Here are ur answers:
1. There are many branches of astrology (Palmistry, Tarrot, Prashna, Numerology etc). The one which is used on this forum is on the bsis of Horoscope & it needs 3 inputs: Date of birth, Time of birth and Place of birth.

2, Yes, there are cycles within cycle. Vimshottari dasha consist of 120 yrs, which is further divided into cycles and sub-cycles.

3. People born on same date/place & time will have the same dasha pattern. Dasha calculation depends on the natal position on Moon.

4. There are 5 sub portions. Fiest level dasha called as Mahadasha, then Antardasha, then Prayantar dasha, 4th level dasha called Soksham dasha and 5th level dasha is pran dasha. The 5th level dasha actually operated in hours.
