D7 - How is it seen?

Hi all,

Though most of know how D7 works, there is still clarity needed on how to count houses from Asc.

Following are the methods i hear:
1. If Asc placed in Odd signs from Aries (incl. aries being '1'), count the house in clockwise like D1 chart or most of the charts

2. If Asc placed in Even signs (eg: in Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, etc):
a. Count the houses counter clockwise. i.e. If Asc in Taurus, then Aries will be 2nd house, Pisces will be 3rd house, and so on.
OR
b. Opposition to the Asc place (i.e. 7th house) is taken as first house and clockwise counting happens.

Which method is right? Need some authentic understanding on this. thanks.
