Bhamsa mystery

Post by Thrawn » 21 Mar 2018

Hello, fellow astrologers !
In Hora shastra, maharishi Parashara explained how to create bhamsa (or saptavimsamsa) chart, also known as d-27. After explaining how to find deities for every of 27 divisions he said that "The bhamsa distribution commences from Aries and other movable signs for all the 12 signs".

This sloka, imlicitly suggests that counting should from a sign of respective element (similar to that of navamsa calculation), meaning - from Aries for all fire signs, from Cancer for all water signs, from Capricorn for all earth signs and from Libra for all air signs.

Yet for some reason (which some of you will hopefully clarify), commentators on BPHS interpret it differently, they say, that for all fire signs counting is done from Aries, for all air signs - from Libra, for all water signs - from Capricorn (!) and for all earth signs - from Cancer (!).

I might be missing something here, but this does not make any sense. Why would counting for earth and water signs should commence from the opposite element signs, whereas for fire and air signs it is done properly ? And if there is indded such a tricky rule here, why Parashara himself did not bother to explain it, simply saying "from Aries and other movable signs" ?

What are your thoughts ?

out of suns monthly sankranti is the crucial ones are Aries-cancer-Libra-Capricorn.Out of these 4 ARIES-LIBRA are odd signs.so count for them it is from them.Airy-fiery.But where as cancer-Capricorn are even signs.so the count in reverse order.karka sankraman related to materialistic works and makar sankraman ment for spiritual deeds. In the other sense cultivation and gathering of food-money sources and makar for charities. Both spiritual and material things are mainly linked with earth and water. This is the hidden clue given by sage parashara and he never left us in any confusion in counting and preparation of D27 chart.

To put it very simply, Kataka is the 28th from Mesha (27 divisions for Mesha plus the first one of Vrishabha), Tula is the 28th from Kataka and Makara is the 28th from Libra going clockwise all the time.

I forgot to add a key point in my previous reply and it as follows- The Nakshatras chart or D27 indicates strengths and weaknesses inherent in a person’s nature. It means, both physical and mental[spiritual] strengths and weaknesses. Here lord of capricorn saturn is karma and ayur karaka for good health and whereas moon as karaka for mental health. In the other sense a good thought of service to others originates in mind.
