I have been collecting information about retrograde Jupiter in transit and in Lagna chart.

In my research so far, I found that retrograde Jupiter in current transit in Gemini caused a lot of problems to the natives during its period of retrogression, especially when the natives were running a Mahadasha combination involving Jupiter. After Jupiter became direct on 7th of March this year, their conditions gradually improved if other conditions in chart were not too drastic.

However, I have also seen natives with retrograde Jupiter in Lagna charts who have done well.

It seems to me that Jupiter in its own or friendly signs gives benefic results when retrograde and malefic results when retrograde in enemy signs.

However, I am not sure at all about this and am open to seeing evidences different from the above.

So far, I had not thought about the native being away from the native place. I'll look for this information now and will post results if I get to know about it.

Another feedback -

Yesterday after reading this post, I went over all the periods in last 12 years when Jupiter had been retrograde in my Moon chart (Capricorn Moon sign), from where transits are seen.

It turned out that for Capricorn Moon sign, Gemini is the only enemy sign of Jupiter that falls in a negative house (6th house). 12th and 3rd houses are occupied by Jupiter's own signs Sagittarius and Pisces and 8th house is occupied by its friendly Leo sign, so they don't count that much.

Last time when Jupiter was retrograde in Gemini, I had just gone through a very bad phase of Rahu Mahadasha, so there was nothing left to get destroyed. The retrograde Jupiter in other houses didn't produce any malefic results. Some tensions in life, but no serious losses.

This year, from 7th of Nov 2013 to 6th of March 2014 when Jupiter was retrograde in Gemini, it created havoc for me. I am still recovering from its onslaught.

I happen to be in a foreign country and am running the most powerful Mahadasha combination at the time.

On 12th Oct 2009 it went retrograde in Capricorn - its debilitation sign and the 1st house in my Moon chart. This was the period when I lost a very good job without any reason from my side (facing departmental politics) and suffered for several years after this - because Saturn-Rahu placements also became malefic in the coming years.

But I had been quite surprised to lose my job at that point because I was running a favourable Mahadasha combination. I was in India then.

This time in the first half of 2014 too when Jupiter was retrograde, I have suffered losses in my career but in a foreign country.

The coming exalted transit of Jupiter is supposed to be good for me. So let's see how much ground I can recover then. Right now it looks like a challenge to even reach that period when Jupiter will be exalted.

Jupiter happens to be direct and powerfully placed in my Lagna chart and I am running Mahadasha of Jupiter.

I have retrograde jupiter in my birth chart in 3rd house (who is also lagna lord).

BTP : 4th oct 1986, 12:13 PM, Belgaum, karnataka.

Iam also running jupiter mahadash & saturn antardasha, i had tough time during jupiter retro time frame from NOv 2013, march 2014....stress, workwise not the best, etc etc....

It was OK OK...time period....not bad...not good....Any thought on it, ? It might help ur case study,

Thanks Saindhaviji. My moon sign is also Capricorn. The period from 7th of Nov 2013 to 6th of March 2014 when Jupiter was retrograde in Gemini was hectic for me as well as far as work is concerned but it was manageable. I am also running Rahu MD - Mars AD so I cant say for sure if it was purely due to Jupiter being retro or a mix of both. I am also looking forward to the Jupiter transit into Cancer.

Btw coming back to the original topic under question, I also have retro Jupiter in 4th house Sagittarius. Right from my childhood days, I went to school from my grandparents place which was away from my native place. It continued during college as well and also now since I am working in a foreign country. May be its due to Jupiter being retro and also in 4th house.

I have retrograde Jupiter in the 8th house- the worst possible position of Jupiter for a Pisces ascendant. I came to US at the start of JU Mahadasha (Ju-Ju).

Life has been one huge roller coaster ride since then. Monetarily, I suppose I made some money than I would have made if I had stayed back in India. No career progress, umpteen breaks in career, constant relocation, emotional distress, depression, horrible marriage...are just some of the events that I have experienced during "benevolent" JU dasha.

Forget fame....I have lost all my family-absolutely no touch with them- and whatever little good name I had, is ruined forever.

If Ju dasha has been this bad...I really do not want to live long enough to experience SA dasha.

I think the rest of the chart also decides to what extent retrograde Jupiter will impact life either in transit or in Lagna chart.

You say your retrograde Jupiter was hectic but manageable. For me it was not manageable. Things happened suddenly and unexpectedly and without my fault. Perhaps your rest of the chart ensures a milder impact of retrograde Jupiter in transit. My Jupiter in natal chart is in its own Nakshatra and my Lagna is also in Jupiter's Nakshatra. Besides I am running Jupiter Mahadasha. Jupiter is also powerful in most of my secondary charts. Perhaps all this heightens its impact on me.

