Events happen not because of a single factor, but due to multiple negatives
occuring at the same time. The seed for the present break was sown on
22 nd july of last year, when you engaed. Actual time of engagement will
clearly show the outcome of the event. It has to,since basic principles
of jothish never fails. After all, engagement too will have to be treated
as a muhurtha.
Mercury antar dasa will have to be viewed seriously since mercury is lord
of 8th. Mercury is dara karaka.
Was some sort of matching of charts looked into before engagement ?

I did not mention the term conjunction. The placement of malefics in 3rd is concern for the chart.

Well said. In olden days, people had the habit of just noting down the nakshatra where moon was placed.
For every asppect of life , they just depended on the quality of the star in general terms, Very few gave
importance to the kundali.
As technology grew, people started noting down in papers, note books etc. With the advent of computers,
charting became the simplest job and many people started studying jothisha.
But even after all these, people continue to stick to guna milan , without understanding the fact that
each chart is that of an individual and people cannot be seen as just one among the 27 stars.
People should realise, that each chart should be viewed and weight first, then strong links for partenerships
and then only moon for a " Go-together ". Unfortunately, the "points" continue to dominate.
The role of astrologers should be in this direction to " educate " people on this important matter.
