natal Chart. Atma Karaka in Navamsa is called the "Karakamsa". The 12th from the Karakamsa determines the "Istha Devata". The 12th house from the karakamsa is called the "Jivanmuktamsa". This is the house signifying the emancipation of the soul and we have to examine this house in order to find one's Ishta Devata.

Moon-- Krishna/Shiva/Parvati
Mars-- Hanuman/Subramanya/Sri Narasimha
Mer-- Vishnu
Jup-- Vishnu/Sri Vamana/Dattatreya/Sai Baba

Sat-- Shani Dev/Hanuman/Kurma/Shiva/Vishnu

If there are more grahas than one, we choose the strongest.
If there is no graha in the Jivanmuktamsa, we can see whether any Grahas are aspecting the 12th.
If no Grahas aspect it, we can take the 12th Lord as Ishta Devata.

No planet present in Virgo, neither any planet aspect it by Parashari aspect.
Hence lord of Virgo Mer will determine ur Ishta devta which is Lord Vishnu.

I am taking medication and have changed life style .
A learned member of this forum (lex) claims that I would have to be on BP medication for life ! Do you also believe that !
Many freely computer generated varshik phal point that muntha (lagna lord) will be in 8th house of my horoscope from october 2016-2017 that would be dangerous period.

While we are at can you explain me why Jupiter was picked ahead of Saturn?
Elaborating:
1. Sun with highest shadbala in lagna is my Atmakaraka.
2. Sun is place in third house in my Navamsha which is owned by Gemini. So, Gemini becomes my Karakamsha.
3. 12th house from this is owned by Taurus. So, Taurus becomes my Jivanmuktamsha.
4. No planets are present in Taurus.
5. Saturn has 7th aspect and Jupiter has 9th aspect on Taurus in Navamsha.
6. In shadbala Saturn is stronger than Jupiter.

Till now, I was in the understanding that all these signs like Jivanmuktamsa, sixth from Amatyakaraka(for palana devata) etc are to be seen from the respective placements in the Navamsa.
But in the above response to "starsearcher", I think you considered the graha placed in the Jivanmuktamsa (as seen from rashi chart) for ishtadevata. Pls advice.

If Karakamsha Lagna is AK's navamsha sign in rashi chart - and Swamsa is AK's position in navamsha - then, shouldn't Ishta Devata be determined from 12th from the karakamsha (in rashi chart)?
Either way, I think D-20 is a better chart for delineating specific deities.
Isnt the karakamsa lagna put back into the D1 and then we analyse the Ishta devata. And also using the AK in D20 chart for the same instead of D9. As D9 will mislead yo many times concerning this.

Earlier in this post I've written the rules for finding Ishta Devta. I'm repeating the same here:

Your KL is Gemini and Since there is no planet in 12H from KL Gemini i.e. Taurus sign is vacant, we see which planet(s) aspect it. In your chart, only Jup aspect Taurus, hence I chose Jup.
