I have also read about worshipping Bhairava ( aggressive form or Shiva ) as a remedy for Rahu.
would be grateful if you could share your opinion on this?

I would like to continue chanting Durga Saptasloki , recitation of Saptashati Chapter 1 and light lemon diyas as you recommended, but would need your feedback on the following remedies i could deduce for my Rahu MD which started just an year back. ( running Ra-Ra until Dec 2012)

1. Worship Ganesha ( Ketu in 6th House Aq - Lorded by Saturn )
2. Worship Bhairava ( Agressive form (Rahu in 12th Leo ) of Shiva (Dispositor Leo ) )
3. Worship Narasimha - Aggressive form ( Rahu in 12th Leo ) Conjunction (Saturn in 12 H) aspecting ( Ketu in 6H Aq - no other planet ) lorded by Saturn.

I recommend everybody going through Rahu MD to do one mala/round of "Om Kaal Bhairvaya Namah" and see the results for yourself.

Sorry to all, I have been preoccupied elsewhere, so wasn't able to come to this site for a couple of days.

There have been questions about alternative remedies of Durga Sapashati for Rahu-afflicted people.

I have also received an advice from Ramananji who said that reciting only the 1st chapter of Durga Saptashati is actually harmful and one should recite it either in full, or not recite it at all.

Now that I think about it, I recall that this powerful text in Sanskrit is recited in full only. People in and around Delhi area recite its first chapter, but they always do so in its Hindi translation, never in the original Sanskrit version.

It is believed that reciting the Sanskrit version incompletely causes harm. And it's the Sanskrit version that is believed to be the most powerful one, though its translations will also have some effect.

So, I feel that after following the necessary steps before beginning the chapter recitation (as mentioned in this post -

one should recite one chapter in sequence each day - beginning from 1st to last, followed by the necessary steps daily in post-chapter recitation as described in the link quoted above.

By doing this, the person will actually recite whole Durga Saptashati in a few days' time and this cycle can be repeated continuously. Thus the time taken will be the same as reciting the 1st chapter, but the entire text will be completed in a few days' time.

One must take a bath, wear clean clothes and sit in a clean environment while reciting this text.

An image of Mahishasuramardini Durga is ideal for this purpose. Lemon or ghee lamps should be lighted and flower, incense, sweets etc may be offered.

As an alternative for people who are Rahu-afflicted and can't recite the whole of Durga Saptashati, Ramananji has suggested the following Varaha - verse from the Dashavatara Stotram composed by Vedanta Desikan, a Shri Vaishnava Acharya who lived from 1269 to 1370 CE -

...गोपायेदनिशं जगन्ति कुहनापोत्री पवित्रीकृत-
ब्रह्माण्डः प्रलयोर्मिघोषगुरुभिर्घोणारवैर्घुर्घुरैः।
यद्दंष्ट्राङ्कुरकोटिगाढघटनानिष्कंपनित्यस्थितिः
ब्रह्मस्तंबमसौदसौ भगवती मुस्तेव विश्वंभरा ॥४॥

Quite obviously, an image of Varaha with the Earth Goddess will be more appropriate here.

Other alternative Durga hymns which can be used are Durga Saptashloki, Mahishasuramardini Stotram,, Bhavani Bhujangam, Durga Kavacham, to name a few.

Again, Mahishasuramardini form of Durga is the most suitable for this. Lemon and ghee diyas should be lighted, flowers, incense, sweets may be offered and the Puja should be done in a clean environment, wearing clean clothes after a bath.

Devi Suktam automatically comes in the end of Durga Sapatshati, as has been described above in the related link. In all other Pujas, this hymn should be recited in the end, as it is the source of all later Goddess hymns and is said to be the hymn that the Goddess loves the most.

It is also the most powerful of all hymns for the Goddess, followed by Durga Saptashati.

In fact, Devi Suktam can be recited in isolation from all other hymns, because it is a complete prayer for the Goddess all by itself. So, you can just recite Devi Suktam from Rig Veda daily if you like.

The only good thing is Saturn is also in the same house and ideally it should tame Rahu but Saturn too is in enemy sign and so Rahu will further magnify Saturn’s malefic characteristics. Saturn should still be able to control Rahu’s tantrums. Furthermore, Rahu’s dispositor is placed in 10th house (12th to 11th so loss to 11th house). IMO, your wife’s Rahu MD will be troublesome in terms of finances and also to some extent in career. It will also affect relationships, creativity, education, and children. Currently, she is running Jupiter AD till Jan 2013, Jupiter is well-placed, combust and exalted in cancer/career house. This is a good time for her till 2013. After that Saturn AD will start, which may be troublesome to the native.

