Hi Learned Members

For each House A, the 9th House to it and House A is a major factor in determining the goodness of House A.

Just like Lagna and the 9th house are the important indicators of the overall goodness of a chart. Their ruler placements say much about which direction in life the person is heading.

Three conditions come to mind.

1st Condition
----------------

When House A has planets and 9th to it also has planets.

In this case, see whether the planets on each end of the pole (meaning the each conjunction occurring in each of the bhavas) whether the planets are friendly to each other. Then see whether the two poles can mesh well ie. one group of planets with the other group of planets.

2nd Condition
----------------

When House A and 9th to it are both empty.

In this case look at the rulers and see whether they are in trines (best), kendras (strength), 3rd/11th (gains), 2nd/12th (support and loss), 6th/8th (adversity), 1st/7th (mutual interest). Some caveats are in order.

If Venus is involved, the 1st/7th is the most important.

If Mercury and Venus are involved, any relationship is fine. Venus in many ways is just a higher octave of Mercury.

3rd condition
---------------

When one of House A or 9th to it has planets. The other house is empty.

See the ruler of the empty house relationship with the 1 or more planets situated in the other house. Are they in trines or squares to each other or what?

Also make sure the ruler is not afflicted by combustion, planetary war, sandhi etc. Same with the group of planets found in the other bhava. THE REASON WHY THIS FACTOR IS IMPORTANT FOR THE 3RD CONDITION IS THAT NOW THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN HOUSE A AND THE 9TH TO IT IS ASYMMETRICAL.........WE ARE USING THE RULER FOR THE EMPTY HOUSE AND THE STELLIUM OF (OR ONE) PLANETS PLACED IN THE OTHER HOUSE........ANY RELATIONSHIP WHICH IS ASYMMETRICAL MEANS ANY EXTRANEOUS FACTORS LIKE COMBUSTION, PLANETARY WAR ETC. CAN EASILY DISTURB THE RELATIONSHIP AND PUT IT IN DISARRAY. This is just like when the husband and wife is such that one dominates the other, at the slightest crack the relationship would be blown to bits.

Khoo, you mean when the first house ruler and its 9th house ruler happens to be venus and mercury, you need not worry about any kind of relationship between these two planets?

Yes, Mercury and Venus gets on very well. Firstly we are considering here the signs ruled by them which have a trinal relationship with each other. That is a given for all the pairs of planets we are considering in this thread.

Secondly both Mercury and Venus are friends. This is also a given for almost all the pairs of planets considered in this thread except say Mercury and Saturn where Saturn is neutral to Mercury and Moon and Jupiter where Jupiter is neutral to Moon.

Thirdly Mercury and Venus are rajastic planets. They think alike.

Fourthly Mercury is predominantly earthy and venus is predominantly watery. About the only element that goes well with earth is water - both ways in fact.

Fifthly, in terms of sign positioning, Libra the moolatrikona sign of Venus comes after Virgo which is the moolatrikona sign of Mercury. This shows Venus is best friend of Mercury although Mercury is best friend to Sun. But Venus is also friends with Mercury ising Parasara's definition, unlike say Jupiter and Saturn, and Venus is also Mercury's guru (imagine having a guru as your best friend), all this really strengthen the bond between Mercury and Venus.

Sixthly Mercury and Venus can only be in 1st/1st, 2nd/12th and 3rd/11th relationships. All these relationships are good even the 2nd/12th because of the best friend concept.

Seventhly based on Pancami relationship as defined by Saravanth Chintamani and further expounded by one of Sanjay Rath's discoples (forgot his name), Mercury works for Venus objectives (there is a Sanskrit term for this) and Venus assist Mercury without cognizant of Venus objectives (again there is a Sanskrit term for this).

To be continued ....

To continue......

Lastly karakas of bhavat bhavam (related) houses feed on each other in terms of energy and focusing in the direction of life.

Venus is the karaka of the 7th which is 10th of the 10th. Mercury is the karaka of the 10th. So Venus spirals Mercury professional drive for success upwards and upwards and upwards........

Saptarishis Magazine has recently unearthed new classics which they interpreted for the benefit of the public. Venus position in D10 must be strong otherwise the person would not do well in his career. So this is in addition to the requirement that Saturn (karaka for progress in career or even a career to talk of) and Mercury (the main karaka for the 10th which signifies professional drive to success) and Sun (the backup karaka for the 10th which signifies status in society related to career) must do well in the D-10.

Hence this again shows the strong relationship between Mercury and Venus for career and world related matters. This is another way of looking at them being Rajastic planets.

This chart belongs to Barbara Pijan Lama, a well known astrologer. Let me know what you have to say about her chart.

Okay, let me take a look. Give me some time.

However, at first blush :

I did say her webpages do have some good points. One that comes to mind is the one on Dwadarsamsa (D-12) partitions on the Rasi Chart (the non-planetary lords) which I wrote about for deeper analysis in a much earlier post.

