Gurus,

Could you please recommend mantras for gaining self-confidence?

I always doubt my ability before starting a work, though I seem to do well once am on it. I do very well once I start doing it but I expect my work to have high standards and hence keep questioning my abilities in matching my standards. That causes a fear of failure and I am very hesitant to begin something (though its ends up well when I start doing it).

The last few years have just gone by as a housewife (though am career oriented). It was a depressive too not to have any emotional support for most part or any achievements to call your own.

Now everything is changing in a month and there are going to be responsibilities with an option to restart my career - a positive change. Needless to say, I need emotional motivation/support to face them without doubting myself. Seems like a crucial phase and need positive vibes.

Could please suggest mantras that I need to chant to strengthen planets for self-confidence? I am a devotee of Lord Vishnu. Though I am aware that its not me who does the planning, execution and reaping fruits of work, but its Him, the Lord, I always seem to need this external motivation.

This kind of positive change in me would really help my husband as I wouldn't burden him with my emotional dependency during the crucial phase of his career. Please suggest.

Thank you.

Ramananji,
Is this a general mantra for confidence or specific to chart?

Thanks ji. Is there a minimum number of times to do it?

Could you recommend slokas for it as part of my daily prayer? I pray to Vishnu, Lakshmi, Tulsi and Hanuman.

I occasionally recite Vishnu Shasranamam, Panchayudha stotram, Sudharshana asktakam, Mahalakshmi ashtakam, Hanuman Chalisa, Mahalakshmi stotram from devi baghavadam (upadesam to sri narada muni).

Thanks again.

Dear friend,

Instead of doing all these just recite pancha mukha hanuman kavacham daily. That should do.

Your messages narrates strong devotee of Lord Vishnu and Mahalaxmi devi and Hanuman. It suggests me your family a vaishnavite or from Iyegangar or Madhavas. Please continue to chant the stotrams which are you right now chanting.

Neverthless you are reciting Hanuman stotram and Hanuman is one of the avatar of Lord Shiva. Please continue to recite Hanuman Chalisa. ..If I may suggest you to chant Ram Raksha stotram and or Aditya Hridaya stotram would help you daily

Thank you rjnthji and ramananji.

rjnthji,
Yes, I am an iyengar by birth. Hence those slogas. Its my grandma's suggestion (including dasavathara stotram) to make it part of my prayers. I do them but not on a daily basis. I do feel the energy when I chant them regularly - should make it a habit.

I am a devotee of Ram hence I consider Hanuman my maanaseeka guru to teach me selfless ram bhakti. I will definitely start learning aditya hridaya and Ram raksha stotram. I feel aditya hridaya could bring the focus. It has been on my mind for sometime, though I never got to it - as its said, everything needs a time I guess.

Thank you.

Ramanan ji,

Thank you again. I will start praying Hanuman in panchamukha form too. My asc lord Saturn is retrograde and exalted in 9th Libra (parivarthana with 9th). I feel the effects of it - fear of failure and focus too much how others would perceive.

I do realize the root cause is my attachment to the outcome. If I could do it without an attachment or ownership rendering my actions as service to Him, it could be the best way. I have been praying to Him for this strength in me.

Thanks basab14 ji for mentioning in other thread, "Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsha: "Do your duties in the world as if you were the doer, but knowing all the time that God alone is the Doer and you are the instrument."" I really need it.

Ju-Ven-Sat has been a period for self discovery. I pray Lord to shower his blessings for moving towards His direction.

Thanks again.

Could we see from chart if a person is blessed to learn and understand Upanishads? I have a huge interest - do I have the blessing to get to it in this lifetime? Can females learn it?

rjnthji,

Thanks again for introducing me to Ram Raksha stotram. I just read the meaning of it and is similar to kanda shasti kavacham in Tamil.

Lord Ram, being my ista devata, it feels a pleasure to recite Ram Raksha stotram. Thanks a ton. Is it available in tamil?

Ramanan ji,

I was told Pancha mugha hanuman pic/idol should be at temples and not at houses. Is this true? Is it okay if I chant/listen to it at home or should it be done at temple? Sorry for my ignorance.

Thanks.

I am glad you are a devotee of Lord Sree Ram. Anjaneyar will bless all Lord Ram Bhakt.
You should get the meaning when you recite stotram particularly Aditya Hridaya stotram, why Lord Ram as a avatar of Vishnu in manushya janma recited aditya hridayam.

If you are staying chennai visit Giri trading oulet in mylapore you will find the book stotrams of both in smalk booklet form, can be easily chanted in a Pallavan packed bus or in local EMU train or in kkolkata tube train or in Mumbai packed local train or in Delhi packed bus. Small booklet in namma tamizhla will cost Rs7 or Rs 10.

I would advice as you are interested in Upanishads, please chant stotrams instead of mantrad.I have learnt vedas and upanishads.. these are mantras produces heat generation in body, males hormonal functions can withstand such generations... these are auspious recitation

I will look into your chart

Hello vaglram,

Reciting too many mantras will be an indication of lack of self confidence. So stick to one which gives self satisfaction in true sense. 'Rama Raksha Stotram' and 'Panch Mukhi Hanuman Raksha Kavach' both are powerful. Find the following links of rama raksha stotram. I don't know tamil, hope the links will help.

Thanks Ragav ji for the slokas. I totally agree with you.

I come from a family with grandfathers professions as vaishnava temple priests and doing parayanams so I have been asked to know these as bare minimums. I don't regularly recite them though - lazy me.

I see slokas as a means for awakening the divine spirit (self realization) within us and connecting with Supreme hence I like to know the meaning of slokas even if I don't recite them regularly. I like to listen to Sanskrit slokas/verses and my way of connecting with Lord is actually talking to him. I honestly enjoy and cherish thinking/talking to Him than using mantras or slokas. My fav is bhakti yoga. Slokas explain Him and I like to read the meaning more than the sloka itself (for my lack of Sanskrit knowledge).

I honestly want my heart/mind to say slokas to connect with Him, but I never want to confine the results of slokas to materialistic benefits. That would be seeking a drop when entire ocean is available. When I am devoted to Him, He will know what I need.

I know the question I asked itself stems from ignorance as I should be aware that there is nothing called as "me/I". I am being an instrument in doing things, not the doer. I wanted slokas/mantras that would make me feel connected to Lord and help me realize this fact in its entirety. I know its definitely not easy as said, but I want to start somewhere in that direction.

Thanks ji. Sorry if am going overboard.

Rjnth ji, I have been living in US fsor last few years :) My husband is from mylapore and regularly visit Giri traders whenever I could. I have it my hometown too, kanchipuram :) Miss the kanchi feel here.

I can kind of relate to what you say..I try and go to the temples here as and when possible but i have never got the feel or the sense of satisfaction that i used to have back in India..especially Mylapore. I lived there for about 5 years or so..I used to feel so peaceful and happy when I visit the temples out there. I just love the place. I wish i could go back there again.

Dear Ramanan:

I've read HREEM mantra has to do with Sund as much as with Devi (Durga). Could I repeat it without initiation? I need to improve my selfconfidence and self esteem.

Thanks a lot
