But I too am confused a bit about that 5th house nakshatra situation. Do they mean the cusp of the 5th as seen through KP, or nak. of 5th's Lord. In this case my lord if Mars, and it's in the nakshatra of Sun, which rules my 2nd house, and sits in the 10th.

I've read and watched videos from astrologers also talking a lot about Rahu representing cinema (illusion / "fake" like acting). ....

and you were correct xxyyzz, on the types of films I'm interested in making. The action, or more tragic and fantasy/history kind.

this is an interesting subject. see my thoughts below:
Ra acts mysteriously.....knows no limits.......and no boundaries of either morality or satisfaction on it's own and needs a guiding steering factor.
The steering controls of Rahu are following IMO:

1) Conjunction Planet:
a)If the conjunction planet is stronger than rahu throuhg strength in that Rasi/ house or degree....then Rahu complements the positive side of that planet. For example Ra with strong Jup( in Saggitarius for instance) will act like Jup and will enhance it to maybe 2XJup.
Plus Rahu will offer tremendous energy, free-will to push the individual higher and higher

b)Rahu in conjunction with a weak planet will take it over and run havoc brining out the dark side of that planet...for example Ra with a weak Jupiter ( say debilitated or even innimical place) will bring out immorality.....magnified. This is normally referred to as a the afflcition by Rahu in some other places.

2) Standalone Rahu:

a) in many cases I have seen......is taken over by the Lord of the nakshatra Rahu is sitting in...and if strong, this is the strongest form of Rahu...pushes the native to magnificient heights conquering all barriers.
there were a couple of charts posted on this forum of successfull indutrialists / self made millionares...where this variant of Rahu applied. I will try to find the links and post them here as case studies.

and then there is the chart of Dhirubhai Ambani....arguably India's biggest Industrialist to date....with a standalone Rahu in his own Nakshatra and his own house and with an amasabala of 6.
two of these 3 cases had Rahu in it's own house also.

In this case the strong Rahu crushes the siginifications of thre house it is sitting in and overrides it with the siginifcations of the house where the Nakshatra Lord sits.

b) If the Nakshatra Lord is weak, then Ra is directionless and brings out the darker side towards the significations of that house.
For example Ra in Capricorn in 4th has the lord Moon debilitated.....will adversely affect the academics/ study of that native

the problem arises when rahu is with many planets and also aspected by planets....

it creats great confusion and ups n downs ......

My rahu seems pretty beneficial, being in 10, conjunct atma + 10/5th lord, and in venus nakshatra...
it's also conjunct venus in my 5th in navamsa. And once again in 10th in D10.

And yes, xxyyzz you are correct on jupiter dashsa being when I developed and decided on the creative career.
Jupiter - Ketu period was when I officially "announced" I want to get into film, before that I was into visual arts/painting or design.
then Jupiter - Venus was when I started really working (well, learning at first) about it.

Nothing "bad" happening, but just nothing happening at all and a severe lack of inspiration on my part.

Thank you, yeah I felt that within me. That now is the "Test", the true most difficult moment yet in career, and where I need to do the most hard work myself without much planetary help or "luck".
Is this a good time for writing perhaps? (hard work, typing everyday ,sitting by a computer, researching...) seems to fit the saturn feeling.

To get this post on topic - I did notice my saturn aspects the AmK, so would something major career-related come forth during this time? It's(saturn) also in the Nakshatra of Jupiter, my AmK.

I tried this with a few charts I have with me. Posting my experience here. I know all these people personally, so let me know if you see any personal bias creeping in.

1. One has Sun Amk in Aries in 12th. She wants to head a huge company some day and keeps dreaming of that. Her lagna lord Venus is in 11th in Pisces. She is crazy about two concepts -- **the market** and **glamour**. Her Ak is Saturn (retro).
She works in the events and exhibition industry.

2. Another is in defence services. Her AmK is Sat conj Mars MK (defending the motherland???). Her AK is moon in its own house.

I think there is something to what you have written. Am going to check a few more charts and post results here.

Also, as I mentioned in a previous post in this thread, I have Rahu AmK. But, I am quite attracted to alternate therapies and am planning to learn something like that... Would you have any further suggestions on how to read Rahu Amk?

hi amy as far as rahu (amk) is concerned a person should judge the career himself according to his /her intrest because rahu is unpredictable ......

it can take you into science field ,glamour, politics, or even magician....

so each person should judge the aspects on rahu and placement &conjunction .....

than tally with your hobby or intrested field........