Sometimes I wonder if it's good to have such a powerful planet in one's chart, even if it's Jupiter. It causes tremendous impact. I would prefer a little milder impact in my life. People who have milder planets are leading better quality life than me.

Your retrograde Jupiter in Lagna chart is in 4th house in its own sign. This could make you stay away from your native place for benefic effect. But we also have to see Rahu the natural signifier of distant lands and the 7th and 12th house significations.

You say your retrograde Jupiter period was tough. But later you say it was ok, not too good, not too bad.

You need to give a clear assessment and a comparison with the period from 7th of March onwards, when Jupiter went direct. Also, whether staying in a distant land has helped.

Yes, your Jupiter being the lagna lord in a retrograde motion in 8th, combined with exalted Venus in Sandhi in Lagna has caused obstacles in your Lagna's growth. Besides, you 12th ruler Saturn is also retrograde and aspects Venus in Sandhi and exalted Rahu in 4th house.

I think your Rahu Mahadasha may have been better than Jupiter Mahadasha and perhaps you'll fare better in India working for a foreign organisation. Try it and see.

You also need to take your decisions with a calm mind.

During my Rahu dasha, I suffered due to my abusive father. He treated me like I was his dog....he could do whatever he wanted to do.

I had very low self esteem for my parents always compared me with others....

And if I go back to India, I might be killed....death may not be a bad option at all.

I have so far endured a very very pathetic life.....not much hope left in this soul.

It seems your retrograde Jupiter and Saturn and Venus in Sandhi have trumped your benefic Rahu-Ketu axis.

You can try a country close to India - such as Nepal, Thailand or Singapore. Perhaps your US experience will be valued there.

As discussed in above post, i wil provide further clarification.

Period from NOV 2013-march 2014 :

1) All the assignments/work i undertook, were going at a very very slow rate, work which needs 1 week to complete took, 3-4 weeks. (although work completed, it took unusually long time, very slooooww).

2) I needed to put lot of effort to complete simple work, (even for silly work, i put some much effort to complete), this may be due to sade sathi - not sure.

3) No new/good opportunities came through, tried for onsite/foreign jobs, but with no use. (Not sure if this is indicated in chart), but still trying. Can you guide me here ?

What i meant was, this period was very modest, took long time for small work, needed to put lot of effort for simple/easy work.

In Moon chart your retrograde Jupiter was in 10th house from Moon sign Virgo. Hence, slow down of work in this phase was the result.

But your chart is strong in terms of financial gains and job. Hence, retrograde Jupiter in transit didn't harm your career prospects. In fact, as compared to others you faced much less problems in this phase even though you are running Jupiter Mahadasha.

In your chart Saturn is blocking your 12th house, making it difficult for you to go abroad. I don't know if retrograde Jupiter in your chart will allow you to overcome this, as the astrologer quoted in this post has suggested.

However, you will always grow in your career even if you stay in India.

Sadhe Sati is usually benefic for Virgo Rashi people. Your Rahu-Ketu axis is malefic. Recite Mahamrityunjaya Mantra 21 times daily.

Retro Jupiter in your chart is your Lagna Lord. This makes your mind confused and may adversely affect your decision making. You need to consider at length before you make a decision.

Saindhaviji, yes there seems to be multiple Jupiter influences in your chart and perhaps explains what you have faced. Thanks for sharing your experience. In my lagna chart, Rahu is with Mercury in 9th Taurus and Retro Jupiter is in mutual aspect with 12th Lord Sun + 9th Lord Venus posited in 10th house. These could also be contributing factors for my case.

Perhaps because Jupiter rules your ascendant, it gives you only good results. It's good for you. Jupiter in 5th in a friendly sign, even retrograde, is seen to do always well.

Yours is an anomaly in this matter - or perhaps we have to study more Capricorn Rashi charts to arrive at any conclusion about retrograde Jupiter.

Yes, your Rahu is very benefic and combined with Lagna Lord Mercury it has taken you abroad and I think your Rahu Mahadasha may have been very benefic, especially materialistically.

Now in July your Rahu Mahadasha is coming to an end and Jupiter Mahadasha will begin. Jupiter will also be exalted in 7th from your Moon sign then.

Your exalted Saturn which is also retrograde, aspects your retrograde Jupiter. Because of retrogression and Saturn aspect, your Hansa Mahapurusha Yoga's quality has decreased to some extent.

My guess is that Jupiter Mahadasha will make you travel a lot. You may also make several trips to India, but you may not settle back in India.

Whether staying abroad will give you money because of retrograde Jupiter - we have to observe and see.

Materialistically speaking, the quality of your Jupiter Mahadasha may be a little less than that of your Rahu Mahadasha.

