Ketu-indicates past life relations with your near ones

Hi Shilpa,

What if a planet conj Ra in other's chart. My mother and me I feel are definitely related in past births but there is no Ke connection. My Ra is on her Asc (with her Ve and Sa) in Libra. No planets in my chart along her Ra/Ke in Sag/Gem.

Ra is a forward looking planet....desperately and impatiently wanting to run further, higher, faster....having nothing to do with the past.
Rahu conjunctions with another chart is symbolic on new souls coming together for the first time, exploring each other but one life time is not suffcient and hence preparing grounds for more intimate and deeper interactions in future lives......this is the case when there are no overlaps on Ket in the chart.

Ra-Asc overlap would indicate a developing relationship with a 3rd persons actions ( good or bad) reposnible for brining the two closer....
all 3 souls will come cloer and much more intimate in lives to come.
that there is Ma and Ve is also implies the relationship is quite sporting energtic and affectionate now and will develop inot more intimate types of Love and also competitors in lives to come.



And what if one person's Ke conj Merc in another and their Ke is conj Sa in the first person's chart? Is it right to assume it could be different lives- Merc for uncles/cousins/siblings and Sa is employee or some such relation?

in addtion to the above Mercury would be a mentor from the past lives who dod not do justice to his mentor like relationship and trust put in him.....and will have those karmik debts to fullfill

Likewise Saturn could be servent and also a forced load hanging around the neck.....who could be benefial or suffocating but like a forced person in the life that there may be no getting away from until fate so rules



I do see definite Ke connection in most of the close relations within my circle.

Jignesh's Ketu overlaps with Madvi's ascendant....whihc means Madvi has HUGE Karmik debts towards Jignesh...from many previous lives.

The Karmik balance is very one sides...and Madvi has to repay a lot at the soul level. She may surrender her complete life and do everything for Jignesh...almost in a hurry to pay off the debts.

meanwhile Jignesh has no planet overalpping with Madvi's Ket whihc confirms he has little or no debts from previous lives to pay towards Madvi

--7th Lord Me is conjunct but not combust with friendly sun in the Dharmsthan......with Mars also sitting in his own house in the 9th.
In Navamsa sun sits in the own house in 9th.

she will be intelligent, religous, lucky for the spouse and excellent undertsanding and execution of her Dharma ( duties)

--8th house has Venus in own house.....good placement from a female horoscopy POV in many ways

--Ketu in the 12th indicates and advanced, spiritual soul......not caught too much in materialistic desires.

--Ascendant Lord debilitated and 6th house badly afflicted would make her vulnerable to attcak from diseases and emotional problems especially from various relatives.

I have a similar case viz. husband and wife have no planets overlapping. Ketu in cancer in 5th house for the husband . Wife has no planet there. Her ketu is sitting in 12 in Aquarius . Husband's Aquarius is empty. As I understand no Karmic debts mutually. But husband is domonating and wife is always submissive and serving him politely. Can you explain this situation. Also it is said for people with ketu in 12, this is the last life. If they are new souls as you said ,does it mean the new soul's lfe ends here.

--this situation would imply a relatively few Karmik debts to each other.

--that she has a human life would imply she still has Karmik debts.....because of whihc she will still have to face the normal human troubles, related to health, emotional sorrows etc to some degree. Husband may just be a tool
--Ketu in the 12th does indicate less material and a greater spiritual existense......but the whole chart and higher divisions also have to back it. It alos indicates a soul coming towards the cluster of last few lives, if not the last one.

Thank you . While on the subject I read in another forum an interesting topic on how to fix your past life chart (PLC) involving Ketu. It says : Add 12th cusp cordinales and Kethu"s (360 degrees basis) = PLC
For eg. For Taurus Lagna 12th cusp Aries is 17.48.+Ketu"s cordinates(Ketu in 5 ) 154.52 = 172.40 or 22.40. Your PLC Lagna is Virgo 22.40.

Dear Kannan,
there is an approach in our ancient systems that blends astronomy and astrology to come up with numerial answers.
It's the Sphuta Siddhants that take the logitudnal position of planets with relvant karkatwas, perform math on them ( generally summations on a certain basis) to derive a relevant parameter.

I am not particularly familiar with the usage of Ketu to fixed the past life..... but what you have described above ties in to the Sphuta siddhanta.

Beeja and Kshetra Sphuta used a lot more actively to determine the fertility, conception in males and females, the most fertile points in the chart and using transits one can even calculate even the most fertile dates for conceptions. You can read more below.

For Ketu related sphutas I believe the roots might be in the 1st century BC..... Brahma-Sphuta-Siddhanta blending astronomy with astrology. It's a difficult read....if I run into the Ketu specific calcualtions, I will share with you.

One more clarification,Shilpa, on this subject

My grand son is helping me a lot financially besides being affectionate to me. But this does not seem to be reflected in Ketu relationship in the horoscopes. I have Ketu in Virgo in 5H ,his 5H also Virgo is empty. This means , as I understand, he does not carry particular debt towards me. How do we account for this. If you look at Ketu in his horoscope he is sitting in Dhanush in 8 H along with Moon ,where I have Mercury in Dhanush in the same 8 H. On this basis I act more or less a mentor to him in this life. What should nave been our past relationship. Can you help ?

You have unfullfilled debts as a mentor to pay back to him in this life......because you didn;t do full justice to him in previous lives in similar roles.

He doesn't have any significant debts from past lives carried forward towards you.
He juts needs to be a good grandson in this life.....and he is merely doing his good grandson duties by helping you financially.

8th house has many positive sgnifications such as it promises good health, knowldege of ancient sciences, interest in occultism, providing loans, manging finances and financial supports, actually the list is longer......inspite of being called a dusthan.

So the mentoring could be in any of the above areas or their variants.

I would interpet that as many strong karmik debts accrued over several lives by the person that has many planets in his chart, overalpping with other's Ketu.

These Karmik debts were accrued in man diffrent relations that he had in the past such as father, mentor, lover/ husband, competitor / rival.....he had many chances to fix it in past but could not take them.

In this life he has to pretty much repay in all those areas.......and since he has planets in 3rd house....it would come in the areas of social support/ social respect and other 3rd house signifciations.

Thanks a lot Shilpaji. Actually in one chart Ketu is in 5H and in the other persons chart it is happening in 3H, degree wise LL Mercury is conjunct with Ketu with in one degree. The other person's Ketu is in the 6H of the first one aspected by the 9L[Jupiter] of him. Please explain. regards

My friend is having Venus in Aquarius (3rd house)

on the same time her ketu is in Sagittarius(ascendant, lagna), i have no planets in Sagittarius.(6 house)

This post mentions that Ketu is about karma and past life relations.

My husband has Ketu present in the 7th house of marriage. I on the otherhand have Ketu in the 11th house.

We have had problems within our marriage and are currently separated. What are the implications of previous life relationships for both of us? Why does Ketu cause problems in a marital bliss when it is present on the 7th house of marriage?

Is person with Ketu in the 7th house of marriage always going to have issues with his/her spouse even if they divorce and move on to the next relationship?
