questions about upapada

Hello Everyone,

Off late I have taken a keen interest in the concepts of Upapada and A7. So after reading a dozen threads in here I have somewhat come to my own conclusions, but I still have a few questions ?

First, I am a Leo Ascendant and my UL is Scorpio (4th house), aspected by SUN/JUP/MER from 10th (Taurus). While 10th and 11th Lords are in Parivarthan (Venus & Mercury respectively).

My UL lord (Mars) is debilitated in Cancer (12th house of Rasi) and Saturn(Retrograde) sits in the 5th (sagittarius, 2nd from UL)

My questions are -

1. I understand that benfics aspecting the UL is good, and benefics in the 8th from UL help sustain the marriage. But since I have a Retrograde Saturn in 5th (2nd from UL), do you think it can still cause break of marriage, despite the benefic aspect from venus ?

2. And since my UL lord(Mars) in debilitated in the 12th (Cancer) of Rasi, does that mean I shall end up marrying someone in a foreign land, but who is from my homeland/country ? since UL falls in the 4th house of my Rasi.

Sorry for the long winded post, I was just hoping someone could show me how to draw the final conclusion from these.

In Jaimini astrology Sun/Jupiter/Mercury from Taurus cannot aspect Scorpio. Taurus sign can only give the aspect to Cancer, Libra and Capricorn.

sorry I apologize for mixing up Jaimini and Parashari systems.

So as per Jaimini, SUN/MER/JUP (or the sign Taurus, as you said) is aspecting my debilitated UL lord (Mars) ?
And Gemini (Venus) will aspect Sagittarus (which has Retrograde Saturn)
And Cancer will aspect Scorpio (UL lord aspecting own house)

So since there is no benefic aspect on the UL ,per se, is that considered bad ?

through Sage Parasara or Sage Jaimini ?

Thank you for replying. I have a question though. Since Sage Parasara mentions of UL, so can I apply Parashara concepts when analyzing my UL and UL lord ? Or should I apply only Jaimini concepts ?

Or should both concepts be applied and then the common denominator should be predicted ? i.e. if both methods point towards the same thing, then we can be more certain of the events to happen.

How was your relation with the opposite sex during the period sep 2009- oct 2012 ?

Yea .. it wasn't that great. I dated a few ... nothing serious. Why do you ask ?

MY A7 is Libra, 12th place from UL (Scorpio 4th). I heard it's really not a good place .. to have a 2/12 relation between A7 & UL.

The trouble with astrology is that many rules have been framed but verified with least actual cases. Many claim
that their experience is big, but if you go by the actual number of cases dealt by them in their experience, is pathetically
a miniscule of the population.

Now the school that advocates this principle of upapada also says, the second upapada is the 8th from the first one.
Another way , if seventh house is treated as first relationship or marriage, the second house must be considered
for the second marriage or relationship.

These schools of thought also say that a long or serious relationship should be treated as a marriage. In such cases
which UL one can consider ? Which A7 one can consider ?

If you are to go for a study of these on actual cases , how many you think will come out with the truth.

So if you think about the A7 & UL being placed in 2/12 , you can attempt to see which A7 and Which UL .
Protectively,. one can take medicine for headache before attempting this !

Thanks for the insightful post. So I guess it boils down to the fact, sometimes these theories work and sometimes they don't.

But if we go by the 1st A7 and 1st UL, which is 3rd house Libra and 4th house Scorpio respectively, and since A7 is the kind of person we like to interact with and UL is what we end up with, then I guess it makes sense.

Because if 3rd house Libra (A7) signifies a well poised communicative woman and 4th house Scorpio is homely woman with deep undercurrent emotions, we can very well see that A7 personality does not converge (or turn) into UL personality, which is to say ... i.e. the dating does not turn into a serious affair or marriage. So the 2/12 relationship holds true I suppose.

I also read that people usually endup marrying (or having a serious relationship) with one of the trinal houses of UL. I checked a few charts it works but it's not birectional.
