I read the discussion on Lahiri vs Raman and would like to share a fun fact:
Western astrology did not always use the tropical chart. This started only after Ptolemy, who was the main author with an entire book saved for posterity.
But recently other authors have had their writings recovered, such as Vettius Valens.
Valens used a sidereal system, which you can try on sites like astro.com or astroseek.
In Lahiri my Lagna is 21 "38'32"
In Raman my Lagna is 23 "5'18"
In Valens my Lagna is 22 "42'13"
As you can see, Valen would be an intermediate line. But closer to Raman.
Valens was one of the best astrologers from the Wester (Ptolomeu wasn't an astrologer). To Valens the precision was relevant to determine the "terms" of the planets. Something similar to the Nakshatras.
So this is a relevante consideration to the discussion of Ayanamsha.
RAMAN AYANAMSHA or LAHIRI AYANAMSHA