But because of your exalted Saturn in 2nd, Sun-Venus and Mercury-Rahu, you'll continue to make money anyway.

i too experienced a very rough phase during my 11th standard.I was infected by chicken box when i was about to write my 11th final exam.i have to pass 11th at any cost to enter my 12th.i wrote the exam in separate room even though the disease was very severe at the time.my family was in deep financial trouble at that time.I believe it happened during Mar - Apr 2004.My mother believes in astrology and i still remember she was telling to her sister that the troubles are because of transit retrograde jupiter in 8th house of my moon chart(capricorn).I was running rahu mahadasa and ketu sub period.i still wonders whether the troubles are because of ketu sub period or transit of retrograde jupiter in eight house of my moon chart.

Yes, Jupiter was retrograde 8th from Capricorn Moon sign in March-April 2004.

But you were running Rahu-Mercury-Jupiter since 24th March 2004, not Rahu-Ketu.

If you had chicken pox in early March, then it was Rahu-Mercury-Rahu for you. Your Rahu is malefic, so you might have got chicken pox because of Rahu.

Was it chicken pox or small pox? Small pox can leave marks on the skin, while chicken pox usually doesn't.

In March-April 2004 I was running a good period despite retrograde Jupiter 8th from Capricorn Moon sign.

Perhaps we need to see more cases of this.

yes you are correct it should be rahu-mercury.
Rahu is always malefic rite.Then why you said it is malefic for my chart.Is there any exceptions where it becomes benefic?
I faced some major illness during rahu dasha like jaundice,typhiod(don't remember dates) ,chicken pox etc.
Also to note that during my rahu-ketu in 2005 i secured highest marks (96%)in 12th in school and got rewards and prizes, but lost mbbs seat by just .5 mark in medical entrance and i got into engineering.

About 10 years of Rahu MD was in Schooling + College. Started working in 2005 and we have managed to pay off almost all of our loans & debt (which was a lot) and also built a house in our native place. So yes, based on my own experience Rahu was very benefic. Overall, There was stress only during Rahu MD/Ketu AD. Saturn AD made me lose interest in studies while I was in college. Jupiter, Mercury, Venus AD's were the best periods. Started learning astrology from Sun AD and gained more interest during Moon AD which is still continuing.
I don't like to switch jobs that often & keep chasing after money but rather prefer a steady job with good job satisfaction and growth.
I am wearing Emerald set in gold already though it is 3.2 carats if am not wrong.
As for Jupiter MD, we just have to wait and see as you have mentioned. : )

Rahu is also benefic, when placed in a good house in a friendly sign such as Taurus, Gemini, Virgo, Libra, Capricorn or Aquarius. AstroRaman above has a benefic Rahu in 9th house in Taurus. A benefic Rahu gives very good results especially during its Mahadasha. Your charts leans more towards engineering than medicine.

PS - I just checked that Jupiter was retrograde in Gemini from 29th of November 1990 to 30th of May 1991.

I suffered from severe Malaria 3 times during this period, 3rd time it was almost fatal, but I got treatment just in time. I was studying then and my education record became average during this period, which I had to improve with hard work in the coming months.

Retrograde Jupiter in Gemini was 6th from Capricorn Moon sign.

I was in India at this time.

Perhaps more Capricorn Moon sign people can tell us about it.

Time was good that time ... I got new Job in this time but about 10 kms away ... so It was positive time when Jupiter went retrograde in transit over my retrograde Jupiter ...

Better profile/work than I desired.

In RA/JU : Got good projects/favours from superiors 1-2 weeks foreign tours (office work) again travelled South east.
Got engaged (arranged marriage) again in same direction south east.
Delay in promotion during end of dasha but overall good period. Got good partner (memorable period of my life)

In RA/SA : Got married. Delay in promotions. Travelling inside India for holidays as well as office work.


My Observations:

1. When I started using Gomed ring it gave good result at work place but I observed heat & anger problems so removed the ring.

2. Ra gives me fear/tense about things in office/personal life but ulimate result will be in my favour. This might be due to Ra-Mo eclipse.

3. My family was searching parther for me since 2 years, I got engaged in 15 days as soon as Ju entered Gemini 27 May 2013. Jupiter is 7th lord placed in 9th. Jupiter entering Gemini (Asc) & aspecting 7th house & natal Jupiter. Ju in Asc in Navmansa too.

4. I have good job & my family is well off but I still have high urge for materialistic things (money,house, car etc)
FYI..No smoking/drinking/gambling habits and I am pure veg.

Instead of wearing a gem, offer milk to Shiva Linga every Monday.

Jupiter in Gemini is 3rd from your Moon sign, aspecting 7th from Moon sign. Hence, it gave you marriage.

How was your period from 7th of Nov 2013 to 6th of March 2014?
