From your feedback it appears that your Libra Rashi chart is giving transit effect. Rahu was malefic in your 2nd house of wealth and hence, causing problems in career. This indicates that current transit will be benefic for you.

Yes, it is cyclic. I did have very good possibilities, but they have chosen people who are more advanced in their scholarships to me by four or five years. I can't beat finished products with a promise of a good finished product. At the end of the day it is all about economics and market. But my advisers think that the next year should be THE year for landing something solid. In any event, I have to say that in terms of grand scheme of things and life, the last two weeks triggered events that will have a strong positive effect in my career for a lifetime. As you know, academia is much more about patience and persistence than instant gratifications.

Thanks for your response. I will just have to wait out the next couple of years and as you said-try to find the opportunities. I have another question- I am currently abroad. Do you think I am going to stay abroad or will make a move to India back or even somewhere closer to india? Do you see any movement in the transit or in this sade sati? This question is really important for me. I want to take a well planned and informed decision which is good for family and kids and not regret the decision later on. What will be the best for me in your opinion?

Your Dashamansha (D-10), the secondary chart for career is problematic - 10th Lord Moon is with Ketu in 12th, Mars aspects 10th house in its debilitation sign and Saturn is debilitated in 7th, thus causing problems in professional (also personal) partnerships - primarily a conflict in career and personal life.

6-12 axis is very strong in Dashamansha. This has taken yu abroad and will keep you abroad, but it may bring you success after struggle.

These problems are likely to slow down your progress in career to some extent.

But Lagna chart, the primary chart is amazing - you have two Mahapurusha Yogas - Bhadra and Hansa, apart from Guru-Mangal and Budhaditya Yogas, Saturn exalted in 2nd and Venus well-placed in 2nd, Rahu very benefic in Taurus in 9th.

Navansha has 10th Lord Jupiter exalted and aspecting its own 10th house. Sun is exalted in 11th along with Mars in his own house, giving income, but Saturn is debilitated in 11th with enemies Sun-Mars.

All these will take you to great heights, despite whatever slackening of speed caused by Dashamansha and Navansha Saturn. And you have to stay in academics.

Thank you for looking at the chart.

Yes, I have no intentions of leaving academia. And I really don't see myself leaving the US either, mainly because of the professional opportunities and research facilities. I am a literature scholar, and by default also in the business of writing; both creative and academic. Indeed, you are correct about the fact that I experience trouble in my career. I always have had to really overcome epic-scale personal, financial, and professional obstacles to achieve anything tangible. Must be the D-10. But I am very fortunate. I have very strong goodwill and regards of very renowned scholars, and supportive friends in my life. In the long run, these delays and halts that I so often experience after really giving my blood, sweat, and soul to work, do translate into bigger and sometimes intangible gains that pay off in very weird ways. But yes, delays are very frustrating.

Regarding my personal front, I guess more or less I am content. Things could always be better. But overall, I am at peace with myself and others in my life. Yes, a lot of personal plans are also now delayed since nothing materialized at the job front. But life has continued to be sweet regardless of the dysfunctionality I experience.

Health has been fine so far. No troubles, thankfully.

Despite all the obstacles in life I have had gradual improvement in career but yes, last year was mentally and professionally andpersonally difficult. I feel a lot stress and restlessness even now, so I am wondering if it is like this that I am getting the effect of Saturn and Rahu in respect to my Moon, from where it is in my 4th house, forming a dhaiya? I had felt exactly the same way when Saturn had transited to Libra sometime around middle of 2012 and felt better when Saturn had retrograded back to Virgo.
