A good method is to get the Sukshmantar Dasha table of your chart (Jagannath Hora gives it).

If you know the exact timings of some events of your life, you can tally these event timings with the Sukshmantar table and see if they match with the planetary influence combinations listed there.

If there seems to be a discrepancy in any event's timing, shift the time of your birth by seconds or minutes to see how much the Sukshmantar table shifts and which combination matches with all the event timings that you have.

While Pratyantar Dasha table is less sensitive to minutes and seconds, the Sukshmantar table is very sensitive and even a second's difference shifts the planetary combination. It's possible to set your exact time of birth to the second with the Sukshmantar table, if you know the exact time of certain events of your life - and if you know how to match them with the Sukshmantar table.