Her writings on Jyotish also tend to tie in with her spiritual thoughts which can be quite illuminating.

Anuradha

Mercury and Venus conjuncts at three junctures :

At the point when Venus is the evening star, when the conjunction takes place, Mercury is aiding Venus in her journey within the realms of the Sun where she disappears. Like sending her off. Buddhi in this case embraces materiality and transforms it before the materiality of the person is made part of the spiritual aspect of the person. Venus as the evening star denotes a more spiritual person.

At the point when Venus is the morning star, when the conjunction takes place, Venus has just awaken from the realms from the Sun, and is passing some knowledge to Mercury to increase his intelligence. Mercury is also standing by to greet his guru ie. Venus. Buddhi gains knowledge of how to gain materiality in this world from the individual's deeper recesses through some secret knowledge ferreted out. Venus as the morning star denotes a more materialistic person.

At the point when Venus conjuncts Mercury when Venus has already disappeared from the sky, Mercury is helping Venus to find her way about within the realms of the Sun. Such a combination shows a person who is spiritually aware in all his steps towards spiritual progression. He never slips up.

When Mercury and Venus are not conjunct, either being on opposite ends of the Sun or not within orb, the above effects take on less significance.

Venus and Mercury mutually support each other to a high degree in more ways than one.

Elipsis :

Okay I have just said it in my reply to Anuradha. Mercury +Venus when close to the Sun makes for a very spiritual person. Barbara Pijan is a very spiritual person. Every step along the way, she never slips up in her spiritual progression. She has both Mercury and Venus together with the Sun in the same Bhava.

Also the Sun+Mercury+Venus combination occurs in the 10th Bhava which is her karma lot in life.

Moon+Saturn which is UNASPECTED by any other planets and occurring in the 8th house of spirituality makes an aspect to the Sun+Mercury+Venus combination intensifying her spirituality.

Saturn aspects Jupiter (we will ignore Jupiter aspecting from the previous position) showing that although she can gain spirituality easily via the 5th house (mantras, initiation with guru etc.), she prefers to to do from a deeper level first (8th house). 5th house is just something that comes with her journey towards the attainment of the 8th house goals. Nevertheless her 5th house is strong because Jupiter is retrogade and Jupiter is in Pisces in kona with Mercury and Venis in kendra shows her strong Saraswati Yoga and made stronger by Jupiter conjuncting with Rahu in a congenial sign, shows that she helps her clients attain spirituality through 5th house means.

Mars unaspected and not aspecting any other planet sits in the 12th house shows anger is never part and parcel of her life. This clears any obstruction of her goal towards the highest spiritual attainment as far as looking from the Mars perspective is concerned.

In general the Moon+Saturn in the 8th is better for the spiritual aspects of Jyotish rather than for sudden insights. Other areas of her chart also shows her great spirituality.

Let's see my chart's Mercury and Venus.

Venus is a morning star in my chart and ahead of the Sun by more than 30 degrees. Materiality is my quest as far as looking at Venus position with respect to the Sun is concerned.

But Mercury is not with Venus (the conjunction). So how is Venus going to pass out her secret knowledge of how to make money to Mercury?

Well Mercury is 11th to Venus meaning the final outcome of Venus knowledge is shown by Mercury position in the 11th house. But more importantly Mercury is in Venus sign, so Venus is telling her secret knowledge to Mercury by dispositing him. Mercury in this case to get in touch with Venus needs to scrutinize his environment (represented by the Rasi Sign Taurus in my case) deeper. Taurus is the sign of movable articles.........feng shui items may help.

Thank you Khoo, for sharing your knowledge with us.Your posts are extremely resourceful to the readers when you share it in general statements and I find it difficult to follow when you explain it w.r.to your chart because we readers are not aware of all the planetery placements and its details in your chart.
Atleast you can kind of write the astrological inputs generaly first then follow it with your chart connections and how you relate those with your chart. This is just my request.

Birth details

22nd June 1962
Singapore 1 degree 16 minutes north
103 degrees 51 minutes east

Use 9:02 am GMT +8.0 if your software uses a fixed GMT throughout the years (implicit if you do not need to input the GMT) otherwise use GMT +7.5 (implicit if you do not need to input the GMT) and time 8.32 am. Like in the astro com website, the software is able to know that Singapore moved ahead half an hour in time starting 1st January 1983 so you use the time 8.32 am. I think the software at that site no need to input the GMT, but if it does need, you need to input GMT +7.5.

Sir
I am a beginner, but this interesting combination discussed here compelled me to share my chart which is having following combinations.
DOB - 03.05.1971 / TOB - 1848 Hrs / POB - Agra - 27-11 N / 78-01 E

Lagna Libra - Lord Venus exalted
9th Lord - Mercury Deblitated
Both in 6th House

So all conditions are fulfilled along with one more that Mercury is my Atmakaraka also hence, two opposite planets of my 'SELF' representation lagna lord & Atmakaraka are with each other.

I am not able to understand this at all.