Your Ra/Ke axis and your wife’s Ke/Ra are overlapping, which means there is some karmic backlog between you guys. Usually, it not advisable to have Ra/Ke overlap with Ke/Ra axis in spouses.

- Try to avoid onions and garlic in food on Saturdays.

My son left for aussie during 2007 (the start of sade sati) but could not complete his graduation and has returned to India during feb 2011. He is depressed and is adement to go for abroad in pursuit of atleast a diploma and is not heeding our advise. we are facing a huge burden of debt one side and a depressed son on the other side and we dont know what to do and are more apprehensive about his future. Will you advise please..

Chances of him settling away from place of birth is high. His Rahu will cause obsessive behavior and will take the native away from place of birth. West direction may be gainful to the native. You may try North Europe where education is free or financial aid is provided. Thus it will not be a huge burden for you. Native is destined to benefit from father, mother, and spouse.

can there be some relief beacuse:-
1.rahu is powerful by position as it is placed in one of the trine so some mercy will be there by rahu as compared to mine delib rahu.
2.in D9 rahu in trine in exaltation sign.
3.in D5 rahu is in 11 th H though in inimical sign again aspected by exalted saturn...so education wont suffer to a drastic level..

Saindhaviji, thank you for a very detailed description of alternate remedies. As my Rahu MD has just started, May I request a reading from you , Ramanan sir and explorings ji. My career is stable but i feel stagnated, relationships are rocky for no apparent fault of anyone , had two episodes of neural seizures in last few months . health had been my biggest challenge several years , but Ra Md brought on mental stress .

I am currently running Ra MD and Ra AD from 2010 April - 2012 Dec. Career Stable but growth very slow considering the efforts put in, relationships ended up Rocky and Physical Health a big concern.

Virgo Ascendant, Rahu and Saturn in 12H , No planet other than Ketu in 6H.


Physical health has been a big concern to me for quite some time , Mental stress is a new addition since the onset of Rahu MD.
Lord of 6th house being Saturn , who's also aspecting into 6th house from 12th in Conjunction with Rahu .

For nearly 4 months , I tried making regular recitation of Durga Saptashloki and heard one recitation of Sapta Shati Chapter 1. Though external situations didnt change much, My mental stress has reduced a bit and am able to cope up., and I am trying to make mantra recitation a part of my daily habit.

Do you consider Rahu Yantra as an effective Remedy ? Can this yantra be used to compliment Durga Sapta Shati / Sapta Shloki ?

I am thinking of Remedies for Rahu as well as Saturn for getting out of this. Can you please advise? Seriously considering Yantra along with these remedies.

I believe Saindhaviji has given a very good explanation of remedies and procedure for Durga Saptashati.

Here is my two cents: Care should be taken while worshiping ugra (aggressive) deities. If procedure is not done properly, it may backfire. Chamunda/Kali/Mahishamardini and Bhairava are aggressive deities. This is also one of the reasons, why I advise people to worship Maa Durga instead of her Chamunda or other ugra forms; similarly to worship Lord Shiva instead of the aggressive deity Kalabhairava.

Additionally,one should propitiate Saturn, which controls haywire nature of Rahu.

I am almost done with my 10 yrs of Rahu MD, out of which I have been doing remedies for ~4-5 yrs. In these 4-5 yrs I have realized that there is no stable format or procedure of remedies. Rahu is a demon and keeps changing forms... so just when you think remedies are working it will suddenly hit you unexpectedly. Thus, you have to keep adding or changing remedies, this is also one of the reasons why there are so many remedies for Rahu floating around.

Lighting lemon ghee lamps and recitation of Durga Saptashati is the best remedy, IMO and experience.

Here is what I do for my Ra MD:
(I am Virgo ascendant, Rahu placed in 12th (Leo) with Jupiter and Mars and Ketu alone in 6th)

- Light lemon lamps with ghee in the evening. Light lemon lamps with sesame oil on Saturdays and Sundays during Rahu Kalam (http://lightonvedicastrology.com/phpBB3 ... 175#p95703)
- Fast on Saturday. End fast after sunset and do not consume garlic or onion that day.
- Daily recite: Ganapati Sankashtanashan stotram (once), Lingastakam, Hanuman Chalisa, MMM (108 times), Kunjika Stotram (twice), Kilak Stotram (twice), Sri Suktam, Rahu Kavacham, and Rahu Mantra (108 times).
- Shiva abhisheks on Mondays and Saturdays.
- Saturdays: I recite entire Durga Saptashati (sanskrit) with proper procedure (explained here: http://www.lightonvedicastrology.com/ph ... =125#p9336); Shani Dasaratha Stotram, and MMM.
- Try to donate black til/sesame, black/blue blankets to poor.

