Ketu Mahadasha -Effect on career

Dear All,
I am running under Ketu Mahadasha from last 5.5 years and I see a major impact on career in addition to major set backs in my life. Overall I have been unemployed for 1 years in varying bhukti's and the dasha has still not ended. Currently I am having a tough time getting a job. Does the Ketu dasha effects careet? or My career kundali itself is bad? I appreciate your insight/help to come across this tough time. Presently I am under shani bhukti, I think. Here are my details.

Ketu is a short and dramatic unfavourable period for most charts.
If you had taken preventative astro spiritual measures you could have
reduced its severity to a great extent and been prepared. If you have not done so, then
it is not too late to still take curative measures by lighting a dhiya or
tealight daily with a pic of Lord Ganesha every morning or evening and
reciting the mantra for Ketu 108 times.
In addition, the 4 karakas, Saturn, Sun, Mercury and Jupiter need to be
strengthened for your 10H career matters. The lord of the 10H Jupiter is a
functional malefic for this chart and is not bringing in luck as you expect.
So prayers and mantras to the said planets will definitely help when done
seriously daily and in the future.
As advised when the Ketu dasa ends, the new Mahadasa will be comparatively
favourable.

according to me , your career would have been good. Ketu is malefic in 8th house by closely conjunct with 8th lord Saturn.

Ketu is also being aspected by Enemy Sun . So Ketu is trapped between enemies.

Thanks for your responses and appreciate very much.
Here are the remedial measure which I am doing from last 6 months to 1 year. Please correct me if any thing is wrong and guide me in right direction.
Performing Ganesh pooja (dwadasanama stotram) everyday,
Siva panchakshari mantram every day .
Hanuman chalisa every day.
perfroming Aditya hridayam from last 1 month.
Vishnu sahashranama everyday.
Fasting thursdays.
visiting temples as often as possible (Baba on thursdays and Hanuman on saturday/tuesday) - I am able to do these since I don't have a job from last 5 months. - full time job ..I am not sure whether , .
I was under the impression that Jupiter is with me(benefic), since I was born under punarvasu and nakshatra lord is Jupiter.
Either way I am wearing sapphire on my right hand index finger - Please correct me on jupiter whether it is benefic or malefic.
I had a emerald earlier which was broken, so I took it away from last 1 year.

I have told you clearly in unequivocal terms that Jupiter is a functional malefic.
There seem to be clashes between the gemstones and the spiritual remedies.
Please keep it simple and straightforward and do not overdo anything.
I have pinpointed the afflicting influences
at this time which are causing the problems. I have told you the karakas.
Doing 108 times mantras to Lord Brihaspathi is recommended as well.

Thanks for the clarification, the reason being raised because of the following facts :
My Ketu-jupiter bhukti was very good as per my career and infact my family came back from India after 2 years.
The worst phase was Ketu-ketu and Ketu-venus as per my career and other major set backs.
Ofcourse, the period which I am running where nothing is happening..everything stand still except, feels peace while meditation and performing poojas.
Also please clarify: Are these the 4 karakas, Saturn, Sun, Mercury and Jupiter are functional malefic by default to all Gemini ascendants or just my lagna.

Your question is a very good one.
Your main complaint is about setbacks or obstacles to career - 10H matters.
I only examined this area.
The planets take up different roles - one they vary acc. to Asc and become
functionally malefic or benefic. significators on the other hand,
or karakas they are fixed for every chart. Karakas are not malefic or benefic.

So for Gemini Asc. Jupiter is considered as a functional malefic. Furthermore,
Mercury the lord of Gemini is not a friend of Jupiter and so they do not seem to
support each other. So, Jupiter is a functional malefic in this period and will
show its negative effects. Karakas, depending on their strengths in the chart,
are obliged to play their roles in the chart.
e.g. a chart with a functional malefic Mars, well positioned with dig bala, will tend
to give the native challenging times in its rule or sub rule; but, as a karaka the
native is a tough character and has the tendency for good resistance, determination,
resilience, and fights to the end. So similar with other karakas.

