I am an Aquarius Lagna as well as Rashi, with Venus placed in the 4th house; but in a Mrityu avastha. Now, I am sure that anyone who has even a modest knowledge of astrology knows that Diamond (representing Venus) is the best gemstone for Aquarius, being the Lord of 4th and 9th houses and a friend of the Lagna lord,Saturn . To read on which finger it should be worn, I started reading S Rath's 'Vedic Remedies in Astrology' and I stumbled upon something which to me was unheard of. It said that gemstones should be avoided in index fingers and each finger represents different trikonas: dharma, artha, kama and moksha, and gemstones of planets in Moksha trikona should not be prescribed as then they would have to be worn in the ring finger.

About my purpose for wearing Diamond, they are several; a property issue, for monetary gains and for helping me in relationships with the fairer sex.
My question is:
1. Any comments, for or against what S Rath has written?
2. What would be the consquences if I still wear a Diamond ring?
3. If I still wish to wear it, on which finger should it be worn?

The thumb is ..fire
Index..air..That is why in gyan mudra these two fingers are made to come in contact for the air element to make the fire of quest burn well so that it burns all our samskaras.
Middle finger..akash tattwa...it is called saturn finger and saturn signifies the akash or time
Ring..earth
Little...water....
.Yes u can wear it in your ring finger

In my humble opinion, firstly, I would like to say that for a native with Aquarius ascendant, Venus is not only the functional benefic, but also a yoga karaka. Therefore, you can definitely wear diamond. But I do not understand why index finger should confuse or bother you, because even if you go by the traditional rule of gem recommendations, index finger is for Jupiter and his stone yellow sapphire, ring finger is for Sun(Ruby), middle finger is for Saturn(Blue Sapphire) and Gem stones of Mercury and Venus are worn on the little finger. If you therefore go by the traditional rule, you should wear it on your little finger. However one thing that you need to get clarified is about which hand you need to wear it. Some say right hand is for men and left hand is for women while other astrologers have different opinion based on lunar or solar deity appeasement which I do not understand clearly.
However, there are a lot of astrologers like Pt. Rath, who recommend wearing gems based on the thathpurusha of interest. The ring finger denotes Dharma (Righteousness, Adherence to duties, etc..), middle finger denotes Artha(Wealth, career, etc..), little finger denotes kama(marriage, love, relationship, etc...) and index finger represents moksha(liberation, spirituality, enlightenment, etc...). Therefore Mr. Rath's point of view is that(based on what I understand) if one wears a gem stone on the index finger, there are strong changes that the planet corresponding to that gem would use all its energies in liberating the native from everything related to material world and guide the native through the path of enlightenment. But if your primary goal for wearing a gem stone is to strengthen your career prospects, strength your marriage/relationship, help you in consistent flow of wealth and comforts, then wearing the gem in the index finger(Jupiter's stone according to traditional school of thought) might not help you in achieving the same, even though you have chosen the right gem with best quality and at a capable weight.
In your case, the very option of index finger is totally ruled out because the finger for diamond in the traditional school of thought is little finger. What you need to think however is, are you wearing the diamond for love, relationship and marriage or if your intention is focused towards wealth and comforts. Venus is capable of both and if your interest lies in the latter(wealth and comforts) and if I were you, I will definitely send a mail to Mr. PVR Narasimha Rao or to some reputed astrologer, explain this point and verify if I can wear the gem in my middle finger. Since middle finger denotes Artha(wealth, career, comforts) and venus is capable of providing this, wearing a diamond in this finger for the intent of artha seems very logical.
