I have heard that the combination of Mars and Ketu in the first house forms Angarak Dosha. I was hoping if someone could confirm this to me and also what does Angarak Dosha actually do?

If Mars is in lagna, it will aspect 7th house, house of marriage. This will affect your married-life, as Mars is a malefic (by nature). It may become a benefic based on your lagna.
Also you say Ketu is in lagna, then Rahu will be in 7th house, house of marriage. It will also affect severely your married-life if it is not in a star of which a benefic planet is the ruler. Horoscope-matching is to be done carefully by an expert.

For your Lagna---Vrischika (Scorpio).—The Moon is the best benefic and Jupiter and the Sun are also benefics.
Mercury and Venus are evil.
Mars and Saturn are neutrals.
Mars is lagna lord as well as lord of 6th house. Rahu is in the star Rohini whose lord is Moon, the 9th lord
(a trine) and a best benefic. Ketu is in the star of Anuradha whose lord is Saturn, lord of 3rd and 4th(a neutral).
Mars aspects 7th house and the bad effects of Rahu in 7th house--house of marriage -- are minimised to a large extent.
During the Dasa Bukthi periods of benefics and netrals, you need not worry much. But Mars is your Bhathak and its Dasa-bukthi periods may cause problems, but Mars will confer all benefits of its signification (what he is supposed to do).

I also finally would like to ask as I have a mixture of good/bad planets are there any stones you could recommend based on my lagna chart? Would it be better for me to wear something to address the malefic planets such as Mercury/Venus or should I focus on increasing the strength of the positive planets I have such as Jupiter/Moon?
