Dear all,

What are the planetary combinations in a horoscope which ensures litigation/courtroom affairs at some point in a native's life (might be either criminal or civic matters)?

How to predict whether the native will win or lose his case? What type of natives should strictly remain away from litigation affairs and should resolve matters outside the court? And who can safely go for courtroom affairs and can win his case with flying colors?
Request some insight in this matter.

What planetary positions at 6th, 2nd, 11th & 12th and what qualities in Mars & Venus lead to courtroom affairs?
And what planetary positions enable us to predict whether a native will win or lose his case?

What if both the contesting parties have equally strong 6H, 12H & 12L?

Below are just some points. But bear in mind it all boils down to doing the right thing. Astrology is an occult science. Just when you think you have covered all the points in the chart, if your motivations are not proper, you would have missed out certain points in the chart. That is why in Nadi Astrology, the Hora Chart is given more importance than the natal chart. The Hora Chart changes always depending on the situation at the moment. God's grace is what is needed to be kept in the proper path and right conduct and like I mentioned in the earlier post, Jupiter transit in the Hora Chart is of utmost importance to swing the events to the individual's favour ie. right conduct and proper behaviour.

Now for some glimpses (only) in the natal chart :

Venus is weak in the 6th but strong in the 12th. So Venus and 12th usually do not usually lead to courtroom affairs.

Venus or Mars in 11th give abundant gains, notwithstanding courtroom affairs. But when they are in their own signs in the 11th as well, it give even more gains. Cases can be won easily or even avoided.

In Nadi Astrology, a combination of Venus+Mars although signify close relations like husband and wife or a close mate, leads to quarrels and hence to courtroom affairs.

Lal-Katib says the malefic effects of the 6th is enhanced by a strong 2nd house. 2nd is 9th to the 6th so it promotes affairs of the 6th. But this was specially mentioned by Lal Katib, so a combination of 6th and 2nd is a strong indicator of courtoom affiars.

7th is the house of arbitration. All the litigation indicator houses if it involves the 7th usuall leads to amicable settlements. It is like bringing matters to the open. 7th is 2nd to the 6th so a strong 7th with benefic planets can kill all litigations. (This cannot be said of the 12th which is 2nd to the 11th because 11th is 6th of the 6th where maleficence is already too great to be killed. Having said that because 2 negatives become position (bhavat bhavam) the 11th usually needs some heaving before things get out of hand like a Bhadakesh and the lord is not placed within the house).

Combination of 6th and 8th can worsen matters. 2nd, 6th and 8th together according to Lal Katib is one of the worst scenarios for things getting out of hand. 8th alone because it is 3rd to the 6th, if 6th is weak, it remains inert. 8th being 10th to the 11th and 9th to the 12th (the karma of 11th and dharma of 9th), it is not activated by 11th and 12th.

10th is fame and success and the future (5th) of the 6th. Jaya Yoga is obtained if the 6th lord goes to the 10th and 10th is strong. In Bhava Chalit Chakra, it is possible even that the 6th lord may end up being placed in its own sign in the 10th.

A strong 4th-10th axis through mutual exchange, mutual aspects etc as well as a strong 5th-9th trine through the same means, usually prevent courtroom affairs.

Hi Khoo hock long,

As you said combination of 6th and 8th can worsen and lead to courtroom affairs. In my wife's chart she has exchange of 6th and 8th lord. And as per astrology it is called vipreet rajyoga. So do you think it could lead courtroom affairs? She has 6th lord venus and 8th lord is jupiter and Tauras asc.

Yes, if you disregard the principle of using Hora Chart in Nadi Astrology, then we have to fall back on the natal chart in Classical Astrology (or Nadi Astrology).

I guess your question about your wife is about the general trend of things couple with the dasa periods to bring an issue to the fore and not that she is about to enter into a litigation. The latter is best answered witha Hora Chart in Nadi Astrology.

Yes, it is true. Exchange of planets between 6th and 8th worsen a situation BUT it is a vipareet yoga so it is good. Also here benefical planets are involved (notwithstanding Venus) and Venus goes to the 8th which according to classical texts is supposed to be VERY GOOD. All round king (or queen for your wife) so to speak. Jupiter always bring out the benign aspect of Venus and not the combative side (unlike Mars even though BOTH Mars and Jupiter are friends to Venus although Venus is enemy to Jupiter in Nadi).

What I learn about Dusthanas is this after all this time that I am initiated into astrology :

(1) Planet placed in a Dusthana (whatever house it rules) is worse than a planet ruling a dusthana and placed in a non-dusthana. This is because where the planet is placed is where the planet uses the resources it has to take action. Planets in Dusthanas have to struggle with meagre resources.

8th gives challengs, 6th obstacles and 12th nebulousness which prolongs a problem.

If you do not believe what I say about this principle, check it out on some charts.

(2) 8th is mitigated if 9th has many good placements. 9th is 2nd to the 8th and can determine the agenda and outcome of the 8th. As per Nadi Astrology, the 9th house aspects the 8th house with 90% strength.

12th is also mitigated if 1st has many good placements for the same reason.

