Effect of Transit on Gemstone wearing

My close relative been told to wear emerald and he wanted to know the right time for wearing the same.
As per the texts it shall be Shuklapaksha wednesday when emerald can be worn.
was wondering whether there is any impact of transit of planet on wearing of gem.
As nowadays, Mercury is retrograde and shuklpaksh is going on.
So whether to recommend now to wear the emerald or wait till mercury turns direct. i.e, Feb11
