I second you SR. Unfortunately, criticism and condemnation can neither exonerate the culprits nor can they add relief to the trauma of a rape victim, particularly this girl who has been brutally victimized to sustain irrecoverable physical and mental pain.
But still all the esteemed forum members can pull up a helping hand towards such victims in every little way possible.

Echoeing on to what ROFL and SR mentioned above......helping in whatever way we can to the victim is not only important, but even more important than that is punishing the culrpits in such a way that even a thought of committing a crime against woman should send shivers across the spines of those evil bXXXXXXX (can't use foul language in the forum na, so XXXXXXXX).

few things and ideas
1) please discourage your children from watching movies/serials where women are shown in obscene way or women are just shown as an object of physical desire
2) instill the idea of divineness in children for women, for this to happen share the good mythological stories of women where they have shown their power to win over evil.
3) instill the fear of sin and punishmnet in children, if they even think of crime against women.
4) more importantly for girls and women around us, let us try to equip them with more fighting techniques so that they can fight back.....

we all know what kind of punishments are given in the middle east countries if any crime is commmitted against women. we want such laws and implemented strictly in india. as well.

so guys n gals please please think, you will know what is right and wrong (nothing great and truthful than our conscience)...so please extend your solidarity for this support cause.

thank you

She passed away this morning.
Do include her in your prayers today.

The reason one doesn't do these activities ought not to be fear that law will punish them if not, for such an act shows a complete decay of moral and ethical values. No doubt, they ought to be punished and the law can serve as a deterrent indeed, But the problem is far more deep rooted than that. This act wasn't that of a single man, in which case one might dismiss him as a sadist, psychopath or an individual criminal. But this was the act of a gang, it shows the complete failure of society/family and the cultural setup these men lived in, to instil values in them. While anger and unrest will ensure that these men are punished, they are merely the focal point at the moment, I'm sure we all realize that the decay in this case goes far beyond. them.

What made me upset was that the crime was not committed by an individual but a group of people. All of them lacked humanity and conscience. The intent was malicious from the very beginning. Pure barbarism. The intent to rape or even the heinous act stems from the utter disregard for the other person's existence. It is a cruelty of the supreme order because it denies the right to exercise one's will, whether in this case or the ones that go unreported, outside or inside the domestic walls.

May she rest in peace.

UNIFEM founded in 1976. Aha!!! What a joke!!!

Guilty Rapists should be brutally assaulted and all their organs chopped off.

All the actress and actors over the world should be condemned to death for promoting such crimes.

I came across this one sentence and its so true "Women in our country are neither safe in womb nor outside" so true...!!!

Very nice ideas @navi_revi, government through schools and within family, parents should start from the grass root level to inculcate such thoughts and ideas right from beginning. Its not just these uneducated people have committed crimes, but white collar people in offices, buses, eve teasing and people of rich families with political connections have that big ego and adding to all this there is no punishment to avoid such further acts, all have been in past involved in such heinous and barbaric crimes.

Girls should be given self defense classes in school itself . parents dont hesitate to give ur daaughters pepper spray, teach them abt human rights boys should also be taught to go to help girls when they need help. and yes the tv and hindi movies definitely contribute to eve teasing and harassment. definitely now they should show some tv serials portrayin strong women who dont hesitate to attack their assailants,to instill confidence and to build up strong self esteem.
dont hesitate to voice ur opinions when u feel cheated abused or harassed. women should be treated with dignity and respect only then prosperity comes into ones life.Above all teach the girls Maa Durga stotras and Hanuman Chalisa for i firmly believe help is sent in dire situations.

I am overseas for short visit presently & here people are laughing on me & my head hanging in shame.

We are worshipers of Durga,Saraswai,Laxmi,Sita,Radha & so many but we dont respect women at all. Why indian men became like this i dont know.

Till we all will not think that next victim can be my daughter, sister ,wife or mother,it will never change . We have to think it honestly.

Any astrologer on forum please look at indian horoscope & tell why it is happening in india & what is the remedy.

I did not see this thread before and only now read this.
It is natural that many of the bloods are boiling. It is high time the government acts fast and gives very serious punishment.

Country should not be in shame. The people living here should keep their heads down shame including Politicians, Investigation agencies,Judiciary etc. Atleast one High Court Judge initiate suomoto case on the rogues who have committed shameful act. H.C. Judge asked Cops whre is the security for this brave girl who cried all along the road in the bus passing four police chowkies, nobody heard her cry. Even one cop would have heard by this time this daughter of India could have been saved.

I salute the bravery of the young girl by coming out with guts and declaration of such rogues in writing to police.

I once again salute the young girl for her bravery and RIP.... and heavy heart condolence to her parents

I dont know what happened to my long reply, it disappeared.

Yes, it is the culprits who need to be ashamed but still you see, if one person does, whole community is blamed.

If a brahmin eats nonveg, people would say all brahmins are like this.
If some beggars beg, they say all Indians are like this.

See in Germany when I went they said, your country is full of poverty and so on, similarly at other places.
Similarly they would say your country is full of rape and murders. We are dead against such things and want severe punishment for the guilty but still being in this country, we get the blame too.
So we should all protest against such happenings and that exactly helped in the government acting faster.

Dev Ji,

Protest is required but it doesnt finish the root causes. It is a temporarily relief from agression and frustration against the system.

criminal and barbaric mind deserves hard punishment but it doesnt stop crime and specially "VIOLENCE". Infact, the unsusally cruel punishments gives birth to more different kinds of violence because that kind of thoughts gets mixed up in the universal conciousness. It is the dark side of universal conciousness because of which these kind of incidents are happening.

Agreed, unless the person changes consiously it wont be eradicated but definitely there will be strong effects, ie crime level may go down say from 50% to 2% or so.

Yes, very severe punishment when given would help certainly, like I wrote in the astrology and spirituality in this forum thread, when the desire to rape is curbed through medications, then the effect will be there, that is the best punishment for the rapist, his biological urge should be destroyed completely. There should not be discussions on this, some far and some against, it should be implemented immediately.

Same here, these few days when we go out people look at us strangely. when my daughter went to work everybody briught up the topic and u feel embarassed especially as u know the indian people itself are nice and this is the work of a handful of corrupt people and the apathy of the police.
Seems very strange that the politicians instead of dealing with the problem is finding excuses for the shameful act and some trying to pass the blame on the girl.
We Love u dear Amanat:Nirbhay. we salute ur bravery and pray for justice to be granted to u.Be at peace.