6th being 9th of the 10th and 10th of the 9th and also being an Earth House ruling constructive works, is basically not that evil UNLESS the planets there are very badly placed. Then the person goes to nitpicking on others (12th to 7th) rather than nitpicking on work which results in litigation.

Many planets well placed in the 7th helps to settle affairs of the 6th amicably although it may not have a dharmic basis (7th is not a dharmic house but a kama house.......

To be continued.............

(3) Another way how the Dusthana effects can be counteracted is where there is vipareet raja yoga.....these are of three kinds :

(a) Planets placed in their own signs in Dusthana. The person knows exactly how to control the final outcome of that house amidst the difficulties he faces.

(b) Planets exchanged between Dusthanas. This means after a while in a person's life, he is able to counteract double difficulties (2 Dusthanas) to his own mighty advantage (two planets placed in their own signs in Dusthanas after the exchange).

(c) A planet ruling a Dusthana going into a Dusthana. This is the weakest of the three in terms of goodness since as I said a planet placed in a Dusthana is weak regardless of the kind of houses it rules.

In the above for (3) ie. all the three sub-categories of (a), (b) and (c), if natural benefics are involve it means non-draconic measures are used eg. non-litigational means to settle animosity. Natural malefics may result in draconic meansures. Venus can swing either way depending on the planets it associates especially Mars for draconic means and Jupiter for non-draconic means.

By the way an exchange between a planet in a non-Dusthana and a planet in a Dusthana, can be read off from categories (1) and (3) above.

Basically the planet that goes into the Dusthana gets demoted in status although still very good since it is placed in its own sign in the Dusthana after the exchange. The planet that goes into the non-Dusthana gets an upliftment in status - placing in a non-Dusthana is always better and now the planet is in its own sign on top of that.

Talking about good placements for the above, when nodes conjuncting a planet are involved, the considerations are :

(1) The planet should be friendly to the node, so Venus, Mercury and Saturn are friendly to Rahu AND Sun, Mars and Jupiter are friendly to Ketu. Moon is friendly to Ketu (gives religious mindedness) but not Ketu to Moon (gives aberrations and poor judgement although good for subjects like astrology) so Moon with Ketu is a mixed blessing

OR

(2) The planet placed in its own or exalted sign then it is irrelevant which node it is; it results in a good placement.

We already have three precepts above (1), (2) and (3).

Assuming the conditions for (1) and (3) does not exist. Also assume condition (2) is weak ie. the 2nd to the Dusthana house is not fortified with strong planets well placed to kill the Dusthana as discussed previously.

So here comes the 4th precept :

(4) Even if condition (2) is weak and conditions (1) and (3) does not obtain, then if the Dusthana lord goes into the house previous to it ie. 12th to it, the Dusthana is not going to do much harm.

A famous example would be the 12th lord going into the 11th house given by Nina. Then the person would SPEND AND EARN MONEY AT THE SAME TIME.

Now the thing is here we are talking about litigation and not about Dusthanas.

So 11th has to come into the picture.

11th being 11th to the Ascendant of Personality, is a house of wilfulness. People with lord of the 11th suitably placed either in its own sign in the 11th or satisfying the condition for strong activation of the 11th lord eg. 11th lord in 1st (3rd to 11th) which starts the initiation, 11th lord in 9th (11th to 11th) which expands the energy (people can be led by ethics blindly), 11th lord in 8th (10th to 11th) which means what starts out at wilfulness on the person becomes a situation that is out of control and lastly in 7th (9th to 11th) which gives good strong support to 11th house matters (sometimes arbitration can mean materials are gathered for a further battle in court).

The 11th house is the devil's advocate ie. its lord and planets placed therein. And the 11th house is gains and wins UNLESS very bad conditons obtain pertaining to this house. This is unlike the Dusthanas.

(Remember in past posts I said a House A is destroyed by the lords of the three houses that come before it. BUT 12th to House A destroys but making everything a zilch which is NOT THE SAME AS 11th to House A which takes over the personality of House A and 10th to House A which simply takes over the agenda of House A thereby both these lords actually compound the affairs of House A).

Before I answer that....let me add something else......

*********************************************************************************************************************************************

Don't get me wrong....Parasara in his BPHS credited the 11th lord as being virtuous. One can be wilful and yet can be virtuous.

The virtuosity of the 11th lord is because 11th is the 3rd to the 9th. 9th is ethics which is the foundation of all virtuous acts or virtuosity so to speak.

(The wilfulness of the 11th lord has already been alluded to earlier......it being the 11th to the Ascendant of balanced judgement........to take care of all the houses of the chart). Only by being persistent and obstinate in our demands, can we hope to attain any gains!!!!

Yes, my Mercury is in the 11th house. It is placed in its own sign in 4 of the important divisional charts.

But what stands out is this...............my Mercury has a Shadbala of 670 rupees (?)....is that how you call it?

Let's look at the whole issue from another angle on litigation.

Although the 10th, 11th and 12th houses can potentially destroy the Ascendant, still the Ascendant and its lord is like the gateway to the whole chart. The whole chart stands or falls on the basis of the Ascendant or its lord to a large degree, although some charts escape from having this general clause being applicable to them.