Performing Durga saptashati recital with honam also helps. I have never tried rahu yantra, IMO that too will require recitation of Rahu mantra for approx 1 lakh times with honam and one needs to worship it everyday.

As I said earlier, there is no standard remedy for Rahu MD except recitation of Durga Saptashati and lemon lamps. Many have found the former extremely beneficial.

Here is another chart wherein Rahu mahadasha is on ( Rahu MD and Jupiter AD). So far, everything is fine. Would like to know how the rest of the dasha period pans out.

DoB: 30.03.1990
ToB: 8.13 PM
PoB: Chennai

He is a mechanical engineer and is currently employed with an MNC. Education was smooth. Got a job during campus selection, moved out of place of birth in June this year and has been transferred to 2 different cities in less than a year!! Parents are keen that he should move overseas but he seems to be happy living and working in India at least for now. What does the future hold for him?

Ra/Ke well-placed on 4/10 axis. Rahu is placed in Capricorn's sign in Moon's nakshatra and conjuncts with Rahu's dispositor, vargottam Saturn (placed in own-sign) and exalted Mars. I don't think you can ask for a better placement of Saturn or Rahu, when one is undergoing Ra MD. The only cause of concern is exalted Mars, enemy of Rahu is placed in same house.

How were the period from Oct 2000 to 2002 and Apr 2005 to Sept 2005?

IMO, Native will not face much troubles of Ra MD and will have a good job, residence, education, and will accumulate land and property. Although the native may travel away from place of birth and even overseas, he will still return back to home town.

In navamsa, again, vargottam Saturn placed in own house conjuncts Ketu and has a drishti on Rahu which is placed in Cancer with moon. Saturn also aspects Rahu's dispositor moon in navamsa.

Any problems or troubles during Ra MD will be due to transitory planets and will be cleared immediately.

For Karmic backlog, please refer to Shilpaji's thread on Ketu past life relations with near ones. Also check if the signs are same, I did not check that... if the signs are not same then it should be okay.

Yes true and Saturn conjuncts Rahu controls haywire nature of Rahu. However, we should not forget that Saturn and Rahu are both camped in their mutual enemy "Sun's house". Rahu is a shadow planet and when conjunct with a planet will behave like it or the house it is placed in. Additionally, the dictum says: "Shaniwat Rahu ,Kuchavath kethu",which means Rahu behaves like Sani and Kethu behaves like Mars.

5H represents belly, heart, liver, and spleen. Is she having some problems related to uterus. Also, Ra-Sat prd does not necessarily mean it will affect her health. It may affect areas related to 5th house. IMO, 7th and 8th house is related to uterus... furthermore, venus is responsible for reproductive organs

in total my rahu dasa is 36 yrs adding 18 +18(wife/daughter)
yeah true... dasha sandhi between spouses is thus not advisable... although in your case one is ending and the other is starting with minimal overlap

You mentioned that the only cause of concern is exalted Mars, enemy of Rahu placed in same house. What kind of concerns would these be?

The period from Oct 2000 -2002 and April to Sep 2005...were ok. he was still studying. Nothing major that we can recall.

If these periods were okay... he has nothing to worry about. His Ra MD is beneficial for him and any problems or troubles during Ra MD will be due to the effects of transitory planets

Hello,

My birthdate is 6/12/1975 and birth time is 00.31 am.I am presently going thru Rahu Mahadasha. One astrologer has asked me to wear Gomed. I have started wearing Gomed since last 10 days but I feel increased amount of depression,anxiety & restlessness. Another astrologer meanwhile has told me to immedialtely take out Gomed as it is not of any use for me & has suggested Ruby & Moonga.

Can someone guide me which stone is appropriate for me.

Your Ra/Ke are well-placed on 3/9 axis in friendly signs of Libra/Aries resp. and Nakshatras of Jupiter and Sun resp.

Ideally speaking your Ra MD should not be troublesome. Are you facing a specific problem prior to wearing a Gomed?

Gomed should have worked for you however, after a 3-day trial if you have not seen any benefits, it is best to discontinue wearing it.

Please provide details of any problems that you are facing and/or were facing since the onset of your Ra MD (2002)
