I write only as a student of Jyotish, not as a practicing astrologer and I am sure there are others better qualified who can give greater insight.
Assuming your Lagna is Cancer, then the only strength I can see your Mercury has is that it is Kendra in 4th house. However, this is outweighed by the damage done by association with Sun and Ketu and a 7th aspect from Rahu. Further, for Cancer lagna, Mercury rules the dusthana houses 12th and 3rd and is considered a malefic for Cancer lagna. Mercury also becomes benefic or malefic according to the planets it shares a house with and here it shares the 4th with two malefics. Finally, something which is not always given enough attention by some Jyotishi, is that it is in a dead degree. That may actually reduce its power as a malefic, but it also means that it has very little juice to do much at all. Your Mercury dasa period, whose commencement depends on the time of your birth, probably feels like a grey period, where just nothing of note happens. Stagnant, you might say.
Unfortunately, it's not possible to comment on what might be happening with your navamsa chart as an accurate birth time is required for that.

Dear Findpeace,

When I made your chart using 18.30 hours as your birth time, the ascendant I got is Taurus but then when I brought forward your birth time by 23 minutes I got Aries lagna!

Now, since we are not really sure of the birth time, I, as a novice will at least skip getting into that detail.

The major reason I see with the problems in your ongoing MD (which anybody from us can pinpoint at with certainity even with the uncertain birth time) is the fact that the nakshatra lord of your MD lord Mercury is Jupiter, which is debilitated in the rashi chart!

Your MD lord Mercury is placed in Vishakha nakshatra. Vishakha is lorded by Jupiter. And like I have said, your Jupiter is debilitated in your chart. Perhaps a reason for the problems you have been encountering.

Hope this helps. I'll but anyway suggest you to look for more answers from experts.

Regards,
Karmatrix

Also, I am posting an article on Vishakha nakshatra, to help you understand your situation better. Would be nice if you can share with us, if you have experienced some "Vishakha" moments in your ongoing MD.

Regards,
Karmatrix

Article on Vishakha

Vishakha is taken as the sixteenth nakshatra among the 27 nakshatras which are considered important in Vedic Jyotish for making calculations from horoscopes based on Vedic Astrology. The meanings of the word Vishakha are translated in Vedic astrology as two-branched, divided or having more than one branches and accordingly many Indian astrologers practicing in Vedic astrology believe that the natives under the strong influence of this nakshtara face situations many times in their lives where life presents them with more than one paths or options to choose from and the success or failure of the natives under the influence of this nakshatra depends upon whether they choose the right path or the wrong. The main symbol of this nakshatra is a decorated gate or gateway like the ones which are used as welcome gates in Indian marriage ceremonies and some other kinds of ceremonies. As these gates or gateways are most of the times associated with outward display of some kind of achievement or objective that someone has reached and wants to show it off to the people around him, Vishakha is considered as a nakshatra which promotes the outward display of achievements, show off and show biz and as a result many natives under the strong influence of this nakshatra are natural show offs and they love to show their proud possessions and achievements to the world. It should be noted that the marriage ceremonies in India where the decorated gateways are used, are quite a show of wealth, status and position of a family in the society and accordingly most of the other ceremonies which use these kinds of decorated gateways are also associated with showing off of one kind or the other and at the same time, all of these ceremonies are performed to celebrate some kind of achievement or the beginning of something new which is considered to bring good results. Therefore many Vedic astrologers believe that Vishakha can be seen as a nakshatra which promotes the celebrations and outward display of money, possessions, power or beauty.