The other point to note is that the 6th house should be the MAIN HOUSE FOR LITIGATION. Why?

Ascendant is the 1st house we start with and with its expansion, we come to the 6th house BEFORE ALL HOUSES (even though the 3rd is an initiatory house for the Ascendant, still the FIRST full flowering effect after the Ascendant is the 6th house).

It is said that men always sizes other strangers before he lets his guard down, after he gets to know the person well.

11th is 6th of the 6th (the 2nd expansion in the cycle starting from the 1st) and 12th is the last house just before the Ascendant starts again, going the chart in a clockwise direction. So 11th and 12th cannot be the main litigation house.

So given the TWO POINTS above (one about the Ascendant and the other about the 6th), and the fact that the THREE HOUSES THAT COME BEFORE THE 6TH CAN POTENTIALLY DESTROY IT (this concept we talked about in the earlier part of this thread), we can say that :

IF THE ASCENDANT LORD ALSO RULES THE 3RD, 4TH OR 5TH WHICH ARE 10TH, 11TH AND 12TH TO THE 6TH RESPECTIVELY, THEN THE PERSON WOULD PREVENT MATTERS ON THE 6TH TO DEVELOP INTO A FULL FLEDGE CONFRONTATION.

This can only happen when Mercury or Jupiter is the Ascendant Lord, whether we are using the Rasi Chart or the Bhava Chalit Parasara chart.

Further details can be gleaned from Mercury or Jupiter's placement, when they are the Ascendant Lord.

By the way, Saturn can also come into the picture for the last concept just discussed (about Mercury and Jupiter being the lagna lord to avoid full fledge litigation) provided you are talking about the Bhava Chalit Chart and Sagittarius is rising the 1st half of the Ascendant and Capricorn is overlaying the 2nd half of the Ascendant.

The would mean the latter part of Aquarius would be overlaying the 3rd house cusp making Saturn the lagna lord as well lord of the 3rd Bhava.

What about the Taurus ascendant, Venus being the 6th lord in the 6th house?
Does this lead to court room litigation?

This is an interesting situation. I tell you why.

Firstly, according to classics Venus in the 6th is at its weakest. This is from Phaladeepika and Saravelli.

Secondly, Venus is a functional malefic for a Taurus Ascendant. This is from BPHS.

BUT.............

(1) Venus is the natural ruler of the 7th here (we discuss only the Rasi Chart here and not the Bhava Chalit Chart). So this is somewhat like the house of arbitration 7th functional lord going to its previous house which based on one of the earlier concepts expounded, means it has BOTH arbitration and litigational behaviour involed in this Venus placement. But here we are talking about NATURAL RULERS and not functional rulers, so the arbitration technique is somewhat dampened. (It takes time for the functional ruler to pass its effects to the natural ruler).

(2) Nevertheless, notwithstanding the mixture of behaviour predicted in (1), Venus is in Libra, so there is vipareet raja yoga involved (also one of the conecepts discussed earlier). Something good comes out of it and since Venus is a natural benefic, it would slant towards non-draconic means of settling things, notwithstanding (1).

(3) And Venus is in Libra the sign of arbitration. So the arbitration weight is somewhat strengthed notwistanding (1)'s conclusion. Another faction for Venus for going for the arbitration way. Venus is strong in its style (Libra is the Moolatrikona sign of Venus) but not so comfortable with 6th techniques of litagtion UNLESS Mars comes in since 7th where Venus is a natural ruler, is a house of war too. And don't forget Venus is in Libra. Libra can go to war if it need to.

(4) Venus is a functional malefic for a Taurus Ascendant, so again this factor would veer it towards litigational means.

I would say the person has litigational tools at its disposal in dealing with a matter but which way it swings would depend on aspects to Venus by other planets and this has to be studied carefully. Venus, however, may not be so direct since its rulership of the 1st is dampened by Venus being in its own sign in the 6th and also being in Libra. 1st house is the house of directness.

Thanks for the elaborate explanation. Will it lead to marital litigation by any chance? because of venus represents marriage?
7th ruler mars is in capricorn and saturn in scorpio. Jupiter from aquarius aspects venus and sun in libra

It may. Sun is a fiery planet and is Neecha Bhanga by Venus so Venus call the shots and Sun will add fuel to her fire. The trine of Jupiter to the Sun in this case only makes the person pursue what is deem right for him or her.

Jupiter in Aquarius is disposited by Saturn so not that benevolent.

Saturn in Scorpio is in mutual exchange with Mars in Capricorn leading to both of them settling in their own signs - Mars in Scorpio in 7th and Saturn in Capricorn in 9th. 9th is the 3rd to 7th, the first step towards break or reconciliation in marriage. With Mars in 9th, it may mean break or litigation coming in.

Venus with Saturn right next to it only succumb to whatever Venus has in mind for her agenda since Saturn is Venus best friend. Still Saturn is a patient chap, and if patient and take time to let everything settle first, litigation can be avoided.