Therefore, I have given you the 4 karakas to be strengthened for your 10H affairs
irrespective of their strengths in the chart.

I hope this is clear and you can get the blessings from these planets in this area.

A little bit more clarity on the role of karakas:
They do maintain their natures - either being naturally malefic or benefic.
So eg. malefic Saturn - makes to work hard and success in the end;
and, benefic Jupiter - expansion, growth;

A planet being functionally malefic or benefic depends on the chart ascendant.

So the Punarvasu will depend on the functionality of the planet in the chart.

I should have gone down the shorter route by saying that you are
presently running Ketu/Saturn upto July 2014.
Saturn is a functional benefic for this chart but badly placed in 8H conjunct Ketu.
So at the present time things will not be good as you expect. Furthermore, Saturn
lord of auspicious 9H is negated in inauspicious 8H.
Your Mercury is your lagna lord owning two good kendra houses and adequately well placed.
You have had good results from Mercury. In my opinion it is better for you to wear the flawless emerald
and not the sapphire of a functional malefic - Jupiter.
You have special merit from your prayers and mantras, its a blessing in your chart.

I appreciate your analysis. Need a little clarification to clear the hiccups.
Is Jupiter considered functional malefic for Gemini ascendant irrespective of where it place in the chart? Or it changes depending on the position it placed, here it is place in 9th house. Because
being Jupiter functional malefic, why the Ketu-Jupiter bhukti was good &
being Venus functional Benefic why the Ketu-Venus bhukti was bad.
I may be missing something – Pls correct me.

I like your observations.
Jupiter is a functional malefic for Gemini Asc irrespective of placement.
Similarly, Venus is a functional benefic for Gemini Asc irrespective of placement.

Planets are made up of and hold benefic and malefic qualities.

So Jupiter being placed in the desirable 9H, can be said to be pacified; it is karaka of that
house, natural house of the zodiac; and so it has discharged the benefic qualities
that it naturally has in store. Result in your AD was beneficial.

On the other hand, Venus has discharged the malefic qualities that it possesses
due to an undesirable placement in 3H.

I wonder how was your Sun and Moon Bukthi periods ?

My Sun and Moon Bukthi was OK as per career is concerned, but led a bachelor life and we got united only in Jupiter Bukthi.
It looks that this Bukthi(Ketu-saturn) is bad and I need a best remedial measure to come across this stage. My patience is running away and loosing confidence. I t was already 6 months without job.
Does some thing works out If I move back to India. However I am planning to settle there.
Also, does the placement(position) of planet takes precedence over Functional nature(benefic/malefic) of planet

Addressing the point of your query re career - I request you
to to do prayer and mantras to Lord Ganesh and Lord Shani.
108 repetitions for each of them during this period. Pray also to Lord Hanumanji.
This is the best measure I can recommend at this crucial time, and ask patience of you.

You seem to have other matters related to marriage/family; and plans to return to homeland.
If you do require assistance and help in these matters, kindly refer them to the relevant forums.

Thanks, Just to give an update, that I got a job(not that Great) away from home and very less pay. I don't know when do I get better job and my career get stabilised. Also, on relation front not so good. I feel like going to India and settle. Is that work out. Any suggestions Greatly appreciated.

Just to give an further update on my career which is frustrating and confused. Because, I am getting interview calls but not job/offer letters. Is something wrong career kundali or my self, I attended 2 interviews last week i.e., 22nd and 23rd May and did pretty good. But, one of the result is negative and waiting for 2nd. I am completely frustrated, disappointed and depressed. I am not able to analyze/find the reason for this situation. I sincerely Appreciated your insight/expertise.

My experience with Ketu dasha is, it is a roller coaster ride and has career affect loosing the jobs freequently. But it depends on your ascendant and other planets around. My advice is keep god first place and make Ganesha as friend will protect. It is good time for spiritual and meditation.
