How many years before I move back to home country?

Hello,

I am an Indian student who has started working in US. I only have 2-3 years work visa in US and my company decided not to file my H1-B extension this year. If my H1-B doesn't get picked next year, i will be forced to go back. I ideally wanted to go back but after 5-6 years. I am contemplating applying for Canada PR. Would that be a good idea to go forward with that?