Vedic astrology assigns two ruling deities to this nakshatra and these two deities are known as Indra the ruler of heavens and Agni the ruler of Fire. Thus Vishakha witnesses the relay of characteristics of both of these ruling deities and since the both of these deities exhibit some characteristics which are not in accordance with the other, so Vishakha becomes a mixture of these different kinds of characteristics and it can behave differently in different horoscopes depending upon which of the two ruling deities has more influence on this nakshatra in a particular horoscope. Starting with Indra, according to Vedic mythology, Indra is considered to be the ruler of Swarglok and ruler of all demi-gods including Agni. Vedic mythology portrays Indra as the one who is very much goal oriented and who is many times scared about losing his throne to someone else and then in an attempt to keep his throne intact he commits many kinds of deeds which can be named as bad karmas according to Vedic astrology. For example, Indra once tried to kill the pregnant wife of demon Hiranyakshipu in order to stop him from worshipping Lord Brahma and getting great powers as a result of his worship. Indra feared that HiranyaKshipu will gain powers and then attack the heavens and remove him from his throne and in order to save his throne he tried to disturb the worship of Hiranyakshipu by every possible means and when he did not succeed by any means, he then kidnapped the pregnant wife of Hiranyakshipu and took her to the place where Hiranyakshipu was worshipping and threatened him that if he did not stop the worship, he will kill his pregnant wife. It was only with the intervention of DevRishi Naarad that Indra could be stopped from killing the pregnant wife of the Hiranyakshipu.

From the above example we can see that Indra is a very goal oriented deity and he can go to any lengths and can engage in any karma whether good or bad in order to achieve his goals. Killing a pregnant lady is considered as a very bad karma in Vedic astrology but Indra was willing to do even this karma in order to achieve his goal. This goal oriented nature of Indra is relayed through Vishakha and accordingly the natives under the strong influence of this nakshatra are very fixated on their goals and they are always in a danger of engaging in bad karmas in order to achieve their goals. Indra is also known for his deep interests in drinking, women and enjoying other pleasures and these qualities of Indra are also relayed through this nakshatra and accordingly the natives under the strong influence of this nakshatra are likely to be fond of materialistic pleasures of all kinds. Agni on the other hand is seen as the ruling deity of Fire according to Vedic mythology and he is portrayed as the one with a good character. The influence of Agni on Vishakha brings sufficient energy to this nakshatra which can help the natives achieve their goals. An incident is quoted in Vedic mythology where a demon prayed to god Agni to protect him and then after assurance from Agni, he started worshipping lord Brahma for gaining powers. Indra, seeing it as a threat to his power came to kill the demon but Agni who had promised the demon to save him, came in the way and fought Indra and prevented him from killing the demon. It should be noted that Agni fought with Indra in order to practice the right deeds despite the fact that Indra was his king. So the influence of Agni on this nakshatra brings positive qualities of Agni and how a particular native under the influence of Vishkha will behave is very much dependent on which of these two ruling deities is controlling Vishakha in his horoscope.

Vedic Jyotish assigns Jupiter as the ruling planet of this nakshatra and many of Jupiter’s negative qualities find expression through this nakshatra which is primarily due to the strong influence of Indra on this nakshatra. Jupiter’s ability and optimism towards achieving goals can be used negatively through this nakshatra as the goals set by this nakshatra may not be in tune with the universal well being. First three parts of this nakshatra fall in the sign of Libra ruled by Venus and the last part of this nakshatra fall in the sign of Scorpio ruled by Mars. This nakshatra comes under the influence of planets with opposite natures just as it comes under the influence of deities of different natures and this is what makes this nakshatra a hard to balance kind of nakshatra and this is probably why the name of this nakshatra has been chosen as Vishakha as it is divided between opposite natured ruling deities and opposite natured ruling planets. Jupiter and Venus both have opposite natures according to Vedic astrology and the expressions of Venus are more likely to come out through this nakshatra as Indra’s love for drinking, women, pomp and show is more in tune with Venus than Jupiter. Accordingly, the natives under the strong influence of this nakshatra are very much fixed on their goals and they do not care much whether the path they are choosing to reach these goals is right or wrong and therefore the natives under the strong influence of this nakshatra have a tendency to choose wrong paths at many points in their lives. For these natives, only the goal is important and the means are not.

Vishakha natives are usually fond of alchohal, sex and other pleasures of senses and they are also strong followers of pomp and extravagance and to fulfill these desires, they need much money and resources and many a times, earning this money through right paths can be difficult and hence these natives can follow wrong paths in their lives as getting what they want is of prime importance to them and how they get it is not much important to them. Such natives are easily charmed by materialistic pleasures and they have strong urges to experience them.

Vishakha natives have a strong fire of desires burning inside them and no matter how much they try to satisfy their desires, they end up wanting for more in most of the cases. So this nakshatra can make the natives reach for excesses in the fields like alcohol, sex and other physical pleasures. People under the strong influence of this nakshatra do not usually bother much about the moral and ethical codes of the society around them and they are most of the times oriented at fulfilling their goals which can many times not be in tune with the moral and ethical codes of the society around them. In its positive aspects, this nakshatra gives a strong will power to achieve one’s goals and it also blesses the native with the love for life and how to live and celebrate life but these positive qualities always need a check on them as they can easily cross their limits and change into negative ones. So the summary of this nakshatra is the kind of path it chooses and how it can control its energy. If the natives under the influence of this nakshatra can control the energy of this nakshatra and channelize that energy for positive goals, it can be a very blessing nakshatra and if the natives under the strong influence of this nakshatra are unable to control the energy of this nakshatra, it can make them engage in bad karmas in order to achieve their goals.

Vedic Jyotish associates many kinds of professional spheres with this nakshatra and accordingly the natives under the strong influence of this nakshatra can be seen practicing in various professional fields practicing as people associated with fashion industry, models, actors, actresses, TV and Radio artists and other such kinds of people engaged in other such kinds of jobs, people associated with alcohol and liquor industry, bartenders, pub owners, liquor suppliers and other such kind of people, people working in sex industry such as prostitutes, gigolos, porn artists, porn directors and other such kind of people, criminals like drug dealers, arms dealers, gangsters, mafia, liquor smugglers, mafia dealing in sex rackets, militants and people running militant organizations and many other kinds of people engaged in many other kinds of professions. It can be seen here that people under the strong influence of this nakshatra can be seen in legal as well as illegal professions and whether the natives under the strong influence of this nakshatra will choose right or wrong path is the biggest question asscociated with this nakshatra according to some Vedic astrologers. Vishkha is one of its own kind of nakshatra among all the 27 nakshatras considered important in Vedic astrology and the natives under the strong influence of this nakshatra have the capability to reach the extremes in whatever path they choose.

Coming to some other facts associated with this nakshatra which are considered important in Indian Jyotish for making some specific calculations like gun Milan based on Vedic astrology for the purpose of horoscope matching for marriage, Vedic astrology considers Vishakha as a female nakshatra though both its ruling deities and its ruling planet are Male. Some Vedic astrologers associate this classification of Vishakha with the fact that many characteristics associated with this nakshatra are exhibited by females. Vedic Jyotish considers Vishakha as mixed in nature and active in functioning and both of these classifications can be easily understood by looking at the functioning of this nakshatra. Vedic Jyotish considers this nakshatra as Sattawic in Gun and though some Vedic astrologers associate this classification of Vishakha with the fact that Jupiter is the ruling planet of this nakshatra but no convincing explanation is available for far for this Gun classification of Vishakha. Vedic Jyotish assigns the Gan of Rakshas to this nakshatra and this nakshatra is considered to be Shudra in Caste according to Vedic astrology. Both of these classifications are easy to understand when we look at the negative qualities exhibited by this nakshatra and how the natives under the strong influence of this nakshatra can choose wrong paths in order to achieve their goals. Vedic Jyotish associates the element of Fire with this nakshatra and this classification is again easy to understand by considering the association of this nakshatra with Agni and by considering the kind of energy this nakshatra exhibits.

END.

Hi,
I know this is too late to reply, but just saw it now. Association of Ketu, 7th aspect from Rahu seem direct pointers on why your Budha dasha was not that great. Adding to it, when I did your birth chart from Vrishabha rashi (taurus), Budha (Mercury) sits in 6th house which is Ari. Added to all this, like already a Gentleman stated earlier, the rashi lord Guru is in Makara- which again does not have much strength. To be very perfect, we need the navamsha and the perfect time of birth. Else all this is like talking in air!. However you can read the following translation from Parashara - http://www.barbarapijan.com/bpa/vimshot ... _BPHS.html - courtery of BPHS Lama & special thanks to her for all the great work she is doing. Please do not loose hopes. Worship Lord Ganapathi in your ketu dasha, feed dogs. Try to set some aims. I wish you all happiness, peace and the grace of super powers so that you are happy and healthy. Hari om - Gopi
